“Missing the fluffy snow and wet snow…” I understand her perfectly, there is a difference 🤣
Isn't it all wet?
@@holdernessfamilylaughs no, fluffy snow is the light airy snow, wet snow is the snowman snow
And powdery snow! Mega difference.
Big difference, especially when you're shoveling it!
@@marabookstagram ABSOULUTELY!
I live in the South now. Our last cold precip was snow and sleet mix. Hubby had to use a pitchfork (to break the ice pack) and a shovel.
As a Michigander - there is so much accuracy in this skit. My 5 year old loves playing on the top of snowplow mountains. I have received an automatic car starter as a present from a boyfriend before. There are sooo many different types of snow.
And as much as I complain about the snow and winter and the cold... I'm pretty sure I would have some SNAD if I ever move somewhere warmer.
Ditto here in PA❄️
Fellow Michigander here! 😁
I miss the snow too! It’s barely winter in the Mitten this year
@@anninwhack1998 i am in my 50’s originally from Wisconsin nod to the frozen tundra…. Today 60 and raining here, in Milwaukee snow day due to lake effect snow expecting 7.5 inches of snow. ……. Happy to be here but seriously having SNAD.
@@suebob456 What part of Michigan? I'm asking because we got a lot of snow in late Nov. & late Dec. around the Grand Rapids area.
The joke about the automatic car starter is so similar to how I knew things were getting serious between my husband and I when we were dating! It wasn't the fact that he asked me on a 2nd and 3rd date. No, it was that he came over to my college campus to swap out my windshield wipers for a new and better pair. Thats when I knewthat he must really like me. So yes, thats love in the Midwest!
True love.
My husband and I ate from Ohio. I knew he was serious about me when he showed up with a sharpening stone and sharpened all my knives. I knew he wanted to live with me when he bought me a Costco membership 😂
My then boyfriend, now hubby put a new plug on the end of my block heater cord that had caught fire. It was true love😍
It took me a solid 5 seconds to realize the "no yeah no for sure definitely for sure" was part of the Midwestern joke 😂 it sounds so normal to my Michigan made ears
You'd be suprized, but it sounds absolutely normal even for a russian))) We say "yeah no maybe", which means "no"))
See, I'm conflicted. I'm from Chicago and also "Midwestern." Yet, this woman sounds like a Canadian to me.....
IKR?
As a Western New Yorker, and often "blessed" by the Lake Effect from Lake Erie, I am well aware of the many subtle sub-species of "snow". I also understand the "I LOVE SNOW!" to the "I HATE WHEN 7 FEET OF SNOW FALLS ALL AT ONCE!!" dynamic! Mid-West neighbor is my spirit animal.....and my low key celebrity crush
And I want her T-shirt!
After living in Buffalo, then Canandaigua, I don't miss snow. I lived in Canandaigua when Buffalo got the 7 feet over Christmas. I lived in Buffalo for the 6 feet in 24 hours that did NOT include the accumulation from before or after that 24 hour period.
I don't regret moving South
"It's called pop not soda." LOLOL And for the record, I LOVE the snow! Northern Indiana here.
And...
It's duck, duck gray duck.
Jello salad is a salad
I notice she didn’t say she missed the SQUEAKY snow 😆😆😆
As a former Michigander (troll - from under the bridge) who moved to NC, I will say I heartily agree - I MISS THE SNOW ❄️ … but I could gladly go my whole life without ever hearing squeaky snow again! It makes my teeth hurt to even think about it.
LOL I AM a MI "troll" now. Late 60's and my sled of choice ( have 2) are the metal vintage 2 rail ones. I wear a nice bike helmet now. Older wiser.
The black piles of snow that refuse to melt until June because they are so full of road dirt are disgusting. I find it hard to imagine I’d miss those!
What the heck is squeaky snow?🧐
@@benitaverynice7583 Snow can be squeaky when it's very cold (like in the single digits). Usually it's freshly-fallen, dry snow, and when you walk on it you hear a squeaking sound under your boots.
Squeaky snow is the best kind!
I have so much Midwest love for Ann Marie I can't even tell ya!!
She's the best
Uff Da!
Yeah, no yeah, definitely. ❤
In college, it was cafeteria trays down the unplowed road from the top of campus. Had to be careful not to hurtle into traffic at the bottom.
@@2katkitty We glued leftover pizza boxes together; also used them as skis too!
As an Ohioan this is totally accurate. Fluffy snow and wet snow are very different, especially when you have to shovel it off your driveway.
I love that Kim has a blanket over her legs in the 75° weather. Lol.
Pretty sure she's actually wearing a long dress and is not using a blanket........
lol I’m in Florida and needs a jacket at 78
71 here in Richmond VA now. Half the people are in puffer jackets and the other half in shorts.
It's the skirt of her dress.
My wife used a blanket if it’s 200 degrees out😊
As someone who lived in Michigan for 10 years, I can relate. It’s a love-hate relationship with snow. It’s so quiet and pretty when it comes down, but old snow is ugly unless a new layer falls. And yes, it is POP and not soda or Coke!
for me, If I don't have to drive in it, its pretty and relaxing. But a storm in the middle of the week when you have to go to work? Yuck.
This is soooo true! In Chicago right now, we've gotten almost no snow all season and it IS depressing. We're supposed to get a few inches today and it feels like the best day ever! SNAD is REAL! Sending some snow and love to Wisco friend from the great Midwest (I dont even think your neighbor will mind that it's from Chicago! Lol). ❄️❄️❄️
I’m an ex-Michigander now living in South Carolina. I miss all kinds of snow as well! Just yesterday I was trying to explain to my grandchildren how you can work up a good sweat while sledding even while having nearly frost bitten fingers and toes. Ah, the nostalgia!
Still a Michigander, just a wannabee South Carolinian.
@@lapurta22 Can we trade? 😊
MidwestNeighbour is on point with how you don't need a sled to go sledding (in Australia we call it "tobogganing"). As a kid, I well remember my first ever trip to "The Snow" (in Australia the entire ski region is referred to as The Snow, as in: "are you off to The Snow next weekend?"). We had no snow gear whatsoever. We were wearing plastic raincoats outdoors to keep ourselves dry as the snow fell. We used those same raincoats as sleds. What you do is , you sit down on the snow clutching each side of your raincoat up close to the front of your body ; so that the raincoat is tightly plastered against your rear. Lift your feet off ground knees to chest, keep a tight hold of that raincoat in both hands, and off you go! there is a lot of spinning around involved, which makes it even more fun.
Your skits are always relatable, I'm already starting to miss the snow and cold myself, despite constantly complaining of the freezing temperatures!
Love this : )
As a former Wisconsinite there is sooo much truth in this skit…types of snow, how to make sleds, car starter and most of all, missing the snow! 😂😂
Love how she finally invites her neighbor into her home offering her an alcoholic beverage ❤
Should have been a fireball though 🤣
Or a "Snuggler" of hot chocolate and peppermint schnapps. And you can't beat cinnamon schnapps and warm cider, am I right?
I moved to Florida a little over a year ago after being born and raised in North Dakota. This hit all my feels 😂 also I LOVE the shirt! “It's called POP not Soda” 😊
I always love it when you have guest stars, you really play off of each other brilliantly! 🌨️❄️
Me and your neighbor would get along just great! 🤣❄🌨 i miss the snow too! ☃Great video!
It’s nice to have Kim be on the high ground of the conversation for a change. Lol
Brings back memories as a kid, me and Mom using a piece of cardboard for a sled and my stepdad would cut the back legs off of a dining chair and tie it to the rear bumper of a Volkswagon beetle then pull us around in circles on a frozen lake here in Minnesnowta, good times!
This one was hilarious! I love the midwest neighbor.
On Ann Marie, I get chya! Missing the snow and cold weather (then alternatively wishing for sunshine and warm temps in October), that's our Midwest Right! ❄❄❄
Source: Born and raised in Illinois by the Mississippi river now transplanted to Northern Iowa
SNAD explains it all!!! I miss the “sound of silence” after a freshly fallen snow. I don’t miss grey or black snow. Coal was used on the snow for traction in my college town. Now those were some serious stains!!!
People back home were complaining about getting more snow. I live in Tulsa now. We rarely get snow, but when we get even an inch the city shuts down. 😂
SNADness is real
In college we used cafeteria trays. 😂 Also I love her t-shirt-- it IS called pop! Not soda! 😜
I hear you Midwest Neighbor, I had SNAD when I lived in northern California 😂😂😂! I remember looking at pictures of snow online. It was dry and brown in the summer and then it got green in the winter, the Christmas tree just looked wrong with all that lush greenery behind it out the window!
I am one of those who loves the cold, I feel this in my soul
We are very different
@@holdernessfamilylaughs different is good, but I want snow and cold and winter :(
Yes, me too!❄️❄️
You know HANGRY...Well I am SNAGRY: Snow angry for lack of snow in NE PA. We have only had 5" on the ground and that was back in November.
@@qcroc7 wish I could give you our snow....I measured yesterday and it's gone down to 3 feet from five a week ago, but dang, I want to plant a garden sometime this year! 🤨
As a Michigander I will NEVER miss the snow! I actually have a friend who told me she misses the snow. Then we got hit with a snow storm. And yes... snow can be grey and yellow. 😂
Yes... you can get very creative with sledding.
Our weather has been nuts!!! One day it's 58 and the next day it's 40 and the day after that it's 25 and the day after that it goes up to 46.
And yes....a hot tottie is actually whiskey.
These videos of yours are the best!!! You two are like a modern Lucy and Ethel 😅 and yeah being from the NE I never thought I would miss frigid temps but I really do. The only good thing about winter was being able to wear the many handmade scarves my late Mother made me; now it’s so damn hot I’m unable to wear them 😞
Perfect! Yessss. It’s been an unusual winter here in SE Michigan. I do get SAD every year, but this year I’m SNAD too!
True Michigan Midwesterner here. Was a temporary Southern Californian. So hilariously on point!
Kim needs to take her to visit dude dad and Heidi!!
Lol, can you imagine those convos? 😂😂
TOTALLY
Yesyesyesyesyesyesyes!!!!
There’s a difference when you’re shoveling it! 🤣 Fluffy snow isn’t really wet til it melts.
Oh 💯!
I am with your neighbor. I am in southern NH, it is 45 degrees and the is just about no snow. We only had 1 "good" snowstorm. I know that we are going to get KILLED in March and April. I always say that I want more snow until I have to shovel it then I moan and complain and say "I've had enough". I love the description of the color and types of snow. Spot on.
I love this & I can so relate! Our snow blower has no purpose!! I have SNAD too & I live in Ohio!! Geez Louise!!!
You may need to start a support group
Where did she get the "its called pop not soda" shirt? I need that in my life. (I'm from Michigan so I understand this all perfectly). It was 60 degrees here yesterday and my son is complaining about the fact we haven't had a lot of snow. He misses the parking lot snow mountains. One year, my daughter and son built a whole house in one of them. They made a slide, seats, etc. It was awesome.
Having your husband install an automatic starter in your car, when living in Ohio, is a sign of true love! 😂
Yeah, but in Chicago and most od Illinois, automatic starters are illegal to use because allegedly, idling cars are killing the planet
I'm originally for northern Iowa. I now live in Maryland near B'more and DC. We get snow - sometimes. But this year?
We have season ski passes for an area about 90 minutes drive away. THIS year, unlike other years, they barely have enough FAKE snow to keep the resorts open. In fact, they are closed today because it's gotten too warm and the snow has all melted away. The season very likely could be OVER and it's mid-February. That is bonkers! And I miss REAL snow so much. I get giddy every time we have a snowfall.
I grew up in the snowbelt in the 80s, and now that I've grown up and moved away I'm occasionally struck with a childhood wintertime memory, followed immediately by the realization that "wow, somebody totally could have died. Huh." Now that I type this, that could totally be a future video idea to mirror your own "life now vs life in the 80s" videos - life in the midwest in the 80s, starring your "neighbour". I'm sure she has some stories.
The alternative sleds was a good precursor! 😂
@@Victoria-su2oy yup. What I said too.
I'm laughing from Minnesota about her missing the snow! 😂 we had rain this week that changed to snow and more snow next week.
Yep and it refroze to make black ice so now you have to drive like a Grandma if you want to stay alive out here on the road! I'm also in MN West metro of Minneapolis area.
Black ice. My daughter just slid into an ice pile turning a corner at 10 mph
In Carver MN myself.
Cattle farm on Minnesota Iowa border the only good thing about the snow is that the well house hasn't froze up.
I am from MN too!
Your friend Ann Marie- is the best part of this Chanel!! Love her! 😂
Growing up in Northern Michigan and living in Tennessee I don’t miss the snow but I also get as excited as a little kid waiting for Santa when the forecast calls for snow. I feel this so much 😂 ❤. As long as I have my Vernor’s (because everyone in MI knows Vernor’s fixes everything) I’ll be okay. Besides if it gets too bad I can always go visit my family, get my snow fix in and then escape.
I laughed so hard about the sleds. I think we have used every single one of those (including the couch pulled behind a truck senior year of high school) as sleds 😂
This is one of the MANY reasons I LOVE Colorado. All four seasons.... and we can get snow one day, and then walk around the next day in glorious sunshine in a tee-shirt because it's up to 60` and everything melts away! Oh.... well... except for the snow on my north facing driveway... but that's a conversation for my realtor who sold us this house.... lol.
Favorite video yet!!! Born and raised in rural northern Montana and living in Central California I too MISS THE SNOW!!! And seriously.... best shirt EVER!😍 I need that shirt! Moved to Cali 32 years ago and I STILL say POP!! soda is carbonated bkeah😝 Keep these videos coming!
Saw the short version in instagram, thought that was hilarious but the long version is sooo great. Love you guys can’t get enough.
In upstate New York, we use to take trays from the dining hall in college and use them as sleds. After losing so many trays, they finally just made a pile of old ones for us to use and bought a different color tray for the dining hall.
That's awesome they went along with it. 😊
Yep... I always miss the snow. I love having 4 seasons!
Love this! Michigander here. Skit was fantastic and I love the neighbor’s shirt!
I miss the snow too! Of course Oklahoma gets tons of it when I move back to Georgia... lol And Yes, I totally know the difference between wet snow and dry snow.
I get this from when we lived in the South. We've moved back West and have had so much snow this year. It makes my heart happy, even when I day dream about the going to the Carolina Beaches. It's hard to explain. Bless your heart!
Here in Southern Illinois we only had a good snow around Thanksgiving so we feel ya neighbor ❄️☃️
Haha someone should definitely send Kim and Penn a dry ice box with snow from their yard. Idk it's tempting... 😁 Would they get a shoutout in their next video?
That I'd like to see!
Love the shirt . Yes it’s pop . Lol
Where I grew up everything was "Coke"
LoL I'm with Kim. It's been 60° & 50° here & I'm lovin it.
She forgot about sledding down hills on the 😂college cafeteria trays.
My college gave up, and just asked us to sign them out.
This is one of my absolute favorites! And the most relatable one! My husband wants to move to North Carolina, but I would miss the Northeast especially for the snow!!!! (Even though we have barely had any this year). And I can remember sliding down a hill on a lunch tray when I was a young kid.
The garbage bag & cardboard sled really works! We just had a winter camp with our Scout group and used it. Gives the kids a craft to do and way easier to haul than enough sleds for 20 kids!
We've had way too much snow up here in Quebec. I think we've hit some records this year! At least the skiers are happy....
Yes but weirdly. It was almost nothing. Then a ton. Now it’s raining like wth? Yesterday all afternoon rain. Ugh.
BC and still skiing!
I hear you, I miss it too! You two ladies are hilarious! Greetings from Mexico!
It’s been a weird winter up in CT this year. It snowed only twice just about an inch each time and melted the next day. It’s been 40-50s degrees mostly. Insane to say that I miss the snow
Didn't you just get hit with a serious drop in temps?
I love her shirt.
We live in Ohio and we have barely had snow this year. I’m not usually a huge fan of snow, but I’m for real missing it right now. We barely have had winter this year.
I have a seven yr old who got new snow pants this year and all she has been waiting to do is build a snow man all winter, and nothing. She’s been making sure I keep carrots in the house for her snowman.
This is amazing!! I am so excited that it is getting warmer now!! There is, however, a part of me that still wants snow. I am so excited for spring though!!! Thanks, Holderness!!😄
I miss the snow too. ❄
Thank you for the fun video.
Greetings from Germany
I love snow so I can relate to missing snow when we don’t get any!!! Lol ❤❤❤❤
Here in central and east central Missouri, we're below normal on snow. There hasn't been any snow for kids to play in. Had a nice little layer Dec 26th but not enough to make a snow ball. Then some very wet sloshy snow last month. Nothing this month.
Our snowman kit, and sled just sit around collecting dust this winter.
And just 30min southeast of us they had inches of snow once, so just certain areas of Missouri barely got anything this winter.
We had an ice day tho, but still
Where's the good snow at?!☃️
Yes!!! "It called Pop, not Soda!"😂
Born and raised here in NC. We always have one half-week or weekend in February that reminds us how beautiful spring will be once it gets here. ❤
Oh my gosh, I can sooo relate! I am from NC, replanted in Tucson, AZ. I truly get depressed when it starts warming up in February. I'M NOT READY FOR THE HEAT YET!
(LOVE the mid-western neighbor. These are my favorite videos)
I know people that have used old car hoods to sled on.
I used to take the inner tube that we pulled behind the boat and hook it to the tractor. I would pull my kids around the field, whipping the inner tube around and trying to fling them off. 🤣
This was posted on the morning of the second day in two weeks that we are under winter weather advisory or warning or something. Last week it was brutal. Drifts were 2-3 feet deep and more on open country roads. Wind was 35-40mph at times. It was wet and heavy snow too. Supposed to happen again today but so far, not one snowflake has fallen. We shall see... Lol! 😂🤣 (I'm in southern Wisconsin)
Supposed to be in the afternoon/evening. You must be away from the lake though because it was a bit disappointing near the lake, since the rain caused it to disappear in a couple days. I suspect that'll happen again but we'll see.
@@hilary3219 Yeah, I'm away from the lake, about 15 miles south of Madison to be more precise. It was really fun to drive in though, at least for me. I'm kinda weird like that. Haha! 🙂🙂🙂
@@bubzilla6137 Nah not weird at all. I love driving and walking through the snow so it's a bummer we haven't had much.
I love the neighbor's shirt! It's pop, not soda!!!
I am from Maine and we had a sad winter too but ya we are now having a very pleasant day. It is so warm out!! It is 50 degrees!!! But I also love the snow we had
i'm missing snow too. i'm at the jersey shore. i think there were a few flakes. and i totally get the climbing on the mountains of snow plowed in school parking lots! i used to work the afterschool programs and i was the only crazy supervisor to take the kids out to play on those mountains and run around on the field. the mountains were as high as the basketball nets! so much fun. now i'm snowless this year. very sad.
I'm with you, east coast! Imagine our sorrow in Chicago area. Same thing - has been a total bust of a winter. Every big storm they predicted petered out before it got here. Even Tom Skilling from WGN - best weatherman anywhere - got thrown off his game this year. It's sad and SNAD! Lol
@@susie6279 I didn't know you guys haven't gotten any either! That really sucks.
@@yaowsers77 Nope. It's like it gets close to us but then heads up to Wisco! Today was supposed to be a few inches. What am I looking at? A layer of slushy snow that isn't even enough to cover all the grass. Pathetic!
I remember those "hills" with fondness. Then again, we actually used to get snow days to enjoy it. Not anymore. Has to be a literal blizzard for that to happen.
@@susie6279 this was going back about 10 years for the last really good snow storm for us. It was a few days after the storm but we milked those snow hills for all it was worth! Snowball fights, multi level slides, snow forts... They had a great time and other kids were wondering why my guys had bags of snow gear in school🤣
I grew up in central Oregon, then moved to northern Utah in 2005, Both places get tons of snow. Five years ago we moved to southern Utah and I definitely miss it. We get the occasional dusting around here, but it's never enough to have any fun with. My 6yo daughter has never made a snowman and it's sad. We didn't even buy her new boots this year. We still get plenty cold, just no snow to speak of. 🥺😥
Here in Boca Raton FL., it's going to be close to 90 for the rest of this week. In February! Nooooo! We want, nay, need, some semblance of winter before hurricane season. We have to be creative about having any winter -- so we went to Greenland in August and then spent all of December in Scandinavia. 😊
That's me every year all year!! 🤣👏
This is so timely! We just got a snow day today because they expect 6-10 inches of snow with blizzard conditions in southeast Wisconsin. It's starting any minute!
I said the same - South Central WI & the schools are closed in 3 counties. I-90 has plow trucks at the ready!
West Allis here!
Snow day. YAY! Send it over the pond to Michigan. Love using my snow blower.
Why is every skit slightly more accurate than I care to admit?
I saw the neighbor girls grabbing handfuls of snow with their gloves and eating it like snow cones. So cute!
It makes me feel so nostalgic. Winter was the best time of year as a kid 😍
This is hilarious 😂 it’s been such a weird winter on the east coast 🤷♀️
I love the Neighbors shirt “ It’s called pop not soda!”
Kim, I moved from Indiana 20 years ago to Florida. I like looking at the snowy pictures my friends send me but no, I don't miss the snow and cold. That's because we remind ourselves of the bad times in the snow e.g. Blizzard of 78. Falling on my rear on the ice. At my age I'd break something now!
In high school we took trays from the cafeteria to sled down the giant hill behind the school. It was AWESOME. Our friends who went to college in Northa Dakota would sit on an old car hood, tie it to a car, and drive around on a solid frozen lake.
Where we live now we can drive two hours to the mountains and see snow and then leave it behind. It's how I prefer it now.
I’m with Steve. My snowblower’s been waiting far too long, and all my neighbors’ driveways have been bare most of the winter. It’s been far too mild. 🤣
Relatable! Though this year, the snow is a bit disappointing.
Totally accurate. I've used cafereria trays and trash bags for sledding. 😄
It's snowing here in the Midwest and I love it! ❄️🌨️❤️
As a midwesterner it has been oddly non-snowy. I will admit, I kind of miss the snow. Not the ice and hazardous driving but the snow in general….it is kinda pretty especially when it’s the pure white kind that looks like something out of a movie.
I grew up with season-long snowpack most years here in SW Michigan. It's weird to me that the last several years have been more green (well, brown) than white.
It's almost Presidents' Day and we've had but flurries in Central Maryland this winter. In the 50s here today...with rain. I miss the snow as well.
I'm so glad we are covered in white today in Iowa! It's been a hard winter, we hadn't gotten near the amount we usually do, and I was missing it!
We're literally getting a snow storm today in South Central WI - school are closed in 3 counties & there are plow trucks sitting at every on ramp & meridian on I-90 from the Stateline to Madison. I can't wait to get away from the snow, but I'll probably feel the same way! & My son played for hours after school in the snow piles at the end of the parking lot at his little school 🤣❤❄
I agree one million percent! I miss the snow!!!!!!!!!!! Florida summers are HORRIBLE!
I miss the snow too! No snow here in Central, NJ. :(
I was like I need to find a NJ person. We have had a dusting once, and I am pretty sure I slept through the fall and melt of it 😞. I am by the shore so mixed bag you here sometimes. Ohh and don't forget the snirt people, I even miss that this year.
I just had an auto start put in the wife’s car 😂 true love ❤️
We just got 6" of snow, like yesterday. Love it. And yes, I used cardboard on the local "suicide hill" as a kid. We used giant innertubes pulled behind the pick-up when my kids were little. When they got old enough they started skiing with their dad.
In northern North Dakota we also had snirt in addition to fluffy snow and wet snow and ice and pogonip and all sorts of wintry stuff. The textbook definition of snirt does not include the joy of snow that falls brown, that is, true snirt. When the wind is strong enough to pick up dirt from the fields and the snow is too light, the snow and dirt mix before falling. Sometimes they even "enjoyed" snirt in town. And one day we had a mud storm when, yes, the rain mixed with dirt and fell as mud. Do I miss it? Not so much. But I just posted a pic of me enjoying a dish of ice cream outside in downtown Fargo when the high that January day in 2009 was -15 F (-26 C).
Currently having a snow day at home with all my kids and husband (he is a teacher). Best days EVER!!
I will ship you ALL the snow you want from Utah...I'm over it! I'm ready for warm weather.
You can use a broom?! Lol true story as a Canadian 😂
