God i love seeing a once populated area turned to ruins with debris everywhere the map tells a story without even saying anything
read it as ‘a once populated area turned into Serbia’ for a sec, truly terrifying

Thanks for making this video. I hope you're going fine. Can you maybe in the future make a review about a Half-Life 1 mod called The Gates. It's a very "interesting" mod. It's basically *Indiana Jones* + *Half-Life* experience also it is worth mentioning that the mod has a sequel released back in 2014 for Half-Life 2

One map I really miss (because it has been deleted for whatever reason :C) is gm_evac. It was a small and relatively simple EP1 themed map. Yet it was one of the back EP1 maps in my opinion. I wished someone would reupload it.
I like city_ruin's yellow sickly sky. It reminds me of Seattle during the summer of 2020 as a result of the Californian wildfires that year. Across the west coast, the sky turned a sickly yellow and orange. With the political tension that had built up that year in the United States (Especially in places like Seattle and Portland), it felt a little apocalyptic.
In the case of this map, it could be smoke from the region washing over the ruined city, implying a much greater scope of destruction than what we see in the map itself.

Always enjoyed these kinds of maps. One of my personal favourites is Gm_toxicair. It's set in a destroyed part of city 17 near the base of the citadel after the events of HL2 where it's really unstable. Has a couple of events that happen every so often but it's just such an eerie map that feels alive (and not in a good way) yet so empty. One of my favourites, but one of the very few that legitimately creep me out. Hope you get better soon!

they take alot of time to make, but the end result is usually satisfying
My favorite maps are flooded buildings or city's i wish there would be more of them.
I used to and maybe I will in the future play Half-Life 3 in Gmod. Basically I created my own HL3 story (which didn't make any sense, unsurprisingly. Also it was still the time when HLA wasn't released.), and choose the suitable maps for it. At the start, the Citadel is back again (for some reason?) so Gordon and Barney has to go and destroy it. The ruins of City 17 is actually the "city_ruins" map. I didn't even know it's supposed to be City 17, I just thought it was really suitable ruins map for the destroyed City 17 after EP1.

Sick gang here. Everyone in my family is sick(all 3 of us)and I’ve had burning throat at random times and stuffy nose. I haven’t even got my booster shot for school yet because the doctors aren’t letting me and I know that if they give me the booster shot while I’m sick then the whole shot will be useless.Anyways,I hope we both get better.

I remember playing cityruins, actually fun as hell map but pretty eerie, the map is basically what it looks like after the citadel explodes and demolishes 98% of city 17
Next GMod map video should be on the various Halo RP maps or maps that attempt to replicate a more colorful art style such as one found in Halo CE. Either way, loved it!

ya know for me it dosent even sound that u are sick. but yea, city ruins is cool concept for me. one of the reasons i liked halo 3 odst i guess. everything feels that i missed the big battle and only thing left is rubbish and ashes

I love games and maps set in abandoned and destroyed cities that's why I enjoyed games like metro and stalker.

These ruined abandoned maps are simply more interesting to me than regular maps. Don't get me wrong there are loads of better maps that are not ruins but as you said in the video, it feels like these have a story to it and i dig the aesthetic of it too.
Nothin' hits harder than Source aesthetics.

Looks like I missed this one. City ruins maps are my favorite, they're super nostalgic for me because my first Gmod maps were city ruins maps as I was a huge fallout fan at the time. Two maps I would love to recommend if you do a follow up are City Ruins 2 and RP_OldWorld. City Ruins 2 is like a remaster of city ruins with more locations and some expansions to existing locations. RP_Old World is not quite a city Ruins map but more of wasteland map in a similar aesthetic to city ruins, with inspiration from fallout 1 and 2s art style. I used to play Old world a lot with a mod that added the mad max vehicle customization system to Gmod.
you can tell RadHaz is pakistani because seeing war torn ruins makes him nostalgic

It would be interesting to see a few with current day Melitopol or another Ukrainian city near the sea be mapped out in this sort of way, with any profits made going towards the restoration of said cities.

City17 themed maps look like they came straight off Episode One because in that game is where you get to explore it further.
Overall, all those maps look really nice and they reminded me when I used to do world building back in 2013 with City 8 maps (the combine themed ones).

No it's RadHaz videos that are a vibe. The mysterious ambiences, slow pans across nostalgic maps and that classic grimey source engine atmosphere -- perfect
I remember a long time ago (like 8 years ago) me and a friend I had would load up this map with DoD playermodels and m9k rifles, and we'd both try to hunt each other whilst hiding within the map somewhere.
You should explore rp_singularity. It's a beta inspired city 17 map from what I've seen, and it's a pretty good take on c17 in general.

city_ruins also has a complex sewer and train tunnel system and some of the apartments have full interiors with proper rooms and architecture
Yes, making a clean and nicely put together map is stupidly easy but putting together something war torn or really any kind of random or chaotic map is extremely difficult.
I remember hanging a citizen ragdoll from a lamp post as a 14 year old in the first map because I was edgy and mad

I agree looking at map destroyed feel so odd I remember ages ago going arond in a map of half life 2 deatmatch that featured a house destroyed I was imaginating so much about it like "combine came, and then launched headcrab canister"
