Perfect location for you guys as nomads, as youtubers 8 miles from home family and emy and johan called this island their home, surely you will find it homey as well as we went through their journey at the start of the pandemic, ask the locals for the food, and the hidden gems of the island, it is still recovering from the big typhoon that direct hit it but nevertheless enjoy your stay...
Nice one, you'll like Siargao. Aussie surfers helped make GL into a surf tourism mecca. Used to go Bali every year but started going to Siargao instead, has the makings of the next Bali with a more laid back vibe and environmental mindset.
Indonesia is not just Bali. You can explore Lombok, Nias, Mentawai, Ambon, Papua, and the other 27,000 islands and internet speed is pretty good in most of the islands. And for the surfing, no one is doubt Bali is Asia's capital for surfing.
Getting to a budget vacation is to try an underrated places in the Visayas region, Panay, Guimaras, Negros, Siquior, Leyte, Samar are a good island hopping place, If staying longer until Oct ,Bacolod city will celebrate the Masskara Festival, a latin dance bet similar to Rio, it will be a salvo for a 3 year hiatus
Hi Lloyd and Mandy! Glad you are enjoying the Philippines. One piece of advise: Be careful of dogs you get friendly with. Most street dogs in Philippines are NOT vaccinated with Rabies. One Norwegian tourist ( in her 20's ) petted a dog and sadly died as she was back in Norway because she contracted rabies. And I am from the Philippines myself and just advising you both. Other than that, enjoy your stay in beautiful Philippines!
Siargao is a good option. Relaxing and more peaceful, not a big touristy area, real island vibes and good food options. Just a reminder that Siargao just went through a big storm ( maybe a hundred year storm, rare) so it still recovering but it is on the rebound. You were in El Nido during rainy season. Siargao Island is dryer this time of year and is coming back nicely from the Typhoon. Some areas still look like the typhoon happened yesterday and others have been built back up. Lots of expats have settled there over the years. It used to be quite touristy (3 Island day trips get quite busy) but now is probably a good time to be there as the island continues to come back. Some of my favorite restaurants are completely gone but expect new investment to come in. When I was there in May it was quite and the coconut trees were just beginning to grow back nicely. Enjoy!

Yes I love Siargao more laidback. There’s a new attraction in Canijugan Peak. Just a 5 minute climb then there’s a resto at the top and they have cliff overlooking coconut trees and the sea. They also have hot bath in a kawali. There’s some foreign vloggers living there like 8 miles away from home, Swedish couple vloggers.

U didnt try in Port Barton, its much cheaper especially back packers traveller. Resort and d accomodation , that place is also in Palawan. Have u been to Siargao ? Or Bantayan Island in Cebu.. witness the purely white sand beach, and their Mangrove eck park. Salamat po
The best island for digital nomad in the Philippines in terms of wifi, accommodation, nature and culture is either Boracay or Siargao. But most digimads I know make manila their base and they just fly to different islands since most of them are just 30 mins away.

Wifi in the Philippines will always be spotty..its an island nation, 7000 plus islands..not all are linked to the grid..
