- Video of the moments leading up to Texas mother Taylor Rogers being held face-down in the grass by police as she was attacked in the face by fire ants has been released. After Santa Fe Police Chief Ruben Espinoza told Rogers she couldn't make a left turn onto her son's school grounds, Espinoza said he learned she had gone on to drive in reverse at the drop-off area. That's when he stopped her and handcuffed her hands behind her back while she was face-down in what turned out to be fire ants.
He said it took longer cause she resisted. I don’t think she resisted. I think she was being attacked by ants.

Cops will also deliberately hurt people, and then scream "stop resisting!" when they flinch or pull away.
Like, okay -- just ignore millions of years of vertebrate evolution to try to get away when you're being hurt because Officer Bubbles says so.

In the decades since Rodney King was beaten, cops have not learned to distinguish between humans' instinctive reaction to pain vs. deliberately resisting cops to be uncooperative. Or, they know the difference and just dgaf.

How could the police know that they were laying here into a nest of Fire Ants? After the women said there were fire ants on here face police picked here up off of the ground and put here in a patrol car, they then requested an ambulance as suggested in the report. Do your research.

I thought the same thing too, the cop car should have been at the back of her car. Not only that but they immediately dragged her out of her car and gave her no chance to cooperate with them. They should have asked her to step out of the vehicle first 😡 they used way too much force and she must have had over a hundred bites in those pictures. The poor woman, it was all completely unnecessary. I hope she gets some compensation after this.

If 99% of people being arrested didn’t lie about their discomfort (have you seen how many people scream, yell & rant that they can’t breathe or have pre-existing injuries as soon as cuffs go on?) & she’d mentioned that the ants were biting her, not just that there were ants on her face (big difference between those), then they might have realised she had a genuine issue & wasn’t resisting once on the ground, but was actually being bitten by ants.
I've been in a similar situation (attacked by fire ants, not arrested by the police), and I was running around screaming, trying to get them off of me. No way would I have been able to follow instructions under those circumstances.

As somebody who lives in florida and has first-hand experience about what it is like to be bitten by fire ants, the sting is so painful, it's hard to be still. That police chief obviously has never been stung by fireants if he would make such a stupid pathetic excuse of a statement.

I know of a 6 year old kid who was playing tag in the streets on the way home from school. A semi truck made a wrong turn into the neighborhood. He had to backup to get out. He was backing up and the child so busy playing tag ran right into the back end of the truck. Knocked him down and the semi ran over him. The driver got out, saw he ran the child over….panicked….and then got back into the cab and went forward as if he thought he would reverse running the child over. He literally ran over that child twice. No need to say the child died the first time he was run over. This is a real story and that’s why around school age children the cops reaction was spot on.

I got bit by some ants in Costa Rica once. Unknowingly they formed a single line up my leg about 20 or so and all bit at once. I moved very quickly as it was intense burning.
Sounds like cops need to learn how to train peoples behaviors rather than use brute force all the time.
