I will always like this city irregardless of what others have to say.thanks for sharing this with us.
As someone from Maryland, I’ve never been here and didn’t even know it existed until a few days ago. Definitely looks a lot different from the rest of the state.
This reminds me more of West Virginia or western parts of Virginia
This is exactly what I imagine Baltimore looked like before its boom
Thank you for this video. My wife and I were born and raised in Cumberland (1949-1971). There was great employment then and very good memories. Enjoyed your tour.
Very good capture of these streets and neighborhoods! Unvarnished and unmusicfied! Can’t argue with that. Names of streets captioned a real plus!
dude, you totally missed Canal Street and the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad station and other cutesy storefronts, etc. and the Crabby Pig, a decent dive for food. :)
With the surrounding mountains all around Cumberland, Maryland, I bet you it's beautiful in the winter time!
Also in the FALL! 🍁🍂
Even the prisons are scenic. I worked at both and it’s beautiful outside year round
Cumberland looks like a nice town to stop by and visit. Great Drive!
It ain't. I live there. The whole town is a homeless and crime ridden mess of a city. It's like if you took all of Chicago's bad stereotypes and made them into a city.
Cumberland looks like a nice town! Thank you for the drive through!
You bet!
FYI, I live there. It's a crime filled mess of a city, there's so much road construction (as you can see in the video), and like a quarter of the entire down-town is the hood.
the buildings are just so Awesome!
In 2006 I knew a guy who moved from pa to work at a mutual friends store on Center street. He was there a week, went to work , came home to find his home empty, clothes, furniture ... everything. All his new neighbors said they didn't see anything. Im not saying the whole place is like that, but that ruined the dudes life at that point. Crazy stuff. It is a beautiful place .Good video
That area is trashy and drug ridden. It's a huge issue, I have family nearby, it's common knowledge. Not a good area.
Oh my gosh! I know where all of this is! I live here now with my older sister and youngest nephew! We moved here in November of 2022, Love it here! 😊
How are the schools in Cumberland?
@@ClariseAnnetteBrooks I don't know, But my sister works at Parkside school in Lavale it's a very nice school, I've been in it one time before, It's only like 7 miles from Cumberland.
Never herd of Cumberland MD until one day digging into my late parents paperwork, and found their marriage license, they got married in Cumberland MD in April 1965 and I was born in December 1965 nobody told me my mother was already pregnant, I bet my last dollar my grandfather probably made them get married grandpa didn't play no games especially with his daughters😂
Cumberland us actually a very old town. It was the former sight of Ft. Cumberland, during the French& Indian War! A young Col. George Washington was stationed here! He and British General Edward Braddock marched North from Cumberland to Ft. Duquesne, later called Ft. Pitt, present day sight of the great city of Pittsburgh! Cumberland was the home of Emmanual Custer ,a blacksmith and father of General George Custer! The Custer family later moved west to Michigan . It was also the home of the Dent Family. Julia Dent was the wife of Union General US Grant. Like the Custer family , the Dent family moved west and ended up in Missouri where US Grant met his wife!
I love the temperature coming up like that. that is so awesome
Cumberland always reminded me of a miniature Pittsburgh.
More like a miniature version of Pittsburgh's hood.
Beautiful
Gotta be careful in Cumberland, Md Mr. Mileage. Just driving through can lead to instant and permanent Fentanyl addiction
I stop there and ate at Bob Evans.. town seem alright to me
I liked it as well. I had a bad impression given how cheap real estate is and internet talk but I did not think it was that bad a place. Not saying its paradise but has potential.
Lock your doors and stay I your vehicle😅
👍🤣🤣Right! I lived there from Oct. 2013 to July of 2014, and I learned that Cumberland, MD is a city where liberalism (as backward as it is) reigns supreme! I saw the scariest looking people back then, usually at the McDooDoo Hole in Queen City Plaza near what I think used to be the homeless shelter across those damn railroad tracks on Queen City Pavement! That's one city I'll never go back to.
Is it a blue city? @charleswoods2996
That's too bad. 😢
I don't know, whenever I see a Ramada hotel I get bad vibes 😬
Haha. I've occasionally been to a few decent ones but yeah they're usually a brand to avoid.
If you work remotely it’s a good place to live.
Cumberland really is a beautiful city. It's a shame that it's like this because there is a real charm to it. I heard this place was crawling with drugs, which is ironic because it looked so quaint from the highway. I guess that was always an inevitability, being an economically depressed area with the only jobs being at a literal federal prison
seems hazy. Was this a poor air quality day?
I wish Josh Kelty was an advocate against domestic violence rather than an advocate of domestic violence. I wish he would do his job rather than abuse his position to get men off!
Cool place to drop by as a tourist, but don't move here unless you have a skilled trade, getting a job out here is fucking absurd
I live in California and visit Cumberland and Lavale often. It’s really beautiful and mostly clean. California has garbage and homeless everywhere. I don’t see it when I visit these parts. Thinking about investing here properties are very affordable.
Cumberland also has the garbage, and homelessness. I mean. Definitely less than San Antonio or Fresno.
If you're presently living in California you can do a lot worse than the Cumberland, MD. area. There is work there but it's not as plentiful or varied as the DC suburbs.
❗ Promo sm
