- There is something unique about doing a solo adventure. While this trip started as a flyout hunt with my friend, it turned in to a test of my own determination and grit to find success.

As a non-resident I did a solo unguided caribou hunt in Alaska and it's my most satisfying and memorable hunt ever. Congratulations Isaac! That's a brute!

Wow, according to the video footage I saw. It appears your shot would most likely have been into the left rear quarter of that moose.
You are very lucky to have retrieved him successfully.
That there must be none other than an "Achilles Moose!"
The shot was a bit back and unfortunately my go-pro died so it didn’t get my follow up shot!

Must have balls the same size as that monster bull to be out there ALONE! Lived there for two years in the service and spent many hours in, "THE BUSH!" Unforgiving yet beautiful country with unreal landscape and hunting opportunities. Alaska, where dreams are made real! Outstanding fortitute and determination!

I’m planning on doing a float, moose, bow hunt with my cousin 2023. We are doing everything to dig up information and knowledge to prepare for this first time Alaskan adventure.

That's awesome. You have huge balls. Having your plane crash would be more than enough to dissuade most people. I can't think of too many people that would float down a river in Alaska by themself. That takes an unparalleled level of confidence.

Man, what awesome fronts on that bull. Geez. I think I like that on a moose more than anything. The fun part of archery hunting is getting close. I rifle hunt too but nothing like getting up close and personal for a thrilling hunt.
For sure! Big fronts are nice! I was just happy with a mature bull and an opportunity with my bow! Still can’t believe it all worked out.

Awesome hunt!! Me and my buddy did a DIY float hunt last year without getting our moose. No way to truly appreciate what you accomplished unless you’ve been out there. Crash landing on the way in…unbelievable!!! Kudos to your pilot for getting you safely on the ground!

Epic hunt man, beautiful bull btw my alaskan bull was 63 1/2 inches and I will never forget it! It was the hunt of a lifetime. Your a stud in my book to do it all by yourself. I know how much work it is! Hats off to you bro congrats!!

Awesome!! I'm interested in your gear and how it held up. Specifically, your clothing and waders. I see you went with Firstlite. What about your waders? Boots, gloves etc..I live in Sitka. It rains constantly...for days!

The first lite rain gear breaks down a bit after heavy use. Mine seems to have the waterproofing material separate from the jacket material. The warranty is great though so they always replace. Simms waders work great!

What a feat! Well done! That is definitely a trophy not just because of the antlers but because you did it by yourself, you filmed it, and it was with a bow. Nice!!! Congrats! I will do that someday. I missed my chance when my brother lived in AK and I was playing war after 9/11. But I am sure I can talk him into another trip back and I have several friends there who I am sure would love to help me logistically. Hmmm...maybe time to think about next year. :-)

Leaving for CO for elk a week from Friday so it will have to be another year. My father and brother live in CO and my brother owns a guiding/outfitting business there (my father started it and my brother took it over when he retired). The military kept me away too much but I am at the point where I am able to go exploring again. Took my son to CO a couple of years ago and he got a beautiful antelope (slightly bigger than mine from about ten years ago) so I am leaving him home this year and going for elk by myself. 🤣😂

That was a great hunt!!!! What raft did you use to float out the meat to the bigger raft? That thing looks pretty slick.
I used an alpaca packraft to get it to the 14’ self bailer.
