As a geologist the only thing accurate is Yellowstone explosion, lol kinda but close enough, it’d be like 18,000 nukes or 14000 hydrogen bombs going off all at once over an 10,000 square mile chunk of land…. It is beautiful land and when it does explode it will leave 8-10 inches in the furthest part of the earth meaning the earths vegetation would all die within 1 day after
Lol its pretty brutal how the super nice stepdad gets killed in one of the worst ways imaginable and the family never even acknowledges it and literally five minutes later John Cusack is back together with his ex wife, all while stepdad's mangled corpse is still trapped in gears and machinery in the bellows of the ship.
True, but the human reactions aren't very realistic overall in this movie. The standouts would be the dad on the boat, and John Cusack's friend who died with his family.
I can't watch this movie without thinking of the comedy special pointing out how every time the character runs the "lava" is always just behind him, and when he gets into a vehicle the "lava" always speeds up so that it always stays just behind him.
I remember I was 10 years old when this movie was in theater. I didn’t see it in theater, but it used to scare me into believing that the world was actually ending in 2012. I remember I stayed up late on New Year’s of 2011 and when we were counting down to 2012, I was like “this is it.” For me, 2020 is enough catastrophic as it was 😂😂😂
@@kaylakurosaki4873 Yeah, yeah, yeah. Believe in every apocalyptic nonsense you want, but we all know what you want to believe is never gonna happen. Heck, I got fooled twice. Once for 2012 and twice for September 23rd, 2015, too. True story. So, yeah, in the words of Jeremy Jahns: “Save it. The whole Mayan 2012 thing didn’t work out. You don’t know what you’re talking about. Just save it.”
If the little girl didn't go with her daddy, they very well could of left without him. And not only would he have died, his kids still would've because they didn't know where to go. Taking her is making sure he can save his kids.
There is an alternate ending (it was featured as an extra on the DVD) where they get a call from the wreck of the Ocean Liner and it turns out that Harry and Tony, along with a number of other passengers, survived the Tsunami.
"Why do you think they call it the Cape of Good Hope?" Same reason Greenland was named the way it was, if they gave it an appropriate name everyone would avoid it.
You people really are so ignorant. There's literally no geological connection between the geysers erupting, and the Yellowstone caldera erupting. They are almost completely separate geological processes. Stop being so willfully ignorant, it's really not that hard, and when literally the entirety of human knowledge is at your fingertips, you just come off as lazy, or worse.
This movie is a throwback. I used to watch it constantly when I was younger and even now, I’m still amazed and terrified of how they pull it off. The fact that it was directed by the very man who made Independence Day makes complete sense. Films like this one reminds me every time that despite our advancements in technology and total dominance on the planet, we’re still just insects, small and fragile, living under the mercy of the elements. Yes, I too was disappointed that in times of crisis, it is a first come, first served scenario when the rich and powerful gets to be saved. Hell, they didn’t even brought in Satnaam, the Indian astrophysicist who knew that the Earth was going to be finished, of all people in the world. If anything, he and his family should’ve been the very first ones to be placed first class to one of the Arks and have royal treatment. It demonstrates this convoluted paradox: we can’t save everyone. If we did, we end up saving nobody. Plus, when they mentioned that certain people were chosen by geneticists to repopulate, that was completely absurd because everyone, no matter where they are or where they came from, have all suffered from this calamity and they’re choosing those by specific races to fill the gaps of the new world? At this point, who gives a damn about that? Even in a apocalyptic event, we still do things unfairly. 🤦
this and another thing that makes illogical sense in choosing essentially the wealthy is that who is gonna rebuild? i doubt the queen of england or any of those other rich people are gonna get their hands dirty and and build, not only that with us the regular ppl they are essential broke because they have no one to make their money off of
The temperature in Phoenix Arizona has reached 120°F maybe more this summer already, places like Las Vegas, Death Valley, and I’m sure other places that reach temperature levels that high as well.
Well, 11 years later, we’re all still here. Note to self: Never believe the crazies that say the end will come. Yes, we’re all terrified of the unknown, but we can’t assume that it’s actually happening all the time. Does anyone remember the story of “The Boy who Cried Wolf”?
Been on two cruises, I'll never go on another again. Has nothing to do with the water killing me, everything to do with the fact that you're so time restricted.
Cruises are just a different type of traveling. You'll reach a point in your life where you will just want to kick back and relax for a week, without having to worry about travel arrangements and exploring and all these things. It's absolutely enjoyable if you are in the right mindset, and I think, if you go to the right places. I would highly recommend an Alaskan cruise, a Mediterranean cruise, or a Scandinavian cruise.
The solar storm 2012 was an unusual one involving a huge strong coronal mass ejection that occurred on July 23, 2012. It missed Earth with a margin of approximately nine days, as the equator of the Sun rotates around its own axis with a period of about 25 days. The region that produced the outburst was thus not pointed directly towards Earth at that time. The strength of the eruption has been predicted to be comparable to the 1859 Carrington Event that caused damage to electrical equipment worldwide, which at that time consisted mostly of telegraph systems. Today, much of the world relies heavily on electronics including nuclear power plants. We were lucky that time but will we be so during the next one?
Totally impossible and totally fun. The action gets started early and doesn’t let up. The scenes and situations this movie takes you through is like a full season of a TV show.
The big thing about the translation about the whole 2012 thing was a little off The hype was that ‘the world would end in 2012’…as opposed to ‘2012 would be the beginning of the end’
It wasn't even a translation error, people are just dumb and spread incorrect information. Someone took the "the Mayan calendar ends in 2012" and spread that like wildfire. What they failed to understand, or chose to omit, is that the Mayan calendar ended the same way December 31st ends our calendar, with another calendar starting right after the old one ends....

Just so we all know. When yellowstone goes. It won't go like that. It will be more like a nuke.... Bigger than than any nuke we could ever build actually. It will be Ragnarok. Followed by volcanic winter
So you like horror movies, have you ever watched the original "Black Christmas", from 1974 or Pumpkin-head from 1988? Both are fairly well done for their time and still hold up and have a good amount of followers. Other movies I'd also suggest is "Duel", by Steven Spielberg in 1971, or "Prince of Darkness", by John Carpenter in1987. all of these will impress you, guaranteed.
15:35 yup...lol biggest nuclear explosion we'll ever see lol ... This movie is the pure definition of glorious schlock, and I love it. It has definite flaws, but it's just hilariously engaging. Also that big plane they were flying is Ukrainian built, and it's basically almost extinct now due to the War in Ukraine. I believe there is only a few frames remaining after the destruction of the airfield where they were manufactured in 2022. Sad shit for us aviation nerds. That plane was glorious and massive.
When people say “The End Is Near”, they don’t mean a couple years or 20 years. Our world is Billions of years old, could be 100-200 years. Supposedly now, the earth’s core is slowing. I’m in my 40s, my mother is in her 60s, we’ve been hearing that same thing all our lives. We believe it. We don’t know when shit’s gonna hit the fan, but eventually. I’ve heard when I was a kid that California will fall off the face of the earth. I looked a couple maps, and it is a possibility, because it’s a shelf waiting to break off.

28:58 _"We don't really count COVID… "_
Coronavirus Death Toll ... 7,010,681 people have died so far from the coronavirus COVID-19 outbreak as of April 13, 2024.
Dude grade 4 or 5!?!? I was drunk at college!
Everything is bigger in russia you’d think they were overcompensating for something 😅😂
It was mirrored, it's 2102.
PSP.... i hit that. lol
Please watch King Kong (2005) 🔥🔥

I remember when the world ended 😂
