Hope he can play close to this level again this year

His best indoor HC level in years and showed what happens when he could have a run of matches in that time of the season. He got injured in Paris M1000 so was undercooked for the ATP finals and still won 2 matches. By the time this rolled around he was in rhythm and in god mode. This was his tournament. 4:53 is unbelievable
Before this in 2016, 2017 and 2018 he had barely played indoors thanks to injuries. Going further back, 2005 2008, 2012, 2014…

Without injuries Nadal would've destroyed all records, of that I have no doubt. God had to nerf him to make things interesting haha.

Wishing Rafa is able to play his very best one last time in the upcoming Davis Cup. Good luck to team Spain. A championship for his country would be the perfect send off for Spain's greatest sporting hero, loved as much by million other fans across the world.

Just look at his serve in 2019 and compare it to how he has been serving in the last 2 years...
I think this is one of the shots in Rafa's game that have totally declined lately, I don't understand why he didn't keep this serve motion, it was flawless...

    • @slightlybiasedrafaelnadalfan
      @slightlybiasedrafaelnadalfan 8 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

I agree but his serve was pretty good for him in early 2022 before he nosedived. Also considering he was having hip issues that forced him to have surgery last yr in this stint of him becoming washed, I’d imagine that’d also have a significant effect on the amount of torque he can generate on the serve bc that shot truly has never been worse than the last 2 yrs

    • @tennisradu

@@slightlybiasedrafaelnadalfan , but he wasn't serving well in 2022 either. In AO he made plenty of double faults in basically every match, it's just his flawless mindset and IQ that made him win that trophy. Personally after covid his level was never the same as in 2019, he dropped it gradually even if he still managed to win 3 Slams. This is what it is, the serve could've helped him avoid so many injuries, but for this you also need a much better team that what he had, in my opinion.

@@tennisradu Doubles yeah I remember the rate was up big time, but I feel like that was sorta deliberate with how much of an emphasis he had going after the 2nd more from the jump in 2022 and I do feel like he got some payoff out of it. His serve was awful in the final of AO but it also had some pretty good matches along the way and I do remember the djokovic RG match his 2nd for portions of it had a higher winning % than first and was around 60 for the match. I do agree that in general he declined out of the resumption of the tour after the long break. The eye test and even results def backs it up in addition to I think he himself saying that period of inactivity aggravated his foot issue. Even RG 2020 he was sluggish through large portions of the tournament and didn’t really play particularly great tennis till the semi and then leveled up big time for the final but that was sort of an outlier performance the type of which we only got a few times for the remainder of his time as a top player like Acapulco 2022 and that RG QF/Final.

In general though, I do think the post prime Nadal serve improvement, even with him at his best 2017-19, was pretty overrated. His 2nd def improved and was less predictable and more audacious under Moya but his serve used to be so clutch in his prime. More predictable, sure, but the reliability of his slider made it so it seemed like when he needed it, he could always throw in a great first and make the change up that much more unpredictable when he’d switch up the direction from the normal pattern which he often did in big moments a la his 2 love 40 holds against Djokovic at AO12 and USO13 most notoriously. Those type of serve bailouts barely ever happened for him in his 30s so many times for post prime Rafa, he’d serve amazing against lesser players tournaments like AO19, USO19 and then it’d just desert him for easier points when he needed it most. He was such a brilliant player it didn’t cost him most of the time and he could work around it but so many of his high profile post prime matches it just felt like he was having to work so much harder than his opp to hold and had no choice but to be sharp off the ground to compensate (showed up big time in both AO17 final in the 5th even the holds early, Wimby 18 classics, USO18 vs thiem, USO 19 final)

    • @tennisradu
      @tennisradu 8 วันที่ผ่านมา

@@slightlybiasedrafaelnadalfan , no, I don't think the 2017-2019 serve improvement was overrated. At the end of the day, you can't be as mentally and physically sharp at 32-33 as at 25-26, but it's a fact in 2019 he had one of the best percentages of second serve points won. You can't say the serve wasn't a reliable weapon back then (unlike how terribly he serves nowadays). In my opinion, the 2019 USO final against Medvedev was better than the 2022 AO one quality wise. I think 2019 was Rafa's best season since 2013 given how consistent he was in Slams and how many semis and finals he did that year. After 2019, he started to fade away until he could no longer do anything last year.

Spain won Davis Cup with Nadal and Co…. Not on clay only. And Nadal can increase team mate level when he is playing. This is much different.

Rafael Nadal🇪🇸 will win 🏆🇫🇷 20 or 21 Roland Garros and atleast 36 Masters on Clay or more from 2025 until 2034 until Age 48.
Claycourts have longevity to the Body. Knees and Joints don't absorb energy on Claycourts, give little to zero wear and tear on the lower extremities, less hurt and pain on Clay, which allows the body to play longer matches. It's slowed down on Claycourts, more point construction and can compete with each point until Age 48 with slowed down conditions.
Bill Tilden🇺🇸 won Clay Slams at Age 37, 41 and 42. Bill Tilden🇺🇸 won 10 Clay Slams overall and continued reaching SF or Finals of Clay Slams until Age 48.
No more longevity after Age 36 to compete in many events on Hardcourts. Must have a very low number of matches and events on Hardcourts per year from 2025-2034 with ❌ as guide to protect longevity on Claycourts and Grasscourts.
    Calendar from 2025 until 2034.
❌SKIP 🇦🇺Australian Open no more longevity to win on 5 Set Hardcourts after Age 36 onwards.
✔️Can undergo RF Ablation on the foot after by January 7 and rest until January 15. Can start training by January 24 onwards to 🇫🇷Montpellier.
    1.🇫🇷Montpellier-250(i)Hard🏆. 250pts
    2.🇫🇷Marseille-250(i)Hard🏆. 250pts
🏆 SKIP 🇳🇱Rotterdam for more rest. Win Titles and Can begin training 5 Hours daily on the fast Claycourts of Gstaad Palace or Gstaad Open in 🇨🇭Gstaad from February 20 until March 27. 🇨🇭Gstaad is in the soaring mountains, great for stamina, fastest Claycourts in the World, enough to transition onwards on Hardcourts, Claycourts and Grasscourts. 🇨🇭Gstaad has great weather in February and March, great place to heal, recover and reach peak level, to reach the highest level before the Claycourts of Europe.
    3.🇲🇨Monte Carlo-1000Clay🏔️🏆
    🏆 Win 17 or 18🇲🇨Monte Carlo Masters.
✔️Rest for 8 Days after the event.
    ❌SKIP 🇪🇸Barcelona to have more rest for 🇪🇸Madrid, 🇮🇹Rome and 🇫🇷Roland Garros.
    4.🇪🇸Madrid-1000Clay🏔️🏆
    🏆 Win 7 or 8🇪🇸Madrid Masters.
✔️Rest for 3 Days after the event.
    5.🇮🇹Rome-1000Clay🏔️🏆
    🏆 Win 17 or 18🇮🇹Rome Masters.
✔️Rest for 3 Days after the event.
    6.🇫🇷Roland Garros-2000Clay🏔️🏔️🏆
🏆 Win 20 or 21 🇫🇷Roland Garros Slams. Rafa Nadal🇪🇸 will have longevity on Clay until Age 48. By skipping 5 Masters 1000 on Hardcourts, and also withdrawing early in 🇦🇺Australian Open and 🇺🇸 US Open.
✔️Rest until June 17 after 🇫🇷Roland Garros. Train 5 Hours daily on the fast Claycourts of Gstaad Palace or Gstaad Open in 🇨🇭Gstaad from June 18 until June 26.
    7.🇬🇧Wimbledon-2000Grass🏔️🏔️🏆
🏆 Win 5 or 7 🇬🇧Wimbledon Slams. Claycourts and Grasscourts have longevity. Perennial RyeGrass gives a higher bouncing ball and slower conditions. Very few players are great on Grass with Rafa being one of those few greats, with a very good Calendar to peak for 🇬🇧Wimbledon.
    8.🇨🇭Gstaad-250Clay⛰️🏆
    🏆 Win 🇨🇭Gstaad.
🏆 Can skip 🇨🇭Gstaad by reaching Quarter Finals and onwards of 🇬🇧Wimbledon.
    9.🇦🇹Kitzbuhel-250Clay⛰️🏆
    ✔️Rest until September 1 after 🇦🇹Kitzbuhel.
✔️Removing more time away from playing and training on Hardcourts by playing 🇨🇭Gstaad is best for longevity After Age 36 and onwards.
❌SKIP 🇺🇸US Open no more longevity to win on 5 Set Hardcourts after Age 36 onwards.
✔️Only train 2 hours daily on Hardcourts after Age 36 onwards.
    10.🇨🇭Basel-500(i)Hard❌QF. 100pts
    11.🇫🇷Paris-1000(i)Hard🏔️❌R16. 100pts
❌ Withdraw early on Indoor Events to help prevent injuries.
    12.🇪🇺ATP Finals-1500(i)Hard🏔️❌RR. 600pts
    ✔️Rest for 21 Days after 🇪🇺ATP Finals.
Thank you Rafael Nadal for being a great champion, great person, having a great career and legacy. All the best after retirement. If the decision will change. A comeback is still possible. Many greats in tennis have done it.
The solution is to just skip 2 Slams and 5 Masters on Outdoor Hardcourts and Outside Europe, which can prevent injuries and continue a healthy career on Clay from 2025 until 2034. After Age 36 it is very old to compete on Big Titles and Slams on Outdoor Hardcourts. But on Clay, it's possible until Age 48 just like Bill Tilden. with Rafa and his FH on Clay it's possible until Age 48. Vamos!
