- Here are some early computer graphics from the 1970s (many of which you'll recognize) from the now-defunct Dolphin Productions Company of New York. These were transferred from 3/4" U-Matic to Beta. This is part 1 of 2.

That MacNeil/Lehrer overlay got changed after the first week it was used -- the red slant didn't match the PBS logo, so they changed the slant to blue.
This demo reel probably dates to late 1976 or 1977.

Are these graphics from an analogue computer or were they all digital??? Reminds me of the scanimate system wich was pure analogue.

You talk about PGI (Pacific Grafics Images)? It was also a Co-operating company. Today, it was an animation and graphic company, owned by Dreamworks.

Did my homework and yes judging from the channel 2 logo, the skyline appearing to be Dayton, Ohio and the catcher's view of a Cincinnati Reds player batting, it most likely is WDTN. Wouldn't surprise me if Phil Donahue paid for it. To quote the possible Reds batter, I'm sorry I bet on obscure 1970s scanimate graphics.

I don't think Australia's 7 used that octagonal logo back in the '70s. What I am guessing, though, is that it might have been for a TV station somewhere in the US...maybe Boston.

Maybe it was a show discussing obscure/“other” religions/traditions? I know that had I been alive in the mid-late 1970s and owned a Betamax or early model VHS recorder, I would have taped shows similar to "The Search for Something Else."
From the New York Times archives, dated June 22, 1976:
"(4) ● NEWS SPECIAL: Jack Perkins, reporter. “The Search for Something Else.” An examination of Yoga, TM, EST and Zen"
(4 is WNBC and Jack Perkins was with NBC News, of course!)
Yes little darlings, yoga was quite the rage in the 70s. Except there was no Lululemon to tide yoginis over.
