Thanks! I turned the key about half a dozen times before successful. The starter was bench testing fine but wouldn't turn engine over. Took a minute to figure that one out
Thank you for taking the time to video and voiceover this project! I’m sure that took almost as long as that pesky bell housing bolt :-). Really gives me confidence that I can do this myself. Mines starting to burn more oil than gas ;-)
Thanks for the video, I'm fixing to do this myself. I know this is old but for others, I'm pretty sure that "sensor" you couldn't identify at 7:44 is the Idle Air Controller which I had to replace on mine some time ago. Let me know if I am wrong.
Thanks! The Idle Air Control valve is on the throttle body. The one I was pointing at is sticking up out of the plenum. Let me know how your engine project goes!
Yep, most certainly can get them together. Just pull the front grill and all that out. I've done this 4 times now. Any way and either way seems about the same amount if Work. Just depends on which route you prefer
Those plastic pieces are crankcase breathers I had to replace them they suck cause they are plastic and break super easily also how did you get the exhaust manifold hooked back up to the exhaust for the o2 sensors to work correctly?? I have a 99 Jeep with the 4.7 in it and it’s a pain in the butt to work on
I have a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.7 high output And I'm having transmission problems on my vehicle The mechanics quoted me $4,500 to replace it. There's another guy in the next town who has the same vehicle like my engine and transmission but on that vehicle the valve or valve seat dropped. I was thinking of buying the other guys Jeep for cheap and switching out my engine into his. Any thoughts??? Also how hard is it to put in The engine to the bell housing? Does everything have to be top dead center? I'm kind of having a hard time explaining it but are there grooves that have to match up from the engine to the bell housing?
Send when you hook up the air conditioner unit it’s been drained totally can I just go to a parts place store and get those cans of 134a air conditioning, refrigerant and put in it or am I suppose to go to a garage and pay BIG BUCKS Toto have it done professionally
Just the engine itself? Probably 25 but that includes time to bs with the neighbor and move the camera around. Also not rushing at all. Those 25 hours split across three days.

Congrats on a successful engine swap. Must’ve been many butterflies when turning the key for the first time!
Thanks! I turned the key about half a dozen times before successful. The starter was bench testing fine but wouldn't turn engine over. Took a minute to figure that one out
@@AGuyandHisProjects what made it not turn over?
The starter was toast. Bench tested fine but no gumption to turn the engine

You bet! Yeah it feels daunting at first, but once you get started it becomes simpler, funny how that works
Hell ya brother , good job
Thanks man!
BRAVO! I don't have the patience for all that. You must really want a WJ.
02 WJ Limited DP😎
Haha! Not so much that I want one, I just like keeping busy. I have another one that I use as a "trail rig"
thanks for video !
You are most welcome, thanks for watching!

I'm going to be pulling the engine in my WJ in the near future, I'll pull the trans too, do you think the Trans and Engine could come out together?
Yep, most certainly can get them together. Just pull the front grill and all that out. I've done this 4 times now. Any way and either way seems about the same amount if Work. Just depends on which route you prefer
Great job!!!!
Thank you very much!
Thanks again
You are most welcome!
That was awesome when it started up ! ! !
Yes it was!

Good to know...and it takes a lot of patience haha! It was a fair size of a PIA
😃 awesome
I was pretty excited!
How did you install the flexplate/torque converter bolts? Did you have to go through the starter hole or?
There is an inspection plate bolted to motor and trans. That comes off and plenty of room

The engine replacement itself wasn't overly complicated, just time consuming. Lining up the bell housing kinda sucked but is do-able
Hell yeah jeeps are a bitch to change the engine out! Remove the right motor mount and drop the engine down to remove or install the intake!
Thanks for the tip!

Professionally is usually the better option I think. The cans should work though, just make sure you get the oil in first!
How many hours do you estimate you have in the swap?
Just the engine itself? Probably 25 but that includes time to bs with the neighbor and move the camera around. Also not rushing at all. Those 25 hours split across three days.
@A Guy and His Projects I heard it was a horrible job but that doesn't sound to bad actually
Hardest part of whole thing was those top two bell housing bolts and lining it all up to bolt back together.
@@AGuyandHisProjects thanks for the information
