FYI, fellow TH-camrs heat up the wrap with a heat gun to restore some flex and insert an air nozzle under the wrap to lift it away from the paint. This may help for some or all of it.
That's quite a full spectrum recovery and towing fleet you have there. A full on rainbow collection. You need another operator to make that fleet pay. The new truck is a gem. Great score!
I mean, it's got the right motor, runs incredibly well, I can tell it just wants to go to work for you.. It's a pre-DEF truck, so it doesn't have those problems.. I can tell you like it! I say you should keep it, save some money and go help people with it. I wanna see that. I bet most of us wanna see that!
You've probably figured it out by now, the leaking fuel pump/connecters, is dripping on the air compressor. That black hose you were unsure of I sure is connected to the air intake, which is another good feature International tended to put little round paper air filters on the compressor. So when the fuel pump/connections leak it gets sucked in and ruins the filter, you won't have that problem! Great truck!
Lucas oil and Engine Restorer got 3 years and 60,000 miles more out of a dead motor in an old Dodge Shadow 4 cylinder. It had less than 50 pounds compression on all 4 cylinders. Took about 2 hours cranking it over to get it to idle, very rough. About two more hours idleing and is was pretty good. Drove it for 3 days and about 100 miles, took it thru emissions and it barely passed. Did oil change with Lucas and Engine Restorer every 3,000 miles. I used it about 3 months. Gave car to a friend who had it for 2 years. He did the oil changes the same. Then he gave the car so someone else who drove it about 6,000 miles and it quit. Compression dropped. I went and picked up the car, which last dude trashed. Did oil change with Engine Restorer and got it running, just to see if it would. Then sold car to scrap yard for $350.00 cause it ran. LOL.
Casey as a former OTR driver we put chains in the truck on labor day. I would have loved a set of auto chains but when it got bad enough for chains I parked it till the roads were cleaned up.
I have a friend that just bought out the towing company he had worked for many years. They were closing down there operation here in my city but are still in operation in another county. So they offered him the business and building and land with 3 wreckers. And one of those wreckers is just like your green and black one. He also has an International rollback which I got the honor of getting a ride home in when I totaled my van. The other wrecker he has is a semi wrecker. But his smaller wrecker he uses it non stop and has done him well. Watching this video was like walking down memory lane with his. Thanks for sharing Casey. Can't wait to see what you purchase next.
We need a new tow truck restoration video. Getting all the hydrolic figured out, the green paint off, and just overall everything that needs to be done
Wow, it's already snowing in Oregon! I live in Russia, and we don't have snow yet, and Russia is considered a northern country. You're a cool dude, I love your videos!
Central Oregon is mostly above 4,000ft, and the passes are higher. If you look at our zone for gardening, we can have frost any time of the year. I have seen snow falling in June multiple times, and heard stories of the July 4th parades being cancelled because of snow.
@javabeanz8549 i have been across snowqualmie pass ( Wa state ) in July with snow. It's a crazy thing for a man from Tennessee to see. Almost mind boggling
Congrats on the new truck Casey, and yes you should fix it up and keep it. Now your Tow Company is pretty much complete. Don't sell it lol. Thanks for the video 👋
Cables, if you're lucky and there's no burrs, might be okay. My dozer winch I'd spool it out every year, put on a leather glove and a rubber glove over it and dump most of a half gallon of bar and chain oil over the cable and work it in by hand to get it to soak into the core.
NOT ready for snow! Don't wanna put the plow on. I'm ready for spring! Just getting ready to put my motorhome away for winter, and I'm ready to bring it out for spring! When you are old and comprised mostly of scar tissue and arthritis, cold air is mighty unpleasant!
I am like 95% sure that tow truck has towed me. I almost crapped when I saw it. Smoked a tranny (transmission, to be clear! In this modern world, gotta be clear!) on the way back North. Wanna say he towed me into Cloverdale, he was out of a wide spot in the road south of there, with a name that made me think of mining. It escapes me currently. Was a good dude, with a sense of humor. I'm always talking crap, so it was a good fit.
Hey Casey, once the truck is cleaned, Plastic razer blades will lift the wrap, a heatgun (or haidryer) maybe usefull in the sections that are not so brittle, ethanol free pump gas will remove the glue & doesnt flash off as fast as Acetone, neither will damage the paint. Very cool looking truck!
Well Casey it seems like you are going to have to get a driver to help you out lol 😂but looking at the new tow truck I think black with a red rap that will blend in perfectly 👌 😊
2:09 that almost made my day. Just perfect slow and controlled for both the weather and the fact that stopped vehicles are present. even by 32:00 he hasn't tested the light bar? how thats the first thing i would have tested. THe truck is great except for mostly dead gauges. 36:53 except for power consumption although on a truck like that energy is not a problem or a focus. 40:14 even some school buses I just say a spec plate(idk) and it weight 17.8k gross. Also, low gear is probably gonna be useful for something.
I've driven over that pass many times (like a lot of people). That pass can get really nasty in the winter. Of course, now I live in Reno, Nevada and the Donner Pass on I-80 is often closed for several days at a time.
Also I've noticed that some states in the Northwest are pushing back the chain requirement to 1 October instead of 1 November so keep an eye out! Love the content!!
That’s a great unit Casey, we bought a new 897 (14 ton) in 2000, matched it with a 2000 Chevy 6500, 300 Cat, 9 spd Roadranger, air brakes, great set up. Most of our fleet were Vulcan, from one tons to our Peterbilt 379, I think you will see what a nice, versatile unit that is. Congrats on the purchase!
Is the green wrecker is more capable than the little red wreaker? Edit: it would look great in all black Edit 2: should have just waited to watch the video in full when you explained and answered my question 😅
When I was towing early 70s some of the hand carried extension cable on a wheel. Often looked like spaghetti. I took idea from Grandad, coiled cable in a tire. Rag tied to last end in as mark. Roll to vehicle, hook on, then feed back to main hook. Leave cable running thru tire, in case something breaks.
Highly recommend buying the 90 degree air to air boot that goes into the top of the engine and carrying a spare. They always crack and you lose all boost. Looks like a great old truck.
Casey, I have a friend who is a keen amateur cyclist, he has one or two bikes.... Amongst his peer group they have a saying that the correct number of bikes to own is (N+1) where N is the number of bikes you currently have. There is ALWAYS another one that you need, that is slightly different from what you have at the moment!!
HEY GIZMO, I HAVE 8 BIKES INSIDE MY APARTMENT!!! SMALL BIKE SHOP..... ALL "SPECIALISTS PER TERRAIN" BIKES ! BUT DADDY SMOOTER SAID " YOU CANT RIDE TWO HORSES WITH ONE ASS, SUGERBEE.......!" SWEET HOME ALABAMA"
I wä driving front wheel drives for awhile, 90 Dodge Caravan. After it broke down i bought a 97 Dodge Dakota 2 wd. Itreally surprised me at how tight the 2wd turned.
The part you touched on the ds of engine saying it was damp, that's your compressor. The dampness is either oil from the high pressure oil pump mounted above the compressor, or fuel from the fuel lift pump also mounted there. Most likely fuel seeping out of the sleeves international liked to use on their hard lines.
25:34 you just touched the air compressor. It’s under the line that’s wet. It’s a bendex two flow 550 compressor. Change the unloader valves. And go. Maybe the governor. Should be good. Unless the air drier is mucked ??
Very nice, good looking truck. Love the turning radius. As good as the green looks, can't wait to see it replaced with some red wrap and Cascade Company logos on it. Certain to provide lots of good content going through it and bringing it up to "Casey Standards", even boring stuff like getting the rust out of the top storage lockers and freeing up the boom controls.
Casey, I have pulled decals as a job. Don't use heat! Get a hand held steamer. They are cheap. Steam makes the glue release. Then some citrus glue remover and it will be clean! Probable have nice paint under there!
Also, wait until spring and use a heat gun to soften the adhesive as you pull the wrap off. Many youtubers have done this on their videos (I think Tavarish did it on a Mercedes).
Little red wrecker was at Nate's getting the clutch installed. Remember. I'm thinking the new green wrecker would be ideal for going into the woods and getting the fire service trucks out when they breakdown or take a regen nap 💤.
Tunnel box = poor man’s sleeper 😂
Your international buddy going to be jealous.
FYI, fellow TH-camrs heat up the wrap with a heat gun to restore some flex and insert an air nozzle under the wrap to lift it away from the paint. This may help for some or all of it.

Don't forget to put the light bar away! :)
I'm sure he forgot we'll find out tomorrow.
Give us a big series on this truck!!!

No, there are vehicles in Oregon that don't have chipped windshields, they are brand new sitting in the lots still
We need a new tow truck restoration video. Getting all the hydrolic figured out, the green paint off, and just overall everything that needs to be done
Love the small Green Machine.
Nick name it the Vulcan Hulk, just have the Christmas colors for Cascade, Red and Green!
the Technically Medium Green Machine
I kinda love that you have enough trucks to just lose one somewhere in the yard 😂
That's a problem I would love to have!
It still at Elite Fleet Auto, hahaha
This content deserves an award!
Bout time the snow arrived, was used to seeing it every year living there
You always know what makes a great video!
😂😂 Casey you are a riot it's a tunnel shaped like a box .
Hence that's why it's called a tunnel box😂!!
I luv the new truck!👍
🎉👍
Maybe its a box with a tunnel instead... well never know but its cool an it works!!
Wow, it's already snowing in Oregon! I live in Russia, and we don't have snow yet, and Russia is considered a northern country. You're a cool dude, I love your videos!
I live in St. Petersburg and it's not snowing here either . But it seldom snows in Florida 🙂
This is our 3rd snow up in the mountain passes this year.
Casey is at altitude not only latitude. It snows in the tropics at altitude.
Central Oregon is mostly above 4,000ft, and the passes are higher. If you look at our zone for gardening, we can have frost any time of the year. I have seen snow falling in June multiple times, and heard stories of the July 4th parades being cancelled because of snow.

love the old school rotators.
Casey finally got a rotator, 😂
I've been following your channel for ages, love it!
Congrats on the new truck Casey, and yes you should fix it up and keep it. Now your Tow Company is pretty much complete. Don't sell it lol. Thanks for the video 👋
Might have to eraser wheel a bunch of that wrap. Looks like a really handy machine!
Cables, if you're lucky and there's no burrs, might be okay. My dozer winch I'd spool it out every year, put on a leather glove and a rubber glove over it and dump most of a half gallon of bar and chain oil over the cable and work it in by hand to get it to soak into the core.
Your videos are an example of how to make quality and interesting content. Thank you so much for your hard work!🐥🖤🌅

Now to re-paint the new truck Red and White.
That guy in the box truck, I bet he was puckered right tight as he was spinning around.
You most definitely have a company now😊 a very impressive group of vehicles.
Thank you for sharing 👌 😊

I love new stuff. Great job!
Well Casey it seems like you are going to have to get a driver to help you out lol 😂but looking at the new tow truck I think black with a red rap that will blend in perfectly 👌 😊
I think I found one of those Tru-Hitches here in Western NY. Been sitting in the weeds next to a heavy towing outfit for as long as I can remember.
You get air from the compressor mounted to the engine… when you opened the hood I figured you would have seen it, good thing it wasn’t a snake
Yeah i was screaming an pointing the whole time
@ I was also🤣🤣🤣
🎉🎉🎉🎉😂😢😢🎉🎉🎉😢🎉🎉🎉😢😢😢😢😢🎉😢🎉🎉😢😢🎉😢😢🎉😢🎉🎉😢😢😢🎉😢😢🎉🎉🎉😂🎉😢🎉🎉🎉😢

Use a heat gun to heat the wrap
Who was supposed to keep watch and keep Casey company...well at least we get another video .ps love the new truck
I like the new rig…hope you can use it on some recoveries 👍🏻👍🏻
I've driven over that pass many times (like a lot of people). That pass can get really nasty in the winter. Of course, now I live in Reno, Nevada and the Donner Pass on I-80 is often closed for several days at a time.
Wonder how long it will be before 406 garage will want to buy it. Nice truck, great buy i think.
Love the videos glad it's snowing again here
"Dang. I've got a whole towing company." Yeah, how did that happen? Which one will the new employee (wife) drive? ❤
Wow! Snow! I just checked WSDOT and Snoqualmie doesn’t have snow yet 😢
Also I've noticed that some states in the Northwest are pushing back the chain requirement to 1 October instead of 1 November so keep an eye out! Love the content!!
I like the green wrap! 😮
I like that green truck.
Love your new to you truck
0:12 I think the fire danger level can be reduced now:)
Ooo neat little unit there Casey.
Well, good morning.
I think Ben’s addiction has rubbed off on you 😂
I was thinking that Ben may be getting a new truck in the future.
Yep, if Casey sells it, it would probably end up at Ben’s place
That’s a great unit Casey, we bought a new 897 (14 ton) in 2000, matched it with a 2000 Chevy 6500, 300 Cat, 9 spd Roadranger, air brakes, great set up. Very interesting that is a nice truck.. it will be very useful 🙏😊
Is the green wrecker is more capable than the little red wreaker?
Edit: it would look great in all black
Edit 2: should have just waited to watch the video in full when you explained and answered my question 😅
Definitely a nice medium duty rig . Another a cool rig for Casey and Grumpy does things .
Nice truck by the way!
When I was towing early 70s some of the hand carried extension cable on a wheel. Often looked like spaghetti. I took idea from Grandad, coiled cable in a tire. Rag tied to last end in as mark. The “Incredible Hulk”😎 Nice purchase to use or sell and make money!
Great video and great add to the fleet
I love how you spend money. I do expect you to flip something at some point, but you always buy new stuff.
You scored an amazing truck. Granted it will take some TLC but you are the best person to do that.
Love your channel and content.
Great new truck. I was thinking you needed to get them all matching colors now. Oh BTW looks like 2 of the bed lights are out (passenger side).
Congratulations on your new addition 😂

I give it an 80% chance it'll be sold by Easter 2025
as he's said before, everything is for sale, that's a major source of income - buy cheap and sell sorted for $$$$$$
Yes it is impressive.
Boys and their toys. Your videos are definitely entertaining and I look forward to them all the time.
Vulcans were the shit in the 90's , I started towing in 92 and just retired a couple months ago
That's a nice little truck mate.
25:34 you just touched the air compressor. It’s under the line that’s wet. It’s a bendex two flow 550 compressor. Change the unloader valves. And go. Maybe the governor. Should be good. Unless the air drier is mucked ??
18:50 When taking the wrap off, heat up a section with a heat gun first, this may significantly help.
I use that same body but it’s on a kenworth. The set up you have will surprise you
Another nice tool for your arsenal casey
Great find great unit 👍🏼 probably the most dependable wrecker made. Just carry a spare cam sensor, other than that these IH are a workhorse.
You need to recognize you have a problem. Then see if you can get help!😂😂😂
Very nice, good looking truck. Love the turning radius. As good as the green looks, can't wait to see it replaced with some red wrap and Cascade Company logos on it. To remove wrap there is a solvent that softens the wrap I’ve also seen compressed air used and or a heat gun . Good luck 😂
YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Funny here in Quebec, still on grass..
Your friends at Zacklift should make a retrofit line of products for that wheel lift.
21:19 two flow 550 compressor
You were touching the top off the air compressor when you were trying to find where your leak was on the left side of the engine.
At 21:20, in foreground?
light bar still on ya new truck
Your new employee sure has a steep learning curve ahead. ;)

Nice truck every thing should be an easy fix
Little red wrecker was at Nate's getting the clutch installed. Remember.
I'm thinking the new green wrecker would be ideal for going into the woods and getting the fire service trucks out when they breakdown or take a regen nap 💤.
air compresser is on top of the engine, but you knew that !!!! Right!!!
Little wrecker is at Nate’s getting clutch fixed
🤣🤣🤣A boy and his toys. How fun is that.
🎼🎵🎶Oh where oh where has my red truck gone 🎼🎵🎶 🙏❤️😎🤙
The aircomp is on the driverside of the engine where it leakes, I think.
Had a truck just like that only it was white.. did a lot of work with it.. Handy truck
I am surprised the green is a wrap. On camera it looks nicely aged.
Doesn’t Robbie owe you a favor? Just a thought.
Sounds like the beginning to a great plan.
With the rust and wear and tear? Casey would never see it again.
