My problem is he prefers to chew on my hands vs ANY toy. I can literally have my hands behind my back and he will ignore everything to chase my hands

So happy to have found this video! Our 12 week old cairn terrier puppy bit my husband twice on his arms and drew blood. I can see how hubby made it worse by yelling and waving his arms at him - he became more aggressive. I showed him this video and we will start these training techniques immediately! Thank you!!!!

I'm so glad I found this video! My lab SDiT is 4 months old and I'm the only one he bites/ chews on. My mom has already suggested that I wash him out. I refuse to do so at such a young age and for something so trivial. I also have Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, so what would be a 3 to others is a 4 to me. My hands and arms looked like hamburger for the first couple months. It's getting better, but we still have our moments. He's very demanding of my attention though.

I just adopted a 1 year old full grown lab who was surrender as a puppy and lived in a kennel for 5 months. Although she’s good most of the time, my fiancé and I have been dealing with the mouthing and biting. The techniques you’re stating here make sense but obviously our issue is that we are dealing with a 70 pound dog vs a baby. We have a trainer coming to help us soon and we are hoping we can correct this with her. We love her so much, but clearly she wasn’t taught these things as a puppy

My 15 week old puppy bites almost constantly. It's so hard to walk away every time it means almost no play time for her if that's the case. If I try to substitute toys or even chews she's just determined to go for my hand/arm/leg/face instead. It's almost constant feeling like she's only interested in biting me.

I have an 8 week old yellow lab Julius. He is only giving us 4’s, and actually, when he bites, he grabs a hold and SHAKES whatever is in his mouth, hands, feet, arms and legs, it becomes a gruesome blood bath (I know it sounds bad). He is a service dog in training so he NEEDS to be on his best behaviour, I signed up for a puppy who chews, who needs a lot of direction, a lot of attention and patience. I didn’t sign up for a puppy who would go out of his way for blood. I’m not even kidding. We don’t rough house with him, we follow everything by the book. He’s a good dog and he’s smart when he isn’t attacking us. I don’t know what I could have done wrong.. we give him a toy but he ignores it and growls and then lunges at your face, hands or arms. Whatever is closer. he seems almost aggressive..he had a hold of my arm and he would t let go so I have to put both hands on his collard/neck and pull him back as nothing was working, and then all of a sudden, the noises coming out of him... he was snarling, growling, biting and showing his teeth...what do I do??

Hey Laurie, I have a nasty issue with a border collie puppy, I took him at only 30 days old (long story) so he didnt learn the whole dont-bite-so-you-dont-get-bitten idea from his litter and now all he wants to do is bite me all the time and its impossible to get his attention for more than a few seconds without treats (and even then I find it extremely hard to train him as he dives right for my hand when I use it to shape a movement for example). Any idea? Your videos are amazing, thank you for making them.

My boyfriend's 3-4 month pitbull keeps nipping at me & it's getting really frustrating. He has ripped a lot of my clothes because he just clings on & doesn't let go. He sometimes gets into, I guess, "play mode" where he just lunges at me and there is absolutely nothing I can do to get him off me. He's made me bleed many times, even making me cry tears once from the pain. I've tried redirecting him to chew toys but he just drops them and lunges at me. Please help, I love that puppy, but I just don't know what to do anymore...

My puppy is 11 weeks old and has a really strong bite. He breaks skin almost all the time. Whenever I walk anywhere he will bite my legs and wrap his front legs on my leg. I only got him a few days ago but I don't know how to stop this. I got him from a shelter so I assume he doesn't know he is hurting me. I have tried yelping when he bites hard but it makes it worse. His bites hurt so bad I am forced to nudge him away from me and pick him up to calm him down. he hasn't got his shots yet so he cant go outside and has a lot of energy. If you can give me some advice that would be awesome. thanks

Puppies don't have hands to play with you. Their mouths are their hands. You live with the biting and chewing. Both of my Labs got over it, and would play bite softly. They knew or know when they're hurting you. Our big Lab would close his mouth around our finger(s) but not close his mouth all the way. He liked to play tug-of-war that way, and he would not bite down all the way. Our female got used to our yelps and a loud no, and she quit biting altogether, even when playing. They're smart. Give them time to grow out of puppydom. They could both pick up the piece of paper that the nite clerks at the hotel would put under the door at nite as to the bill, and there would be very few indents in the paper from their teeth.
