Hi! (NO SPOILERS IN MY COMMENT) This game "FF7 Rebirth" is a direct sequel, or part 2, of the game " FF7 Remake", thatis also available for PS5. This game won't hold your hand when it comes to story telling, it will assume you have played the first game. Though you probably will catch up to most of the events that are going on and characters, there will be parts that will make absolutely no sense without playing the first part of the game. If you can, I'd advise to postpone playing this game further and playing the first part. FF7 Remake is an excellent game that properly introduces you to the world and characters. It's not a very long game either (30-50 hours), compared to this game that you can play for 150-200 hours, easily. If you play this game first, you'll probably still enjoy it, but the game will be on a whole other level if you'll play part 1 first. It really is worth it. Good luck in any case!

But if you keep playing Rebirth, eventually you will be spoiled on a lot about events of Remake, which will take away from your experience. It's a perfect moment to hit pause, and come back after finishing the first game. I think all viewers will enjoy that choice. The story is beloved by fandom and honestly amazing, so you going back to not lose any of it will be a choice everyone can get behind.
Nice to see your perspective on Rebirth as someone with zero context. I would still recommend giving Remake a go if you like what you have experienced with Rebirth so far. At the very least watch the 'Story so far' summary from the main menu in Rebirth, It will summarise part 1 to get you somewhat up to speed with what is happening in the story.
