Correction: Rear spindle should be torqued to 88Nm.

This is a pretty important detail for safety. You can replace a video on TH-cam keeping all the stats/links etc to add an 'edited' version. Or i think with the new TH-cam Editor you can even throw a simple correction text on screen and upload the changes.

@@Cosmitzian I have conflicting information. The service card I have that came with the bike says 59. The page from the manual that the manufacturer sent me said 88. I think anywhere in that range should be fine.

New TC-Max owner here. I can’t thank you enough about this video. Didn’t even know that there’s a Gates App that measures belt tension by sound. As it turns out my brand new bike’s belt pings at 160Hz which explains why it was unusually noisy. All sorted now. 👍🏻

So i finally received my Gates Krikit 1 mechanical belt tension measuring device as i've found the phone method just all over the place, esp on a slack belt, and i've tightened the belt following Gates' Poly Chain GT Carbon Tension Calculator based off of 8mm pitch, 1760 belt lenght, 12mm belt width, 30/120 driver/driven, and using your real-world stock dyno numbers of 7.26 hp at 1851 rpm (since any of the official numbers for RPM/HP are garbage). That gives us a perfect 84-87hz (which is smack dab within the middle of the range given by the chineese manual), and a corespondent 110-120lb tension per strand. I adjusted it via the Krikit to around 110, which also gave me via the phone app around 70-90hz, which is in the ballpark.
Thing is, not sure if its this or something happened with the heat and etc but i think i'm getting ever so slightly less range than before.

Spectacular, nowhere in my handbook does it provide belt tension data. I even asked the importer for the data but I got nowhere. Have you got a link to that shop service manual?
    Thanks for posting this.

It took an email to Super Soco China to get it. I sent an email back asking for the full manual but they didn't seem keen. I'm sure it'll turn up eventually.

Really useful video!! I used the carbon drive calculator to work out the tension and got 67-70hz. So really close to the actual manual spec.
You havnt by any chance got info on fork oil requirements at all? I notice you say yours have a slight leak. I’m currently on the hunt for new seals, hopefully can find some aftermarket seals to fit

Hi, thanks! I emailed Super Soco China to get the info on belt tension. I asked if they could provide a full service manual but they seemed reluctant and referred me to local dealers. Nice to hear from you on this platform. I wonder if you sorted out the brake pistons?

@@thecapacitator8137 I have tried my dealer but no luck getting a service manual or any sort of maintenance info tbh. Seems very odd they are so reluctant to give basic info like this. Just going to have to go at it myself. Found brake pistons and seals but not yet fork seals. Il measure them up when replace the fork oil.
Tc max has a lot of potential with a little modification

@@lhk8558 I think the dealers rely on service for most of their profit. So it's not in their interests to help you work on your own bike. Hopefully info will leak out gradually and we can try to work it out ourselves. You should start a blog or forum thread or something. You seem pretty clued up. I'd be interested to see what you're up to.

@@thecapacitator8137 yeah I think your probably right about that.
I will definitely put up some info when I get to draining the forks and refilling them. I imagine two years and 8000 miles the old fork oil is going to be pretty scummy.
Regarding brake pistons, I’ve actually found aluminium pistons as well as chrome replacements but not yet found out the benefits of one or the other. I’m hoping one is better with road salt

Hey! Thanks for the video! It’s very useful!
Although I’m having issues - when the belt is in middle, tension is perfect, then I torque down axle, and then rotating the wheel, gets slapped to left side of sprocket, touching sprocket rim and causing rubbing noise, as well as tension goes over 105hz.
Even though I try to do small adjustments, changes in belt location or tension for some multiple adjustments non-existent, and then again at one point extreme - belt is near to skip off the sprocket.
Should I apply some copper grease to the swingarm and that plate which is sliding for adjustment to make corrections smooth?

    • @thecapacitator8137
      @thecapacitator8137  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

It could be that your belt is tighter in some places than others. Check in multiple places. If the belt is trying to come off the rear pulley adjust only the right hand tensioner outward so the wheel adjusters appear un-even. Tweak the alignment in this way to get the belt to run true.

The belt always makes a bit of noise once it's worn in. Mine makes a clicking/creaking sound at low speed. At high speed it's more like a whining sound. Have you got the Gates app for checking the tension?

I recently had my belt and pulley replaced. The service center adjusted the belt tension a bit loose. I get 50-70hz frequency on Gates Carbon drive app. Is it okay to ride bike like this ? Should I loosen or thighten the belt tension in order to increase frequency to 77hz - 90hz?

You have to adjust only the right hand side backwards until the belt stays on. Seems weird having the wheel wonky but that's what the manual says to do.

Hi! No matter what I do I can’t get mine to be within spec. The range I get between different points on the belt is wider than spec. Currently I’m measuring between 75 and 105 Hz.
Any clue how to reduce that range? Cause it’s currently out of spec and I assume the introduced jolt can’t be too good for the motor.
