I own one of these too and my experience has been a little more positive. The finish is great and the trigger is actually pretty good. Mine shoots high as well, but it doesn't bother me enough yet to look for a taller front sight. 1,000 rounds and zero malfunctions. Great videos, keep up the good work!
Also have one but modified it a little and like it more now. Changed out the beavertail grip safety which was fit horribly to a Chen beavertail. Required modifying the frame but it is now fitted like a premium expensive 1911. I had my gunsmith reblue the frame to an all matte. Overall very happy
Mine came perfectly fine, no QC issues. Trigger is solid, tight fit (especially where it matters - barrel to bushing fitment), finish held up fine, and contrary to others - I don't mind the markings. Overall I think it's a great buy - I don't like the tiny frame safety, but I do like the deeper undercut, front grip serrations, and the brass bead. After shooting and having a lot of fun with it, decided it was a great gun to send off and upgrade. Sent it to NightHawk and now it is a beast.
mine shoots dead center at 15 yards and trigger is nice, not a match trigger but works just fine for me....and yes you can buy aSprinfield for 400 less or 3 Tisas...but it's a Colt.
Very true. I love Colt. I own 6 Colt 1911’s man. I just want them to do better. I’m not saying they have to be perfect but come on. Check out my other Colt videos and I will be dropping more of them soon. Thanks for the comment. 🤠
I own one of these. I don't understand why Colt printed "Limited Edition" on the slide! There is no need for this and its cheesy. I'm assuming the internal small parts are MIM, like all modern Colts. Mine has QC issues - the blued finish on the slide is rough and the grip safety rattles like crazy. For the money, you can buy four Tisas 1911s that have all tool steel parts and better fit and finish. I like the short trigger, ring hammer, and gold bead front sight. I'm surprised that CZ is not correcting these QC issues at Colt.
Amen. Thats why I own a lot of TISAS 1911’s. Much better product for a much better price. I can’t figure out why COLT does this. They just can’t fix themselves. I think a lot of COLT guys were also hoping that CZ was going to fix them but sadly they haven’t yet.
I’m with ya with the “limited edition” roll mark. My biggest complaint with a lot of 1911’s is all the wordage the manufacturer feels they need to slap on the slides. Simple is beautiful.
I like the GI style thumb safety. I know it's not in vogue these days, but I've never had a problem with it. I actually prefer it with the compact and sub-compact 1911s.
Great review of the Colt 1911. I had the Colt Classic 45acp and it had the plastic main spring housing, plastic come on and one mag also. I think they can do better and I'm with you on that. Thanks for the video.PS I got the MAC JSOC this week, know that is one awesome 1911!
I looked at one of these about 2 hrs ago... i'm in the market for a C45 fullsize. The one i saw was about the same price. It felt pretty good in the hand. i have another shop to check out before i make a decision.
Well i took it home last night .just working the slide and the safety i think that it need a break in... and the colt mag needed some coaxing to seat it home. 3 digi SN starting with " 6" Came with a Black Mag. wish us luck.
I doubt the slide story. The old slides were only hardened in specific areas and would not be put in a modern gun almost certainly for liability reasons. The roll stamps also look a little crisper and slightly different than my WW2 Colt slide. The font isn't exactly the same, a little thicker on yours. Also the ejection port is lower than it would have been on a WW2 slide. More than likely they just used the roll stamps they had for their WW2 Anniversary Edition M1911A1 and decided to use it on this as well.
Whoooo! 1300 Hundy! Looks like my Colt traditional with just a few upgrades sights and safeties. I paid just under 800 for mine 2 years ago. Yes only 1 mag and really nothing else. Mine shoots beautifully. Of course I have nothing else to compare I only have one 1911.
I think last time I counted I have over 20 1911’s by a bunch of different manufacturers so I have a lot to compare Colt’s to and I have a $329 TISAS 1911 with better fit and finish and quality control than Colt. But love Colt. They just need to do better.
@@wyominggunproject that’s awesome man! I compare my 1911 vs my Glock 21 no contest. The Glock sucks! No, Colt did not "find" 5,000 slides from WWI or WWII. They are using that rollmark on other guns. It is just a rollmark. that is reminiscent of the old gun.
I had another person comment on this and he said they found the tool stamp and figured they could get 5000 stamps out of it before it was completely worn out so they used it on this model. 🤠

I had a Government Competition for less then a ween and traded it back. The finish on the controls looked like a kindergarten art project and the mainspring housing was plastic. I couldn’t live with that. Not on a 1k gun.
Kimber Royal should be blued within that price range, but it rusts really easily from what I understand. There's also a 1911 from the Phillipines that is blued. Forgot the two word name of the brand...
The new basic classic series 70 has a more modern tear drop safety on it. I’m surprised the SE model has the tiny GI thumb safety. Not a big deal, just kinda odd/funny.
The slide is new mfg, the take down notch is the style from a series 80 . Series 70 and pre have the closer take down notch to the slide lock. Maybe colt had 5000 slides left over from the 100 tier 1 - 3 anniversary roll marked slides laying around. Beautiful gun though.

I had a Government Competition for less then a ween and traded it back. The finish on the controls looked like a kindergarten art project and the mainspring housing was plastic. I couldn’t live with that. Not on a 1k gun.
@@lj.7311 I kept mine but mostly it makes me mad.
I have five Colt 1911’s and every one of them has some kind of issue. I might do a video on everything wrong with my Colt’s.
So this is sorta blued…. Do you know of an American made 1911 sub 2k that is blued?
Kimber Royal should be blued within that price range, but it rusts really easily from what I understand.
There's also a 1911 from the Phillipines that is blued. Forgot the two word name of the brand...
@@enricomandragona163 Oh yeah!!! Thanks I totally forgot
Is that a series 70 or 80? Thank you in advance.
Series 70 my friend and you’re welcome. 🤠
Yes you right une magazine ......
That’s unfortunate, mine is perfect. I don’t care about the little gap in the grip lol and my trigger is flawless. I guess it really is hit or miss.
Yep. That’s exactly the problem is the inconsistency in build quality and QC. Just picked up a Delta Elite that is great.
The new basic classic series 70 has a more modern tear drop safety on it. I’m surprised the SE model has the tiny GI thumb safety. Not a big deal, just kinda odd/funny.
@@enricomandragona163 True, but it’s its own thing. That’s how it was made to be. That’s what it is.
If only Tisas would release a blued, all steel, French cut, ball cut, top serrated, and front strap checkered, Carry B45. I'd be all over it. Right now I own 4 Tisas, and not one of them has rattled or jammed.
Agreed. Tisas would kill it if they did that.
Great video! I see you have a lot of knowledge of 1911s. Do you have, or can you make a buying guide for this pistol?
A buying guide for 1911’s?
@@wyominggunproject yes, 1911s in general. What to look for in the store. Things like you showed here. How it should be fitted etc.
Good idea🤠
Don’t buy a Colt!
@@enricomandragona163 I am based in Europe, so American made is import for me, but I guess you mean Norinco etc. ;)
so looking at the comments... there are better options at this price point. should have gone higher end.. live n learn
Colt doesn’t even tune the extractors in the factory!
Yep. 👍🏻
my trigger had the same problem....i fixed it with a finishing stone...a tigger in such condition is dangerous
Dang that trigger looks terrible. 3 stage trigger lol
👍🏻
Good review thanks limited edition of 5000 nonsense limited editions should be under 1000
The one i ordered has a great trigger. Its the worst fit 1911 ive ever seen otheriwse. It sucks because it could be so awesome.
And it should be, imagine a COLT with Dan Wesson, Ed Brown build quality, that’s the way it should be!
You can't expect quality from any major companies anymore. Greed has consumed this country
I love Colt but I hate that they put so much damn text on the side of the slide!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@@enricomandragona163 I don’t have to like a bunch of text on a gun.
@@enricomandragona163 I never did and I never will…..
Yes I do @@enricomandragona163
Keep your new stuff all mine are vintage and better made all around.
Shame on Colt
