  • Episode 3:
Here are small fragments of Dr. Moshe Feldenkrais's book Awareness Through Movement with my Commentary. We value your unique perspective and invite you to join our book club, where we could discuss a few chapters and your understanding of the concepts. Your likes, dislikes, and comments below are welcome and eagerly anticipated. This episode includes:
    0:00 - 0:35 Introduction and brief recap
    0:36 - 3:01 Paragraph 5: "Relaxation - a concept that is often misunderstood."
    3:02 - 3:09 Yikes - the old, crude language.
3:10 - 3:58 Commentary: Didn't you say previously that muscles work when the skeleton is improperly organized to cancel gravity?
3:59 - 4:18 Two key points: lack of awareness and excessive contraction of antigravity muscles.
4:19 - 4:59 Demonstration of TMJ on the skeleton.
5:00 - 6:24 Please check the state of your own jaw - Practice.
    6:25 - 6:41 A glimpse into an ideal state.
    6:42 - 8:21 Paragraph 6: "No awareness of action in anti-activity muscles."
8:22 - 9:19 Demonstration on the skull: The center of mass is in front of points of support.
9:20 - 9:29 Calf muscles need to stay contracted when we stand.
9:30 -10:18 Toe flexors strength is a great predictor of the risk of falls.
10:19 - 11:16 Paragraph 7: "We stand without knowing how."
11:17 - 11:42 Commentary: How do you become aware of the antigravity muscles?
11:43 - 12:01 Two separate places in the nervous system control voluntary and automatic activities.
12:02 - 12:42 Need for training the automatic pilot for succesful postural and movement training.
12:43 - 13:54 Ideally, antigravity muscles spontaneously contract until they balance exactly the pull of gravity. Errors are common.
13:55 - 15:24 Paragraph 8: "The upright posture is maintained by an old part of the nervous system."
15:25 - 16:20 Commentary: Differences between spontaneous and deliberate movement.
16:21 -16:54 Training Central Pattern Generators (CPGs).
16:55 -18:08 Upper nervous system centers can override the lower parts, but such control is not energy efficient.
18:09 - 18:20 Goodbye; please comment, like, and subscribe._____________________________________

Feldenkrais is the bomb!!! I love doing it. I love knowing it and I love hearing about it. If I were younger I'd def become a Feldenkrais practitioner.

    Love your project
Imo .. Concerning the holding of the lower jaw muscles …
… let go your muscles of the lower jaw in your speaking breakes … let go 😊😊😊
Thats‘ s the difference the FK method makes. It‘s all about being able to use the minimum of effort for whatever.
It‘s possible to make it look like your mouth is closed while it might be just a sticky holding of your lips with the jaw-muscles ( nearly) 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️
