i think an american wedding is beautiful but hmong brides who do do the american wedding (for whatever reason it may be) wont get to experience this beautiful moment. Something about starting at the husbands house then going to the wife's house and back to the husbands house is something not describable by words. yes its sad to leave but getting dressed by your mom and or aunts is such a beautiful moment that i wish all hmong girls will get to go through. theres nothing more precious than that very moment.
Kandi Song I wish I did get to experiment this. Apparently my mom never did my wedding...I was with my ex husband for 4 years without a wedding. My mom used the money they paid for me, after that she never wanted to do my wedding.
Only the tears cried in this occasion can bring out all my hmong sisters excitement of a new life but the fear, discomfort, and insecurities of leaving her family. Thank you to my wife and all my hmong sisters for your courage. It is a fact that in the beginning of every hmong wedding it is our sisters that sacrifice their comfort to live with a whole new family for the sake of love. May the universe continue to bless our hmong sisters with strong will, love, and determination so that y’all will bear us strong will, love, and determine children
My mother told once that a daughter will not stay with you forever, she'll will be married and off and her wings will spread and she will soar high. Your nyab is the one who will be your forever daughter. Love ur nyab, is what my mother taught me.

Live life to your fullest in every now moments, because now (the internal present) is the only real time that you can live. That's why they call it the present because it's a gift, so unwrap your present. There is no understanding and wisdom without love(unconditional Love to be precise).

Watching and listening to this, I got teary eyed... And I'm single. I can't imagine when its really my turn.
I swear... this song made me so sad that I wanted to cry so badly. But I just have to endure everything & hold my tears :( I miss my mom & dad so much! I hate it how they are so far away from me now. About 5 hours away! And when I needed them the most I can't see them near me. This song brought back the days where I was at my wedding day while my mom fix my outfit for me. I couldn't even say bye to my mom and before I know it, people rushed me to the car and I couldn't say bye to my family. I couldn't look back my shoulders too. Too devastated!
This song is very sad, my tears started to come. I lived in MN but now i recently got married may 31th 2014, on my way heading to CA with my love. Been here in CA for 3 Months! good thing that there's face-time to chat with my family. My husband and i fly back to MN to do our wedding on September, 4th 2014. I cry so much that my stomach hurts when i get to see them. All those advice my parents told me to become a good nyab, she told me that one day they will come visit me.
Been in MN for only 5 days. i didn't get more chance to spend time with my family. i cry so much that makes me feel like i don't want to leave, don't want to go when they all cry. but since now it's time for me to go further and start my life.
Heading home Sept.8th.2014 (sniff) i will miss all those old and fun memories.

i just couldn't believed that all my siblings lived so close to my parents. but why i gotta be this far.

Every time I watch this video it literally brings me to tears. It also makes me think of my future if ever I get married. I don't think I can ever part from my family, my home.

watching this and looking back to the day i got married is so sad. still makes me cry every time I think about it. it's cause we were born as daughters and we eventually one day will have to leave our family behind. I remember my mom did not have the face to face me while I was walking out the door. she was devastated because i was the oldest and had to leaver her.
oh my god. this is beautiful. I thought that I really wanted a American wedding but after watching this, it made me emotional and changed my Mind. I want a Hmong wedding. I need to keep my culture alive.

Thanks for uploading. This is a beautiful video and the song is great. I remembered my mom telling me how to be patient with my new family while she's dressing me up. I cried because I knew things will never be the same again. Hubby side of the family said it's time to go. My sisters and brothers were still cleaning up at the reception hall, so I cried frantically and told them to wait. I wasn't allowed to stay a little while, so I looked back while we drove away. Living 2 states away, I miss them all so much. Thank goodness for Skype and Facebook.
It's a very sad thing for a hmong girl to go off and get married and nobody will ever understand. Missing your siblings is also another thing, but no matter how much you love your family and will miss them you should never look back. Don't misunderstand me and I'm sure you know, but old people always have a saying that to not look back because the past is the dark while the future is the bright. They only want the bright for even though your past was also bright regardless. :)

As the guy cousin for many of my girl cousins getting married, I’ve sat at the table multiple times. And to make the speech for my sisters to go off is one of the most difficult things to do each time. It breaks my heart to not know how they will be treated once they leave and never turning back.

It is sad especially letting your little sister go before the older ones. As long as she is happy and she is all grown up she will be able to handle life. Can't believe is she all grown up and has move on with life to phase two.

Hmong wedding will always be the best. It were Your parents wish u a 😊 marriage. And tell you don't Mistreat each other. So your marriage will last long. Also were the guy have to show respect to your parents for raising you from a baby to adult or marriage age.

The future looks promising. The tide is turning as we live in this mixed culture. The younger generations are changing so that after marriage daughters dont have to leave their birth parents and siblings. Its happening. Religious beliefs and traditional culture are shifting. Thus, daughters one day will be able to carry on the family name too. Our traditional wedding and funeral divided families so much. now, its time to modify so we are united.
I got marry last year in March 16, 2013. Sadly that my parents past away.. wish they were here with me..
