    That’s pretty cool but if you have clickers you need a different die not a fancy tool. I guess you would need the tool to fix the damaged cases though. Pretty neat!

    "Shrinking" and "stretching" are common terms in metal working, especially auto body custom work. Both displace material in order to accomplish a goal. So, where is the material that is being displaced, in this instance brass, going? Adding to the diameter of the case body above the case head? Adding to the overall length of the case? Where?

    Here in Brazil we are using almost the same kind of rollsizers in pistol calibers. And I have watched increasing number of busted cases on extractor groove! I believe that rollsizers are increasing the brittleness of the cases, leading to this weird failure.

    • @Patrick-xd8jv

    • @bungiemia

      You can never fully size the base of the casing, roll sizing gets that 5% of that case back within specifications. Its more for people that pick up range brass that was not fireformed to that particular rifle or pistol.

    • @FClassJohn
      @FClassJohn  28 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      True on the range brass but all very vital in the rifle competition world. Even with proper firing and chambers, using the Rollsizer lets you use brass much longer as well.

    Well another expensive tool for just the elite. However, they are missing the real use of a roll sizer. If the die and drum were to also fit into the extractor groove, then one could resize the primer pocket on those cases that were over stressed by pressure but not otherwise destroyed. The problem is the extractor grooves are not uniform in profile and a set of dies would be required for every brand/caliber. However, the pockets / base area would be hardened and likely never expand again to uselessness. If pockets were over squeezed, then one could use a pocket uniforming tool to fix the undersize.

      @FClassJohn  22 วันที่ผ่านมา

      it's when your base expands and stick in the chamber causing a click upon opening your bolt. More obnoxious than anything else and usually causes your rifle to move more than you'd like in your position.

      Won't a small base die do the same thing

    • @rollsizer5623
      @rollsizer5623 28 วันที่ผ่านมา +3

      @hbudsmalley6317 no, small base does cannot reach the bottom of the case. They "achieve" a partial sizing by squeezing the crap out of the rest of the case to pull in the base. This leads to pronounced "coke bottle " in the case body as well as a noticeable sharp edge at the base where the Webb meets the case sidewall. Neither is good.
      The rollsizers remove the base bulge and the normal sizing dies do the rest and they overlap about 1/4" above the extractor groove.
