In this video, Noelle Mering describes the concept of "woke" as being alert and attuned to the layers of oppression in society, particularly surrounding issues of race, sex, and gender. She describes the history of social justice movements, starting with the philosopher Hegel and his concept of the dialectic, which posits that history is a progression towards a utopian end through the engine of revolution. She also mentions Karl Marx, postmodernism, and intersectionality as important influences on the modern progressive movement. Mering argues that these movements are fundamentally concerned with achieving justice, but may actually weaken the people they aim to help. She also mentions the importance of faith and family as obstacles to revolution, and suggests that the progressive movement rejects everything that came before it.
Mering then discusses the the "woke movement" and its approach to social justice issues. It argues that this movement takes partial truths and totalizes them, creating an ideology that sees the world through the lens of power and domination. She suggests that the movement defines people based on their position in oppressive systems, rather than their inherent worth as human beings. She goes on to discusses the importance of language in the movement, and how words can be used to manipulate and control people's thoughts and actions. Mering argues that the movement's ultimate goal is not diversity, but rather uniformity of thought among different groups. She also asserts that the movement is not genuinely concerned with supporting and empowering oppressed individuals, but rather with advancing its own ideology.
She then discusses the concept of merit and its role in social justice issues arguing that the woke movement seeks to eliminate all standards and attribute all outcomes, whether positive or negative, to systemic forces rather than individual effort or ability. Mering suggests that this approach is incomplete, as it fails to recognize that people do have advantages and disadvantages in life, and that some form of hierarchy is inevitable in any society. She asserts that the most fair way to establish a hierarchy is through merit, and that taking responsibility for one's own actions and striving to improve oneself can lead to personal growth and success. She concludes by discussing the importance of personal responsibility and the importance of positive, proactive thinking in overcoming difficult circumstances.

11:56 because those oppressing forces are at work!!!!! Like people are supposed to accept the bad and the bad laws put in place by the "opressors" and say give God the glory? What???? Articulate or not she's saying let the oppressors just use you up and give all the glory to God for being led astray?
