    Your videos are great and this one really explained everything in an easy manner. In questions like these, for fresh graduates should we and if so how do we include academic projects?

    Your videos are as useful for graduates as they are for experienced professionals. Even though I get it that focusing on top tier graduates make more sense for your business atm. In any case, your case problems and answers are very well articulated and describe simple challenges, yet hardly understood or addressed by most.

      Thanks for the kind words! And yes, we definitely agree - a lot of the core skills sought by consulting firms are super useful in a lot of different walks of life.

    Hey Kenton, thanks heaps for your videos - there's an overwhelming amount of online material for case interviews but not so much for the often underestimated fit part of the interview for consulting firms. I have 3 questions and would love your insights on these:
    1) How would you approach or address your educational background in this question, and how important is it (i.e. is it even worth explaining)?
    2) Would something in the following lines work: "I studied econ because ABC, then learned and became passionate about XYZ and that eventually influenced my choice of internships/career" ?
    3) What's the best way when answering this question to talk about your academic achievements (i.e. GPA)?
    Thanks!

    • @rocketblocks
      @rocketblocks  6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Thanks! To your questions, 1) it depends on your arc but generally the younger you are (eg undergrad), the more important it can be because your early in the career and have less other experiences to point to, so it's a judgment call depending on everything else you're also trying to hit on. 2) Yes, definitely. When I was interviewing at Google to work on ads I cited that fact that I found their 2nd price auctions interesting because I'd studied that in school. 3) I don't know that you need to hit interviewers over the head with that, likely if you got the interview you already have a great GPA and it tends to be one of the first things people look at on resumes anyway, so they probably already know it by the time you're speaking :)

    Is there a good time frame in which we can answer this question(lets say for 3-6 yrs of experience)? Maybe 2 mins is good or 5 mins is too long. Anything on that?

    Hey Kenton! I'm not interviewing for a consulting position but am interviewing for a well-known tech company in a non-programming role. Is it okay to skip certain jobs if you cannot tie them at all to the job you are interviewing for?

    • @rocketblocks
      @rocketblocks  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Sure, it's really just a summary and as long as you frame it that way "the key experiences that led me here..." you'll be fine. If they want to know more about something on your resume that you didn't speak to, they can always ask. That said, you definitely don't want to try and hide experiences from the resume itself (eg, a 1 year gap in work history will look suspicious and likely be asked about).

      Hi there, I found a site that has some advice [ managementconsulted.com/mba-internship-application-deadlines-mckinsey-bain-bcg/ ] but I think it's best to just go to the Careers Tab on BCG's website. Maybe even email your local recruiting team?
      Good Luck.

    I better not get asked to walk someone through my resume. I'd probably say "did you not read it?"

    • @rocketblocks
      @rocketblocks  6 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      Hi Robert - That question comes up all the time! It's not because the interviewer is lazy but rather they are testing your ability to concisely sum up your experience to date, demonstrate that you have direction in your career and why they'd be the right next step. Good luck!

    • @rocketblocks

      Google is a great place - I miss it a lot! At the time, I left because I really wanted to learn more about aspects of running a business that I didn't think I'd be able to get in role there for the foreseeable future. Specifically, I was really interested in PM roles where the PM owned the P&L too... but those roles are few and far between at Google
