Possibly, but not for minifig scale builds which is the majority of military aircraft in Lego. The issue is these aren’t exact to any specific fighter which is what most most Moc builders are going to want if there working in such a large scale to fit these windshields.
@@spooky2bricks I think out of the box, combining the large and small canopy would make a nice cockpit for a large scale P-51D Mustang. However, I realized now they are 6 stud wide instead of 4 wide which is indeed an issue. If they were 4 stud, they would greatly complement the 4 wide half cylinder pieces, the ones used, for example, in the rear window of Icons Porsche 911 Targa, for a longer canopy of somethng like a Tomcat.
@@CrazyChemistPL The canopy combining may work but the problem I see is for the large scale there just not accurate enough based on other large aircraft builds like some people have done. Most still may just want to resort to making custom canopy designs to preserve accuracy. The 6 Stud wide issue is definitely a concern but I definitely agree that these in combination with other large scale canopy’s ay make for a solid design. Like you said, the 4 wide half cylinders may work really well, perhaps like a large scale version of Cody Osell’s Brickmania F-14 design technique used for the minifig scale design.
I think it looks great. And it´s also a sign on how licensing works. this seems like a good fairly priced model, even if Robin is missing. The sail barge on the other hand is insane
I agree on the UCS sail barge! I have a lot of UCS sets in my collection. But something is off on that Sail Barge in design alone. It feels way too ... I dunno. Simple? Cant put right word. Just gut doesnt like it.
Wow, I had a small metal Batmobile as a kid and it had so many functions. Even the Aston Martin had all the bond gadgets. Deal breaker along with no robin.

Open mouth, what does that mean?
A little light on features (openable hood and wheels that can rotate in TWO directions; wow!) and way more Robin-less than I'd prefer, but honestly I still kind of want it. Can't deny it looks great.
I have been asking for Lego to make this Batmobile in bigger scale for a LONG TIME now and finally It’s Here!!! Thank you for the review and I want to get this! But there is just three problems with the set: NO STEERING? WHAT? LEGO you just sacrificed a really cool function for display. Pretty disappointed that steering wasn’t implemented. And even if this looks awesome, functions were so sacrificed for display. I wished they would at least put more working functions in this to make it more playable and fun. And third, where is the Robin and Joker Minfig? We need them in the set too.
I really like the look of this set and pre-ordered it. Lack of functions doesn't bother me. Delorean doesn't have many, and in reality I never play with my Lego sets , even the Technic ones. It will look great next to DeLorean and Ecto-1 on the shelf for me to admire :)
This set is awesome! Thanks for the review! I wish LEGO will release again some bigger scaled trucks like the iconic 8285 Tow Truck and the 8258 Carne Truck. 😊

It's a small fandom. Even though everyone loves Batman, the demand for the old TV show just isn't there to justify the r&d on a more complex and expensive model. At this price, it will be purchased by many "casuals" because it is a cool display piece.
Awesome vehicule, and _great review as usual._ I'm gonna add *spinning exhaust flames* 🔥and try and remove the *gray windshield outlines* straight away. As for the _mudguards,_ I'll probably try and build a _rounder shape_ later on.
honestly if theyre going to give us another car at this scale with as many functions as the Ecto-One or DeLorean, Id ADORE an Icons Style Mach 5 from Speed Racer!
Yes, rotatable wheels! Really the only good thing about this set is the looks. The lack of functions is a big and real letdown, especially compared to the other large scale batmobiles. Nice review though!
THANK you So much for putting the Ecto in it!! It was me that asked on instagram and I’m so happy you did. It’s a lot bigger than Ecto so I’m out now of buying it as it’s too large!! Thanks again!! ❤❤
Too bad about the missing gadgets, I thought it might be like James Bond’s Aston Martin DB5 set, with pop-up guns, bulletproof rear shield, and ejecting passenger seat! But I guess not. For steering, the siren mounted on top could have connected to a hand-of-god steering mechanism. Oh well, at least everything is labeled.
Fair reveiw. I think a lot of us as well are not exactly going to use the features that are perhaps in the Ecto-1 and the car will remain collecting dust with full pride on the shelf :D (at least mine does). From a display prespective I think the price and volume of stuff in the new set is really really good :)
Being a kid who dropped everything to watch the original Batman back in the day, I absolutely love the look of it and will definitely be getting one to display in my office.
A great review Balaczs, and I totally agree! Too many stickers, and missing a Robin (Boy Wonder) figure. If you look at the Corgi diecast model, it was smaller and had several operating features, while the Batmobile just has rotating wheels (sorry, they rotate in both directions)!
A bit more negative than I would have expected, but I can't really disagree with any of the criticisms. Okay, I don't care about minifigs, so I won't be missing Robin. But a lot more stickers than I expected, and the lack of functions is a bit of a shame. I am surprised by the size though, didn't expect it to be this huge! And because of that, I think this is still a surprising great deal for a Lego set nowadays. Almost makes you wish they had made it a bit more expensive but better. Like €180 but with steering and a few more "essential" prints like the Bat symbol on the sides would still feel totally fine by me. Or maybe even €200 with all prints and a few more gizmos. Still, surely gonna buy this....after I found some place to put it 🙂
I was super excited to see this set review but how disappointed I was with the functionality of it. It looks stunning but that’s about it. The build looks very meh for the most part of it until you get to the outer bodywork lol. This is what would call a car that is all show and no go. Great honest review on this and I would have to agree on all of this 100%
I've been waiting for your review on this model, and I have come to a conclusion. I'm buying it. Simple, although I would have liked to have had a steering mechanism at least, decently size scale, and a decent price. As always, your builds and opinions are greatly appreciated. Side note: sad that there is no Robin.
Maybe they meant that each wheel rotates independently? It's kind of a nice feature for display purposes, as you can have the bat logo on each wheel lined up perfectly with one another.
Agree with you. For a display piece it perfect. I just order it because I got the other batmobile too so would be great on the shelf between the other 2 big cars. To bad about a Robin figure and no gadgets.
I have this on Pre order as i have the Batman collection so its a must for me. Not happy about the 1 minifig would of loved a Robin... as for features, honestly I'm not to bothered as it will be on a shelf to look at like the others, I don't play with them haha (much) The size has shocked me for sure though! wasn't expecting it to be that big.
I have been waiting for Lego to build this model for a few years now, expecting a full Technics set. I will be getting it but really this. is no more than an upscaled version of what we have seen before. Lego you dropped the ball on this one.

There's a whole "Where is Robin?" video out there ;-) I thought it was weird that 76188 had Joker and no Robin. This one is even stranger. The set didn't need a minifigure but a lot of people seem to expect that now. But then, why the rehash of the gargoyle to stand Batman on, and no Robin? I was waiting on this one and will likely get it along with the last Tumbler set just so I have a couple Batmobiles for my collection. I'll add a classic Robin minifigure and build another stand for him (maybe a building wall with both climbing up it - fans of the TV show will get that reference). Thanks for the detailed review and thoughts!
The lack of functions is particularly disappointing considering the excellent James Bond car from a couple years ago that crammed so many amazing working gadgets into an even smaller car. Heck, the Mustang has more functions than this! Hopefully the windshields will hit bricks&pieces, but I can’t see much reason to buy the rest of the set.

Nice set. Was excited to get, but the sticker sheet is a major issue. This set should have used printed pieces. The lack of functions really hurts. Even the Back to the Future DeLorian had a few iconic functions.
While agree with the price, as this is a fraction less than the Lambo, but I have some serious criticisms on this one. Owning both Ecto 1 and large scale 89 Batmobile which make sense at their respectable sizes this could have been significantly smaller for what little it does. The Corvette had a much smaller build with steering so other than simplification for inexperienced builders I can't think of any other excuse for the car not to have functional steering. The display stand with Batman is also severely lacking and looks nearly identical to the 89 era Polybag of Batman. Lego seems to really hate Robin for some reason or other. Definitely going to stick with the minifigure scale 60s Batmobile as this is an easy skip.
When I got into Lego on one lonely night on Amazon I saw the OG Batmobile it was 66 dollars so I purchased it, the next day I went to WalMart to look at Lego and they had the very same set for 22 dollars, I was WTH, it took me 6 months before I would purchase anymore from Amazon, I sent back the original Purchased and I forgot to put the paper back in the box and somehow the seller credited me my money anyways. I am conflicted on this set and I am not sure if I will get it.

I wonder how much more it would have cost to produce a mass produced, injection moulded and machine built, Robin.
No excuse for not having opening doors and functioning steering.
This thing should be as loaded as the DB-5.
Great summery - too bad about the functionality versus ECTO 1
Not sure why they're so against prints for UCS sets and Boy Wonder.
