My heart sank soon as I heard there was a show coming. I'm surprised more RGG fans aren't upset or worried about this. My first thoughts were it must a cash grab and without the substorys, heat moves, kareoke and other mini games so much is lost as all the filler does contribute to their characters and depth. Also they have so many cutscenes it's already a series in itself. It may be popular but it still has a specific niche and I fear those who come from the show will really be shocked by how the games actually are.
Not to mention how well-established the characters are. I understand them focusing on just the main plot of one of the games for the adaptation, but they'd be better off making an anime, honestly. That way, the characters could keep their likeness and voices, the action could be as over the top as it should be, and even the goofier parts could be added, through the opening and ending for example. I assume most fans are hopeful because it's Japanese-made, but given Amazon's track record, and the show-runners claiming already how they want to make "their own version"... I'd say to hope for the best, but expect nothing.
