Guesthouses are a cozier and more authentic accommodation option compared to hotels, and usually considerably less expensive. I highly recommend Guesthouse Galleri Vik - the woman who runs it, Gudrun, was an absolute gem. :)
I stayed here in July 2021. Very nice and one night we had the whole place to ourselves.
I went to Greenland and from there to Iceland...I will never forget the land.
I've been there; the south shore adventure.

We loved the town of Vik and our 3 night stay at Hotel Kira. The restarant within the hotel is awesome not just at breakfast but at dinner time as well. Loved their cucumber and sykr dessert. Thank you for making videos about Iceland. I used many of your tips from past videos when planning my trip last October.

Spent two nights at Vik and loved it. The town is cute and both beaches were gorgeous. The hotel is fantastic too. Your videos were so helpful before my trip last summer. Want to go back in winter!

May 2023, I had the best hot chocolate in the converted school bus set back from the main road on the east side of Vik!
Vik was awesome and that little Kr. Store came in handy!
Will definitely have to visit Vik on my next trip to Iceland! Got as far south as the black beach just to the west of Vik and it was amazing.

I spent the night in VIK and woke up to a snowstorm. I got out of there quickly and missed the sights.

Hidden sand beach sounds fun!
We were in Vik Dec. 2018 at the place that sells Icewear…..anyway out the back parking lot there is a blue sign, something like "to the beach" was hilarious to get photos of all the blowing snow with people trying to walk in the snow, ice and wind... just general winter pictures with that sign! I should enlarge it and hang it up.
Never knew about pizza with jam, curiously I have been doing the same!! 🍕

I've plan for my Iceland trip on April. Allow me decide later lol.
Great video and enjoyed the recommendations. We just came back from our trip that included Vik and can say that those in the area will not want to miss it. We stayed in the Puffin and were satisfied: Kria was booked months in advanced. Coffee/matcha at Skool Beans, dinner at Black Crust Pizzaria, and a lovely horseback ride on the (hidden) beach with Vik Horse Adventure. Day 2 was to Vestmannaeyjar but that’s for another post.

Jeannie I am so excited we are heading to Iceland in September (third time booking must be the the charm...right?). You mention the hidden black sand beach...is this included on the South Iceland Itinerary when it is purchased from you ? If so what is it listed as on the map? I lost a day on my trip because I didn’t take your advice with a sleep mask.i didn’t sleep for 2 days because of the sun.i was exhausted on the 3rd day.So much to see and do.Almost to much to take in.Pace yourself and enjoy.

As always make sure you check the weather conditions too as the roads got closed in and out of Vik while we were over there so we were stranded in Vik for 2 days

We did an overnight stop in Vik last month. I just happened to walk out to the black sand beach behind the shops and it was amazing. Jeannie I think you have also recommended the Soup Company. I had the Red Hot Lava Soup. Amazing!!! Highly recommend!!!

What kind of jam is it? :) I put red pepper jelly (jam) on alot of food. I also add peanut butter and red pepper jelly to my burgers. Taste is for the individual! :)

As I expect to be in VIK next Wednesday we are thinking of visiting the Lava show but are unsure if its worthwhile?
Can’t speak to the lava show, but the soup restaurant in that same building is exceptional for a quick, cheap, delicious lunch.
I agree the soup was fantastic.2nd bowl for free,lava show was good, my son got to smash the lava with a metal pole.
