It's so interesting to see and hear Sonic in such a vulnerable state. The numb and cold line... you could hear his agony. Roger's performance in this game was so great

As if Sonic was taking a cock in his ass..so, so dramatic..
It's established that while in Cyberspace you lose external stimuli, so it's likely that as Sonic gets further and further corrupted he begins losing touch with his own body.
These lines would've been fantastic for fleshing out that aspect of corruption.
Apparently they're idle lines, like in the Adventure games and Heroes.
Except, the game never said that…

@@thefastcommenter7774 Amy mentions that while in cyberspace she couldn't feel anything, it was like falling. Tails also mentions something about it, forget the exact line, I forget if Knuckles has a line on it but Eggman does.
I can actually definitely say "I'm so cold now... numb..." _was_ indeed used. I got one of the meteor showers on Rhea island, and not wanting the slots to block the view of the platforming, i opted to just wait the night out before continuing. After a couple minutes of just standing there, Sonic said that line. It scared the hell out of me ngl. I think it's possible based on that that a lot of these dialogue lines people think were cut actually weren't, and are instead meant to trigger upon being idle for periods of time. It's just that nobody gets them because, well, it's a sonic game. You don't really stand around doing nothing alot

@@ataladin87 it just startled me lol, it was completely silent otherwise save for the background music and I wasn't expecting to hear Sonic suddenly say something out of the blue after minutes of nothing
I really wish these played while your were moving around. I can appreciate making them idle only, as though while Sonic stops to take in the view he thinks about his friends and past adventures. However staying still is such a rarity in this game and as a result you miss a lot of this genuinely great dialogue.
So it's like Sonic Adventure... there are lines for almost everything but some can't be heard due to fast phased stuff...
" there's a chaos emerald nearby... I should probably grab it." is a line you get for going idle near a chaos emerald vault
guess they were originally going for a memory loss plot but abandoned it
Very early leaks implied this as well, so I was surprised to see this part not really happen at all outside of this dialogue.

this actually makes that “cyberspace is revolved around sonic’s memories” thing make sense along with the rumors that sonic was going to deal with regaining his memories or smthn like that

It's not something weird seeing Eggman abusing stuff that isn't his (Time Eater is still unknown for what it was after a decade, the Phantom Ruby's tech is also unknown, same goes for the Chaos Emeralds that are alien)

I triggered a line on Chaos Island where Sonic mentions how he knows that it's hot but feels cold, showing a little bit how the corruption is effecting him.

sonic just experienced the same thing shadow has experienced, except sonic experienced it a bit worse, sonic got tricked by the end like how shadow got tricked by black doom and at last they both lost memories, but the difference is that shadow has only forgot his past which is not that bad while sonic was not only losing the memories of his past, he was losing all of his memories, what actaully happened is the end was taking over sonic's mind, sonic was losing everything he remembered, he forgot why he is doing what he needs to do, he forgot what his name, he is saying robotic and spooky lines like objective complete, he was taken over, what tails meant about sonic stuck between realites he meant he is stuck between the reality and cyberspace, he still physically in his world but his memories, his powers and almost everything was in cyberspace, the same thing happening to the end but in an opposite which makes the end different, the end is still in cyberspace but his memories, his mind and half of his powers are inside sonic's body, that's what actaully happened.

I think it'd make sense to have these happen in Rhea Island, emphasizing the Cyber Corruption. Amy was trapped in a fever dream, Knuckles was haunted by generational trauma, Tails was taunted by his faults, and Sonic would have everything he is taken from him.
I mean, yes he's still fast, but the sensation of it is gone. There's no point to the speed without the feeling or freedom.
They do happen there actually, and I think chaos island as well. People think they got cut, but they didn't. They just play when you leave sonic idle for a while
It WOULD have made sense for Sonic to lose all his memories in exchange for being able to leave cyberspace. A price he'd be willing to pay for any chance at saving his friends, even if it meant rediscovering his goal. That would have been cool.

Though, maybe that idea was scrapped because then he wouldn't be able to reference the past without his memories, nor be the supportive friend he is in the final product.
It does you have to idle for awhile. Every 10 minutes of being idle Sonic says something
These lines actually kind of scares me to be honest, especially that last one where he seems to be forgetting his own name. Man, that's dark.
Hopefully the new DLC can bring some of those voicelines back with the new story
These lines already exist in-game. You just have to have Sonic stand idle.

This is why I have a deep respect for Sonic. Over the years he's been in so much pain. Mentally and physically! Yet, he still keeps going.
Not really, he still is just a video games character. nobody close to him has ever died and he's never lost a battle he's been through tough fights but mentally this is the toughest thing he's ever been through

@@RiceCooker-sanI dunno. Technically he was killed in Sonic 06- then resurrected so that was a definite loss- albeit temporary. But I’m not sure it counts in the games as the events technically never happened. In terms of his friends the only ones apart from sally I can think of was Cosmo from Sonic X- and Johnny Lightfoot from the comics.

There's a line similar to one of these here that I encountered, I forgot if it was at the desert or volcano island, but Sonic says "It's so hot here, but why do I feel so cold?"
On rhea I ended up getting one of the lines in this video, "I'm so cold now... numb..."
The "my name is...?" gave me actual _goosebumps._
I really would've liked it if these were kept in; just as a way to really sell how the cyber energy corruption is affecting Sonic.
Edit: So, apparently, I never thought to just stand still in order for him to actually say some of these lines.
Ive heard some of them while playing, the thing is they appesr randomly, that is why he says he doesnt know if they are used or not.

But they did keep it. Cyberspace has been shown to revolve around memory. And if you sit still for too long, sonic will say these lines.
A nice detail they should of added was during gameplay, Sonic had the corruption effects. He did in the cutscenes, but not during the player segments. Also it would be cool if the screen had a corruption effect.

I think his Idle animation changes depending on how far into the game you are
@Sunset's Channel his idle changes to the head holding on Chaos, and then changes yet again on Rhea to be him hunched completely over, hands on his knees, breathing heavily enough to visibly see it

As you progress, Sonic's idle poses will change depending on how many of Sonic's friends have been freed from their red orb prisons. He will have some random poses at the beginning of the game. After freeing Tails, he looks tired in cutscenes and in-game, while idle, he will have this slightly pained look with his left hand pressed against his forehead. I wish there is a more visual effect though. Currently, you have to deliberately notice it.
That objective complete makes me sad for some reason. It's not something Sonic would normally say
Isn't it the kind off thing the voice in Sonic's head (a.k.a The End) would say? Creepy.
It's like he can't form complete sentences anymore, or even complete thoughts
“Endure it, push through” already sounds like something he’d normally say to himself silently. Now that he’s saying it out loud, it’s like he’s that desperate to keep going. Saying “objective complete” is like saying the bare minimum. He probably struggles to speak at that point.
@@emilykapallen4979 but think about. He could have said, “Finished” or “That did it.” But he said something a robot would say. Like his thoughts wasn’t his own.
@@Braveheartbronie I know right? He's using vocabulary similarly to The End which has been in his head for the whole game! Maybe by that point he can only remember the objective The End is telling him to complete.
So one person confirmed on Twitter that they heard the "My name is..." line while standing idly on this island. It just seems like these lines are EXTREMELY unlikely to trigger.
I stood still for like 10 minutes and he said “You’re almost free, guys,” so it seems these lines were indeed used, just unlikely to trigger, which is a shame because they add so much

Honestly, while Island 4 is pretty much just exposition island with nothing to do, it did such a good job with setting up just how dire Sonic's situation is.
Seriously, I've never felt this tension before in any other Sonic game.
I like that you can see that he's in pain and losing energy all throughout the island, but what would've made this even better is if they did some "Storytelling through Gameplay" - something like the buffed boost not working even if you had Max rings, or you can't do tricks at all, or your acceleration gets reduced - just to hammer in the point that Sonic is growing weaker with every step he's taking.
Man that would have sold how serious Sonic's corruption was getting. Him make one of those quotes before a tower, heck even HALF of them, would show just how bad he was getting. I'm glad that they are least got the idle animations showing how he's strugglin.
Actually these lines are used but it's when you leave sonic idle for a few minutes
@@forestreflection2066 huh, here I thought it was going to be a unskippable tutorial. At the end I idled too long and I was lectured what to do by the guilding voice. The one that tells Sonic about the Titians? That one, plus I couldn't move.

These dialogues, man. Sonic bumping himself up while struggling against the pain reminds me a lot of Spider-Man.

When he pushes tails into the elevator home in colors to fight the nega wisp armor, when he was angry at eggman for brainwashing tails, when he played him being locked up on the death egg like it was no biggie, him being in the rookies mind when they face infinite, etc.

These lines are seriously disturbing... Don't get me wrong, I love this new level of depth these lines create as it just makes what's happening to Sonic all the more heartbreaking and tragic and really adds on to just how dire the situation is. Still, when you really think about what's happening to Sonic as he says those things, it's really quite terrifying...

I can say for a fact these weren't cut. They're indeed idle dialogue on Rhea Island. You just have to wait long enough, as they seem to occur randomly while not doing anything.
One other that I got that wasn't included here:

Are you sure? I stood idle on that island for hours, and nothing was said. Or are they cut from the Nintendo switch version?
“I’m still here… aren’t I?” makes a FANTASTIC contrast to the song “I’m here”

I'm not sure exactly what triggers them. You can wait a long time and not have one pop up at all. Other times, it can happen as quickly as 10 minutes.
Sometimes, it's Sonic saying something. Other times it's just the 'voice' telling you tips on how to progress.
There is idle dialogue for the Cyberspace stages, too, which may or may not occur when standing still for a while.
@@mitchelljohnson1198 maybe some of them only appear in the middle of a play through. Every other island’s uncut dialogue, not including the stage levels, has been heard by me. I’ll test this out one time, but I still have my beliefs that they simply don’t happen on my console, the Switch. What console or device are you playing on?
I think as he was getting corrupted, he was being split between realities. Like Amy said, it feels detached. His mind and body were struggling to stay together while he was inflicted with the cyber energy.

Poor Sonic.........He's literally fighting for his life and the lives of his friends here. 😢 It's even more profound, tragic and quite frankly terrifying because by this point, he's almost fully corrupted, rapidly beginning to lose his memory and is literally running to his death. 😢😭 And he's NOT in denial either(I know that he had to reassure Amy and especially Tails when he saved them and even sent Tails off on a mission, but I'm pretty sure he wanted to spare his dear friends the mental agony of watching him weaken). In fact, I'm pretty sure that by the time he saves Tails, he's at the very least starting to realize what's happening to him. He KNOWS he's going to die. And yet, he soldiers on, refusing to give up and determined to save everyone, regardless of the consequences. This is exactly why I love Sonic! 💖 He's such a brave, sweet and heroic soul. 💖
Those lines aren't unused, they come if you stay enough time in Rhea Island. I did enough time to hear the line "Push! Through it! Endure!".
Poor Sonic... His suffering is so sad to see... We can see him be in a lot of pain, weakened, and even losing his memories... My god it's so cruel! And Roger Craig Smith's performance really rocked here, I felt Sonic's pain very well! Poor sweet guy...
Ian did say they had to change the story a lot as the game's structure took shape.
The “Objective… complete.” line seems a bit out of place to me. Seems more along the lines of something Sage or Omega would say. Makes me think that instead of just memory loss the cyber energy rewrote his brain like a robot. Or maybe it was originally supposed to be Sage taking over his mind much like the she did with the ancient robots and Titans.
Would’ve been interesting story wise because while Sage would’ve been trying to take over Sonic’s mind he would’ve been trying to convince her to be good and ultimately winning her over
To me its sounds like the kind of language The End uses while in Sonic's head.
I guess it would make sense that Sonic would say that since... pretty much everything else in his mind like memories and stuff is gone except for the voice in his head?
That's my interpretation of it anyways.

Hearing sonic and eggman's voice being different again just keeps hitting me.
Sonic really felt like he matured, as well as eggman not sounding too much like an insane person.

Daaaang some of these are dark. Rogers voice acting was so on point. Even when Sonic looses to the corruption and cries out in pain- THAT was when Roger making me tear up without saying a word. Talented guy.
Roger is one hell of a voice actor, it's a shame that most fans find him a poor fit for the character.
I agree and tbh hearing him in this game shows the range he has. ESPECIALLY that full corruption scene and the scream he let out. I felt really sad for what was happening to sonic.
The fans complaining about Roger is a thing I will never get when he clearly shows his chops are good here. Can you really imagine Jason cartoonish voice trying to sell those lines, I can't.

It really baffles me how much hate Roger gets when hes a really good VA and forgets a lot of times its sega's direction and not him. They finally given him an opportunity to do what he does best. Honestly a perfect fit for serious tones with Sonic
I figured out how to trigger them! You have to be idle in the 4th island for 10 minutes. Every 10 minutes being idle is a voice line.
To get these voice clips. You have to be idle in the 4th island after beating the 3rd island

It seems like they were going to have it so that accumulating so much ‘corrupted data’ was starting to ‘overwrite’ Sonic’s memories. Possibly with that of the Ancients.
Kinda like what happened in Stargate SG1 with O’Neill after he got that Ancient archive downloaded into his head.
Seeing an SG-1 reference in a Sonic comment section just completely floored me, didn't realize there was a bigger overlap than just me
From what I heard, the "my name is" line and most of these are in game, just you have to be idle for a long period of time and there's no moment in the game where you'll be standing still for that long.
I do think if they went a bit farther with him losing his memories and being more corrupted would've been nice to see. It'd be a bit sad/dark but I think a darker sonic plot isnt a bad thing

I know "Push through it. Endure." is used in the game. I heard the line in Ouranos Island in between activating the towers.
this would have made sense along with the way he didn't answer sage in the cutscenes near the end, and he was going forward through pure willpower.
The amount of potential this game had was crazy, even though it delivered.
Hopefully a dlc Or a frontiers 2 will happen

This is silly but I genuinely found these lines heartbreaking. It's extraordinary isn't it how fond of a character you can be. I've been playing Sonic since day one and I own every single Sonic game in existence too so I guess that's why.
This shows how much he really cares for his friends.. that he would put his life on the line for them.
It really would have been interesting to see how the Cyber corruption would have impacted Super Sonic. Would the Emeralds neutralise the corruption, or would Sonic still be fighting it even in his strongest form?

They have been show to have restorative and healing powers.
In 06 sonic is ressurected via their power, in generations he and classic sonic are beaten senseless by the time eater but the chaos emeralds heal them, in sonic X he got dragged by an eggman mech but the emeralds healed him when he went super, in the comics he burns a certain sickness away when he goes super.

Super Sonic does look winded when he gets bit by the Knight Titan before pushing through and continuing to fight. You can argue thats because of the corruption, since when against Final Titan (which should be stronger), Super Sonic just has the same animation from when he gets hit by Giganto and Wyvern.
I don't think super sonic can neutralize cyber energy, but I do think that it might give him a boost instead of corrupting him due to the cyber energy actaully being created from the chaos emeralds, if they do not give him a boost then maybe it just changes his look but not getting effected.

Man every time I see clips of this game the more I like the story it's great to finally see that side of sonic that we haven't seen in a while

Anyways, Roger’s delivery is intense at times from what I can hear in clips.
I feel like these lines are supposed to trigger differently during your normal playthrough after each corruption
but looks like the writing team scrapped it, a bit disappointing since we could've seen sonic actually struggling a lot more making the game feels much better if these lines are actually used.
Too bad they ended up with Sonic being AFK for a short time and then awakened using the Power of Friendship...
So much potential scrapped.
Well to be fair, his awakening makes sense since Tails, Knuckles and Amy just re-uploaded themselves to Cyber Space so Sonic wouldn't have to endure their collective burden. Logically, it would work both ways with Sonic becoming corrupted or the others being digitised. From a game standpoint, that also adds a story explanation as to why they're still digitised if you were to go back to past islands for conversations as opposed to just game logic.
i think the different idle poses and the cutscenes show pretty well how sonic is struggling against the corruption and i think that the friends going back into cyberspace to help him finish the fight was cool

These totally were meant for when he's being corrupted and in the final stages of it during the tower level. It is hard to say if these are truly unused though as i discovered Sonic will say stuff when idled or playing for an extended period(found out while trying to set up my capture card)he randomly said a line about missing Tails running behind him and it actually startled me. But they do kinda explain how it feels as that is left a little vague. But the way sonic describes is was kinda what i assumed it felt like anyway, glad to know i was right lol.
Thanks for all the dialogue videos so far. It’s too difficult for me to hunt them down in game, so I hope you’ll keep doing this. I’m counting on you. 🙂

Sonic is no longer the same happy hedgehog from years ago, he is older, his voice is deeper(of course its because of the voice actor changing but yeah) he is losing speed, he is just hitting the old age like anyone else in the world, and he still keeps fighting...he is the best hero anyone could ask for.

If I had to guess these might’ve been for when sonic climbs those towers before getting fully corrupted and getting paralyzed (?). Probably before or during hitting the buttons or climbing the towers.

I could be wrong, but I believe these lines might play if Sonic is idle long enough after he gets corrupted, since my brother got him to say something about Sage when he stayed still long enough (this was pre-corruption)
Showing this struggle of not feeling your own body and losing memory sure is quite frightening.

I just got to Rhea island on my third play through and I decided to stand still for a bit to see if the lines would play. Got “You’re almost free, guys” after like 10 minutes of standing still

This is why I think Frontiers is massively important for the series. It very much could be a great change for the series, where it becomes a bit more mature, and making Sonic not this all powerful god, is a great change. I even love the fact that he needed his friend's help. I just hope they keep going with this level of story telling.

but i think it was scrapped by sonic team in japan, they want some things consistent with his character, like he has to smile almost everytime and stay optimistic. a sonic suffering a lot would be stranqe to their lore.

it seems more like Time Constraints to be honest considering Chaos Island 2D galore and Koco cutscene being an image compared to the first two islands

Not all of them were cut. You just have to have Sonic idle for a bit in order to hear them.

of course that didn’t last long before Tails, Knuckles and Amy saved him, but that’s just my guess

But in all seriousness, this would've helped the corruption of Sonic have more impact, because the true tragedy of it was only brief in the final product
Its the fact when his friends had to handle to corruption in the DLC, they were shocked at how painful it was, Tails even saying that he never thought it was as bad as it was
Sonic re-enacting the dark years of his career.
Sad it got scapped I hope this plot is use for a future game it has so much potential.

good lines but i think the cutscenes in between each tower convey what sonic's going through really well already, and entirely through his movements as well, so i'm honestly glad they're rare and easy to miss. if anything i think sonic's silence speaks more. like sonic the hedgehog, sonic "funny quip machine" the hedgehog, is so dead-set on fighting through hell, saving his friends, and ignoring anyone that tells him he should stop that for once he doesn't want to say a damn thing til he's done

I don't usually like Roger's iteration of Sonic in (and I don't necessarily like it in this name either), but this voice here literally made me forget I was listening to Sonic. Like we're so far from the goofy Sonic of the Colors-Forces era.
