    I would love to see an actual comparison of the yellow & white LED against the halogen light in a simulated weather event such as fog using a fog machine and mist using maybe something like a hose on the mist setting.

      A more common situation to test would be wet dark black asphalt roads with varying intensity of rain. It seems "blue" LED lights work best on dry concrete roads with no rain which is the least challenging night driving situation with lights anyway. Hopefully a high output 2500K light technology for low beams is on the horizon. This would also help with not dazzling other driver eyes.

      Here ya go. Just love how he did the test. Hard to simulate/test in real foggy conditions. But my normal H11 halogen used for my foglights just work great. What is important is proper aiming. Just don't think factory settings is good. Here is a more detailed test. th-cam.com/video/6B6zg5crHAs/w-d-xo.html

    This is why I went back to yellow Halogens in my fogs. I live in an area where we see a lot of sea fog during the winter. Add to this winding coastal roads with knarly drop-offs and it makes for a bad combination. First time driving home in the fog at night with LEDs in the fog lights was enough to convince me they sucked. lol Though best fog light I have ever owned where the old Lucas units, had a set on an old Jag and they were just phenomenal in bad weather. I was still using them on my F250 right up until 2019.

      Definitely a good call! The LED bulbs are brighter overall but that halogen just works wonders for punching through that fog!

    Not sure about the street,
    But using offroad led pods (4x4 specific) on my mountain bike on single track..
    White led, whether slightly yellow hue, pure white or blue hue... appears more brighter....but yellow LED I actually see more, things are more distinctive .

  • @John-js9je
    @John-js9je 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Yes. Warmer wavelengths from pure yellow or amber halogens scatter less than the yellow from LEDs because most modern LEDs contain a mixture of specific light colors. Halogens output a continuum. It’s the uncontrolled scattering that reduces visibility in inclement weather or foggy or dusty conditions. Scattering can be reduced with lighting that outputs a pure yellow or amber tint with little or no shorter wavelengths mixed in. However, in very dark conditions, the eye’s sensitivity is reduced to very long wavelengths (i.e. deep orange and red). Control the scattering from your fog lights or headlights, and your visibility increases.

    I had yellow LED's in my Hella 550 lights on my Jeep, the factory fog lights were removed by the bigger tires. After one of them failed I installed Hella Xtreme Yellow bulbs, the difference in brightness was noticeable however they seemed to cut through the ground level blowing snow better than the LED yellow ones did. Both yellow bulbs gave MUCH better perceived visibility than white ones however the Hella yellow halogens were the best.

      I did the test, the yellow fog light led vs halogen, in rain, heavy fog, heavy dust and snow, and while the led scatters and lights up the surroundings very nicely and is good for close distances, the halogen (hella extreme yellow foglights) cuts trough all of it as a knife in butter. Led is way brighter and halogen works way better despite being less bright.

    Can you please explain why you wouldn’t recommend yellow bulbs in the headlight? I want to run a gtr 2 white bulb(s) for my low beams and a gtr 2 yellow bulb(s) for my high beams… wouldn’t that be the best of both worlds?

    • @HeadlightRevolution
      @HeadlightRevolution  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Fantastic question! This is an appealing idea to go after since you'd have both colors at your fingertips, however there is a distinct disadvantage to this. Yellow light does not travel as far of a distance as white does, so it'll dissapate quicker than a white light will. For a High beam, the main purpose is to extend your overall vision down the road as far as you can see. Going to a yellow bulb will hurt this distance ability, defeating the purpose of your headlights!
      The best way to go about it would be a Yellow fog light to supplement your white low/high beams. 🤝 Let us know if you have any questions!

    Hello guys great work with content, i drive a polo 6r with dual h7 beams for high and low, as with factory lights they are like candles especially in india when people blind with high beams.
    What would you suggest among these combination
    1. D2r 35w 4300k hid bulbs low beam and Philips ultinon 9000 high beam
    2.upgrade fog lamps to projector setup with warm color for bad weather and ultinons in low beam.
    3.get higher wattage halogen for low beam( worried about heat damage)

    random question, but why does it seem like projector lights cut through rain better than reflector lights? i have two cars with the same brightness headlights, ones a projector and ones a reflector. the reflectors seem to scatter and reflect snow and rain back at me, no pun intended, while the projectors go right thru it and sometimes you cant even see the rain falling

    Wouldn’t yellow filters (ie: Lamin-x) convert the LED light into narrow spectrum, making them as good as or better than yellow halogen fog lights?

    • @HeadlightRevolution
      @HeadlightRevolution  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The actual color of LED is more blue, the yellow filter doesn't completely block out this blue light meaning a halogen would actually be more efficient in some cases. LED would be brighter overall though!

    Alright so all the cars I have have either LEDs or HID upgrades and they work awesomely, but my 2014 taurus hates any upgrades. It came with a 9012 hi/lo beam projectors and I have tried some cheap LEDs and they sucked, tried Auxbeam (midtier in my eyes) and still worse, got a HID kit but it blew fuses all the time, then finally got some gtr lighting LEDs and still no improvement.
