    Super video. Know how those days feel. Really class production of the video and love how you posted an honest blank as well. Glad to have found an Irish man doing decent videos. Will be following along from now on and looking forward to the back catalogue.

      Thanks for commenting its much appreciated. I think even if you blank there is learning in it. Just as well because there are a few "learning" episodes on the channel. 😁

    Nice size fish in are beautiful lakes and rivers in this country and the scenery is amazing and I do a lot of fly fishing and walk miles up the river and sometimes I don’t even get a bite but some days I am amazed at the size of the fish I catch and even some baby trout the size of my finger and I can’t wait for the weather to get better and get back out and thanks for sharing a great video and hope you have a great new year Steve 🤝

      We are lucky to have some amazing scenery. I reeled in the rods just so i could get that sunrise drone shot. It was just to beautiful a backdrop to not capture it. for me there is no better feeling than being on the bank at first light.

    Steve i feel your pain with those missed runs. Last 3 trips over the last month i have either lost or missed 11 pike with none caught.
    I have caught hundreds of pike in the past. They just seem to be nipping at the bait and spitting it out.
    Better luck next time and tight lines

      Thanks john, I've no problem in catching Jacks over the last few sessions they seem to love being filmed. It's the big girls that are being shy. 😄

      nice one mate. Yeah its a lovely spot to give a go. I think if I'm going to fish it again I'll be hiring a boat to take the gear around to one of the far swims.

    Nice video steve, i usually find after bad sudden weather drops like ice and snow it takes around 5 days for them to settle back into their eaten habits personally, I fished that lough a few months ago had two fish nothing of great size a really nice guy fishing beside me had a 28 only fish of the day for him also its a nice spot, defo huge pike but paying in when there are hundreds of beautiful spots with the same fish in them goes against what I think, I like the peir at opposite end to where you wore, when I fished there it was hopping with bait fish and pike showing hard to get down there with gear but maybe rent the boat for the day and bring your gear down in it, again great videos pal all the best

    • @FishingwithSteveIreland
      @FishingwithSteveIreland  2 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Cheers Gareth. Yeah it's a nice spot and worth a go once or twice a year at most, but I do like fishing my public lakes for Pike. I only found out after a couple of hours into the session that you could hire the boats out. I'd definitely have done that for this session had I known. I know for next time. I probably would have used the carp barrow to get around to the far side but there was no way it was going over that narrow bridge. So the loading and unloading of gear multiple times didn't appeal too much. thanks again for watching. 👍

    Sometimes it is all about the experience. Fishing I believe, will give us something that we can't get in our everyday lives. Just try and explain fishing and what you get out of it to someone and I bet you will struggle to find the words. Just means you will have to go back and give it another go. Great video. Stay safe and tight lines in 2025. 🐟

      100% mate. It's very hard to explain to someone who doesn't have the fishing bug, why we do it. That's probably why I wanted to start this channel because its easier just to show them that amazing sunrise or the high and lows of lost fish or that new PB. I'm just grateful I'm able to get back out fishing and enjoy it.

    Remeber fishing that lake from beside the pump house two small jacks that day but I got a new Samsung and was able to zoom into that field over your shoulder when your telling us about the near fall into the water , two foxes dancing about like not a care in the world lovely lake to fish from the far bank

    • @FishingwithSteveIreland
      @FishingwithSteveIreland  วันที่ผ่านมา

      It's a beautiful spot alright. We walked the far bank but there was no way I was going to be able to get around with all the gear I carry. My carp barrow was also too wide to fit across the bridge. It was only after i setup that I was told you could rent the lake boats. If i do fish it again I'll definitely be renting a boat to drop the gear over to the far bank.

    Nice footage and I can see from the videos you are a good angler, not sure about 120+ yards tbh, wouldn't like to see a big fish being dragged from that distance and some of them fight like hell there

    • @FishingwithSteveIreland
      @FishingwithSteveIreland  2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@peterk9797 I can see your point but I’ve had 30+lb carp from longer distances than that from lakes in France. Once you’re geared up for it and it’s line of sight without going past islands etc. My leads are also on a drop off running system (fox) similar to carp gear. So if the lead gets caught it gets dropped. So the pike tend to come to the surface when you’re fighting them. My priority is always fish safety so they are always well rested before being released. I’ve thankfully had every pike I’ve caught go back strong. But I do get the concern if there is someone fishing at that distance that doesn’t have experience at doing it or the right gear. I should probably make that clearer in the videos so that people watching will know how to do it safely.

    • @peterk9797
      @peterk9797 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I personally wouldn't go as far.We can't compare carp and pike being reeled in from a far distance, pike exhaust much more, loads of lakes in England banned bait boats because of that as well,anyway enjoy fishing @@FishingwithSteveIreland
