Oasis Class vs Icon Class Cruise Ships | Top 5 Differences

- For over a decade, Royal Caribbean has been virtually unmatched with some of the most innovative cruise ships, while also being the undisputed leader in building the world’s largest.
Starting in the late 1980s through 2008, Royal Caribbean has launched 7 ships that have once held the titles as the largest cruise ship in the world. The jockeying of positions with other cruise lines was finally put to rest with the debut of Oasis of the Seas in 2009.
Since then, each subsequent Oasis class ship through Wonder of the Seas in 2022 have carried the moniker (worlds' largest) as the improvements and additions continued to make them larger. With the introduction of Icon of the Seas, the first in her class, the substantial increase in size over Oasis class has certainly cemented Royal Caribbean’s position for some time to come.
While they share much of the same DNA, in this video, we’ll highlight the top 5 major differences between Oasis Class and Icon Class vessels.

Let's go, Icon!!!
Hi trey9497, thanks for watching. I love both of these classes, but extremely excited for Icon of the Seas.
We booked Icon for May 2024 on the day before it was made available to the general public. Now the prices are double what we paid.
Hi lucabrasi5070, thanks for watching. I know, Icon of the Seas pricing is at an all time high.
Good idea on the video showing the differences. Well done.
Hi JasonPates, thanks for watching. Glad you liked the video.
Yes very helpful. Can you compare other class ships?
Really enjoyed this video explaining the differences between the 2 classes of ships Chris. I sort of recall when Icon class was first mentioned years ago by RCCL it was supposed to be 200K ton ships and not as big as Oasis class. Then before you know RCCL reveals they are even bigger than Oasis! Next February I get my first-time experience on an Oasis class ship for a cruise. Allure of the Seas out of Port Canaveral which I was told doesn't have all the upgrades its sister ships have which is fine by me. I've seen Wonder of the Seas, Oasis of the Seas and Symphony of the Seas in person at the ports but never sailed on any of them. I keep thinking that RCCL must be getting to the max size limit for cruise ships before cruise ports won't be able to handle them!
Have fun!
@@sunburst6598 thanks!
Hi TheRiverPirate13, correct, the original concept for Icon-class was larger than Quantum class but smaller than Oasis -class. Now they completely surpassed all classed and every other cruise line in terms of size. Likely will a lonf time (if ever) that cruise ships are built significantly larger. I like the way Allure of the Seas is, makes her unique in many ways, have a great time,
Thanks Chris!@@TalkingCruise
I love Royal Caribbean cruise
Hi user-kt5wt5hf7u, thanks for watching.
I like the Oasis Class better
Ho GarrettSmith-kk7dh, thanks for watching.
Put day video in cruise ship ❤ and islands video also 😮
Hi ramugaddale3366, thanks for watching.
I just want a Central Park in every new ship/class they make.
Hi dd-dd2co, thanks for watching. At least you'll have six Oasis class ships and all of the Icon class to enjoy Central Park.
Hello. Really nice video. You presented the side-by-side comparisons really well. Do you know if the Icon has a promenade deck? We had to cancel a cruise on Wonder of the Seas when we found out it had no promenade deck (there seems to be nowhere on the Wonder to see or be near the ocean on the ship except a balcony stateroom or on the top decks). We love being able to view and listen to the ocean while on a cruise. Was just wondering.
Hi robbevans5718, thanks for watching. On Wonder of the Seas and other Oasis class ships, there is technically a lower promenade on Deck 5. It is the jogging/walking track that does a complete loop and has sections with views to the ocean , plus the aft section has deck chairs to watch the wake. Additionally, on Deck 7 aft (behind the rock climbing walls), you'll find a "secret" deck that is one of the best places to enjoy a close to the water view. Icon of the Seas should also have the lower promenade /jogging track on Deck 5 as well.
i love the icon of the seas
Hi nadaraka9750, thanks for watching.
What the ...
love them all but cant afford the icon class
Hi autobotdiva9268, thanks for watching. Icon of the Seas has some very high pricing, but in time they will become more reasonable.
Yea, the prices are pretty outrageous right now, and that’s probably an understatement.
Booking when they first announced the ship sailings could have saved you a lot. They cost was the same as any other RC ship. However, the prices now are outrageous
Oasis class for me!
Hi theegiftedhippo, thanks for watching. Can't go wrong with any of these Royal Caribbean ships. If you haven't already been on it, Wonder of the Seas is a little different than other Oasis class, but great.
And when rising sea levels have downed all the continents, aliens visiting earth will find these garish monstrosities drifting around a glassy ocean, lifeless and eerily silent, and ponder …..” and this was the height of their civilisation?” 😎
Hi tangatoto362, thanks for watching.
.
Icon class: very long bricks with a thicc hemisphere
Oasis class: Quantum class but even thiccer
Hi OmegaInitials, thanks for watching.
One's for loyal people the other is for new people .
Hi jerryking3667, thanks for watching. Interesting comment, which ship for which group? I can see it either way myself.
