      Dot,
      Sorry to hear of your husband's passing, I know we all have to deal with the loss of loved ones and friends, but so long as you have great memories, it can ease the pain a little.
      I am glad our video and sharing our journey provided a reminder.
      Take care,
      Gary & Janis

    Good to see on a dark wet and windy autumn's night, makes us think of sunnier (and better) times. We used to go to Riva quite often as it used to have some major windsurfing events.

We've still a few autumnal trips through Kent planned though, so we're still doing a little travelling! just on a micro scale. 😍

      Hi! My British husband and I, from Barcelona, want to start via Arles, Sant Paul de Vence, Génova, cinquè terre, Pisa, Lucca, san gimignano, Siena, Bolonia, Verona, Garda, Como, Annecy, and Barcelona again! Kids are big and now we're enjoying a second honeymoon 😂
      You know, travelling around together by car like you! ❤😊

    • @OurWorldForYou
      @OurWorldForYou  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Nena, we've been watching 'La Vuelta' and the weather in Barcelona over the last few days has been horrific. Hopefully, it will be back to normal soon and before we land on your shores in mid-September for our third road trip around Spain.
      Your road trip sounds fantastic; we loved the South of France, and Arles is fantastic (Ever seen Ronin? there's a whole scene set around the amphitheatre,) Then there's Nimes, where denim originated - 'De Nimes' and the wonderful Pont du Gard. St Paul de Vence is super too, and if you check out our videos on the south of France - th-cam.com/play/PLwaSkfP77ubaQTPPbciGvPzIOhOUZV1J2.html & you may have seen the content from Touring Italy - th-cam.com/play/PLwaSkfP77ubakeYcPQMu0Teur_0Rcoo7l.html
      However it sounds like you have a wonderful trip planned. We are so looking forward to heading back to Spain, it is going to be great.
      Anyway, thanks for taking the time to comment,
      Safe and happy travels,

    Thank you very much for the wonderful video. Would you please let us know how long it took you to go all the way around the lake?

    • @OurWorldForYou
      @OurWorldForYou  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Linda,
      The journey around the lake is 105 miles or 170km and would take around 3.5-4 hours without stops.
      On our journey, we stopped at Peschiera del Garda for around 75 minutes, stopped briefly at Manerba del Garda for 5-10 minutes, and again at Salò for again around 75 minutes.
      So our day, with stops, took about seven relaxing hours.
      Are you planning on visiting? There's a lot more to see. You could spend a chunk of time around the lakes, picking different overnight destinations and making the journey last days.
      Anyway, whatever happens, all the best
      Gary & Janis

    Excellent tour, we visiting the area next week, staying in Desenzano, was hesitant about hiring a car and driving in Italy but i can see now that a car is a must! Any other advice and tips on what to do and see at the lake??

    • @OurWorldForYou
      @OurWorldForYou  ปีที่แล้ว

      Paul,
      Just a little bit jealous, and I am so glad you decided to go for the hire car. You will notice a real difference in the north, much more mountainous; perhaps check out Malcesine th-cam.com/video/fID1uxbkvmc/w-d-xo.html or Limone-sul-Garda th-cam.com/video/iHfnnNXWM2g/w-d-xo.html.
      With the drive around the lake, just take your time and relax, and pick your perfect soundtrack to relax.
      You are staying close to Sirmione, so check that out; when we head back, we will.
      Depending on time and budget, perhaps hire a boat. It's a great way to see the lake from a different perspective. We did on Lake Como a few years back, and it was fabulous.
      The main thing is it's your adventure, your memories - just relax, have a great time and enjoy a pizza.
      Happy & safe travels,
      Gary & Janis

    Felt like I was back there, on a dark autumn night! Spent a few holidays in Malcesine, Limone and Riva. Buses and boats are great option for getting around and admiring scenery for any non drivers like us. Scenery in north much better I think. Was going to Sirmione this year but hopefully soon...!

    • @OurWorldForYou
      @OurWorldForYou  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      🙏 Thanks so much Jon. On a cold wet day in Kent that warmed my heart 😍. We took the boat from Limone-sul-Garda across to Malcesine, and I think you have to take a boat when you're on the lake, it only seems right. Shame this year's Limone trip is cancelled, but I'm sure the next trip will be even more special. Thanks again for the comment - stay safe, stay well.

    • @jonaudis5432

      @@OurWorldForYou Indeed a boat trip is essential. I was lucky as it was my birthday I had a trip out on the old sailing boat 'Veronica' you see at 03.45 in Malcesine harbour.

    Such a helpful video, thank you! Finally re-booking our ill-fated 2020 Italian road trip for summer 2023 and working out where to go / how to get around Garda. Would you recommend working our way around the lake and staying in different places on our way round, or using one place (eg. Limone) as a base?

    • @OurWorldForYou
      @OurWorldForYou  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Georgia, it'll be a great experience, you'll love it. If you're only staying a few nights then perhaps one would be best, and Limone would make a great choice. If you've a little longer then perhaps spread it out with a mix of the mountanous north; either Limone-sul-Garda (Lombardy), Riva del Garda (Trentino) or perhaps Malcesine (Verona), and then head south to perhaps Garda (Verona), or Sirmione (Lombardy).
      If you've any more questions, just shout, or for more ideas you could check out the posts on our blog. We've done two Lakes & Lederhosen tours through Italy & Germany (The other was Lake Como)
      Hope that's some help

    Made it to the end. Curious, you missed Sirimione. Why?

    • @OurWorldForYou
      @OurWorldForYou  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Reed, well done. Sirmione is one of the must-see places on Lake Garda, but we arrived here around about 12:30pm, and the traffic into the peninsular seemed to be backed up, so we opted to give it a miss - one for next time for us. So I think our advice would to be arrive early, possibly take a boat there, or use it as your base in the south of the lake. Thanks again, take care, stay safe 😍

    • @OurWorldForYou
      @OurWorldForYou  25 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Hi Ani,
      It's fine; there's plenty of places around the lake to upp over an enjoy the view safely, and then you have all the towns and villages too to park up, explore and take in lakeside views.
      All the best,
      Gary

    Can u recommend a reliable car rental company ? And is there one at Desenzano del Garda.? As I would arrive there by train then if I could I am hoping to rent a car for 3-4 days while in Lake Garda..

    • @OurWorldForYou
      @OurWorldForYou  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi there, afraid not, not one I could recommend - We always use rental cars (here's our affiliate link - bit.ly/37obdHk) they then help downselect to the provider, and vehicle type you want, but there's nothing for Desenzano del Garda. Whatever happens though, have a great few days on Garda, enjoy the mountainous north, and the flat of the south - wonderful place to visit, leaves you with plenty of memories.
      Cheers,
