Guesthouses are a cozier and more authentic accommodation option compared to hotels, and usually considerably less expensive. I highly recommend Guesthouse Galleri Vik - the woman who runs it, Gudrun, was an absolute gem. :)
Have fun Joy, been there 2 times. See Jeannie's "what to pack for summer" so you know exactly what to take. All of her videos are full of good info :) You will love going there
Spent two nights at Vik and loved it. The town is cute and both beaches were gorgeous. The hotel is fantastic too. Your videos were so helpful before my trip last summer. Want to go back in winter!
I couldn't be more excited to see this because I am planning a trip to Iceland and was planning to go to Vík and I was struggling and overwhelmed with all the possibilities stuff that I want to do. Thank you so much for this 🥰😆
We loved the town of Vik and our 3 night stay at Hotel Kira. The restarant within the hotel is awesome not just at breakfast but at dinner time as well. Loved their cucumber and sykr dessert. Thank you for making videos about Iceland. I used many of your tips from past videos when planning my trip last October.
Great video and enjoyed the recommendations. We just came back from our trip that included Vik and can say that those in the area will not want to miss it. We stayed in the Puffin and were satisfied: Kria was booked months in advanced. Coffee/matcha at Skool Beans, dinner at Black Crust Pizzaria, and a lovely horseback ride on the (hidden) beach with Vik Horse Adventure. Day 2 was to Vestmannaeyjar but that’s for another post.
It was a great trip. We enjoyed all the recommendations and still like to see the content for things we may have missed to put on the list for the next trip.@@IcelandwithaView
We were in Vik Dec. 2018 at the place that sells Icewear…..anyway out the back parking lot there is a blue sign, something like "to the beach" was hilarious to get photos of all the blowing snow with people trying to walk in the snow, ice and wind... just general winter pictures with that sign! I should enlarge it and hang it up.
I lost a day on my trip because I didn’t take your advice with a sleep mask.i didn’t sleep for 2 days because of the sun.i was exhausted on the 3rd day.So much to see and do.Almost to much to take in.Pace yourself and enjoy.
Ah how we'd love to go to Iceland! Maybe our next goal after we finish our current 9 month trip to the North Cape :) Thanks for sharing and spoiling us with these tips! Lots of love, Leon and Miek
You all probably dont care at all but does any of you know of a trick to get back into an instagram account..? I was stupid lost my password. I would love any tricks you can give me!
@Anders Zion Thanks so much for your reply. I found the site thru google and I'm in the hacking process atm. I see it takes a while so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
As always make sure you check the weather conditions too as the roads got closed in and out of Vik while we were over there so we were stranded in Vik for 2 days
We just did Iceland last week and saw some incredible aurora. I want to do it again but in a different season. I heard the summer solstice is a good time to go. What is your favorite season?
What kind of jam is it? :) I put red pepper jelly (jam) on alot of food. I also add peanut butter and red pepper jelly to my burgers. Taste is for the individual! :)
Jeannie I am so excited we are heading to Iceland in September (third time booking must be the the charm...right?). You mention the hidden black sand beach...is this included on the South Iceland Itinerary when it is purchased from you ? If so what is it listed as on the map? Also what is the name of the restaurant with the cheese pizza and jam? Thank you in advance
We did an overnight stop in Vik last month. I just happened to walk out to the black sand beach behind the shops and it was amazing. Jeannie I think you have also recommended the Soup Company. I had the Red Hot Lava Soup. Amazing!!! Highly recommend!!!
Hi Jeannie, Thanks for all of your videos and website. I am taking my 14 year old daughter to Vik for three nights in March. Can you throw in one of your Gems for what would make me the coolest dad ever in Vik?
In this video I cover: Reynisfjara - black sand beach Dyrhólaey - overlook of black sand beach and the rock arch Vík í Mýrdal (or just Vík) - village on the south coast Vík í Mýrdal church Restaurant Suður-Vík - best pizza (with jam)! I hope this clarifies what you're asking about!
I went to Greenland and from there to Iceland...I will never forget the land.

I stayed here in July 2021. Very nice and one night we had the whole place to ourselves.
Thanks for the great information on Vik. We're traveling to Iceland June 2020 and Vik is one of our overnight stays!
Enjoy your trip, Vik is incredible!
Best time to visit Iceland and have less tourists, did it last year 😍
Have fun Joy, been there 2 times. See Jeannie's "what to pack for summer" so you know exactly what to take. All of her videos are full of good info :) You will love going there

@Anders Zion it did the trick and I now got access to my account again. I am so happy:D
Thanks so much you really help me out :D
Don't forget Smidjan Brugghus for some great beers and a burger!
Don't forget about hiking to see puffins!!
As always make sure you check the weather conditions too as the roads got closed in and out of Vik while we were over there so we were stranded in Vik for 2 days
www.road.is/ is a great resource to check road conditions
May I ask when you were stranded in Vik?
@@icequeensens that would have been January 2020. Vik was beautiful to be fair, we just missed a few things we were supposed to do due to the weather
I've plan for my Iceland trip on April. Allow me decide later lol.
I spent the night in VIK and woke up to a snowstorm. I got out of there quickly and missed the sights.
Bummer! I hope you're able to come back to visit Vik! There's so much to see and do in the tiny town!
Another great video. You mentioned the hidden black sand beach. How can we find that? Thanks.
We just did Iceland last week and saw some incredible aurora. I want to do it again but in a different season. I heard the summer solstice is a good time to go. What is your favorite season?
It's so hard to choose because they're all beautiful! I love September!
I enjoyed your video very much. Would you mind typing the restaurant you mention that has the pizza with jam? Thank you very much.
What kind of jam is it? :) I put red pepper jelly (jam) on alot of food. I also add peanut butter and red pepper jelly to my burgers. Taste is for the individual! :)
Red currant jelly 🤤
May 2023, I had the best hot chocolate in the converted school bus set back from the main road on the east side of Vik!
As I expect to be in VIK next Wednesday we are thinking of visiting the Lava show but are unsure if its worthwhile?
Can’t speak to the lava show, but the soup restaurant in that same building is exceptional for a quick, cheap, delicious lunch.
I agree the soup was fantastic.2nd bowl for free, lava show was good, my son got to smash the lava with a metal pole.
Can you please add the link to your guide? BTW I really like your videos they have great information!
When we were in Vik it was raining sideways and you couldn't see the Ocean from the church!!!
Yes! The weather can be crazy!
Did you get your Iceland artwork from Layoutlines/Sonja? ;)

Have you done the Zipline in Vík?
Not yet!
„Pizza with jam“this line is enough for Italians to start a war with Iceland 😅
Haha I can imagine! But would you try it?
what type of jam on the pizza?
How can I get there by bus and back. From Reykjavik?
Where’s the best place to park in Vik?
We did an overnight stop in Vik last month. I just happened to walk out to the black sand beach behind the shops and it was amazing. Jeannie I think you have also recommended the Soup Company. I had the Red Hot Lava Soup. Amazing!!! Highly recommend!!!
Yes! 🙌 So Good!
