  • Today I'm taking you on a walking tour of one of Mexico City's most popular areas: the Centro Historico. Starting in the Zocalo, or main square, this was also the main square of the ancient Aztec (Mexica) city of Tenochtitlan. You can do this tour by yourself or join a walking tour with a hostel or other group (like Estacion Mexico). I highly recommend a walking tour with a guide that can give you all the history and background! There is so much to learn. The stops I'll take in this video are:
    1. Zocalo / Constitution Plaza
    2. Catedral Metropolitana
    3. Templo Mayor
    4. Plaza de Santo Domingo
    5. Avenida Cinco de Mayo
    6. House of Tiles / Casa de los Azulejos
    7. Palacio de Correos de Mexico / Postal Palace
    8. Palacio de Bellas Artes / Fine Arts Palace
    9. Don Porofirio Cafe
    10. Alameda Central
    11. Barrio Chino / Chinatown
You can also check out this map where I've pinned all the best spots in the Centro Historico as well as a walking route: www.google.com...

I want to go to Mexico even more! Currently, overseas travel is restricted even if I have been vaccinated against COVID-19 in Korea! (Of course there are exceptions XD) So I can't wait to go to Mexico and travel to historic sites like you. I'm even more curious about Mexican history!

Thanks! I wanted to show how much sightseeing you can do without spending a ton of money. I didn't eat much out that day but I could have easily stopped for street tacos for only an extra $2!

Again great job with your video tour. Did you get a shot of the bottom corner of the Museo de la Ciudad? Across the street at the church the remains of Hernan Cortes are kept. They don't allow photos or video in there. Near by is hospital Jesus de Nazareno, the first hospital in America . Don't miss out on the free SEP museum to see the murals. Further down at the next corner the old palace of the inquisition is kind of cool to visit. Where you bought the esquites , but on the other side of the park was the burning stake for people found "guilty". Another Diego Rivera Mural was just behind the esquites I think is only like 10 pesos to go in. Really enjoying your videos. Not all at Roma and Condesa like everyone else. (like those places to but its nice to see people take interest in more than just those places)

Hi, Janette! Very nice video. I really enjoyed you little trip arround Centro Histórico, and I found your perspective is very interesting. I would like to make a little comment, just for fulfill some blanks. The little park you found just outside Bellas Artes is called Alameda Central, and it is the oldest urban park in the Americas, created in 1592. I has a lot of history, for example, very near the place where you bought the elotes (actually they were esquites) originally were placed the Inquisition Burning Place, the place were Spanish Inquisition performed its executions. And originally al the park was sorrounded by a water trench, with only two door for the carriages. Anyway, I hope you continue enjoying the city, and the rest of the sorrounding areas. Bienvenida!

Hola Roberto! Oh I think you must be watching with subtitles and they cover up what I've written in the video. I"ll have to consider that next time I'm editing! I didn't know there was so much history in that park! That is interesting to know. I also went to Chapultepec. I love the green spaces in Mexico City!
