    Using the hang on breeder boxes has upped my fry survival by 50% or more. 😊 I do similar to what you do. I put a ready to drop female in the box with lots of Hornwort. I let the female drop in the box and then put her back into the main tank. I leave the fry in for 2 weeks. By then they're big enough and strong enough to evade the adults. At 2 weeks old I put them into the main tank and put a new female that's ready to drop into the box. Works really really well. 😊

    I am using the same breeder box I am going to add a sponge next time. I lost 7 endler fry that got through to the main tank. The bigger grates help and the last 5 are to big to get out now. Thanks for that tip!

    BTW, shrimp climbing to the top of the tank could be a sign of water quality issue. I have seen this once in my tank and it turned out the filter was clogged without me knowing. The adult shrimp are usually the first to react that way.

    Been living vicariously through your fish room since I found this channel a few days ago! I'm enthralled. If you had to choose 1-2 small (10-20 gallon) breeding projects - species or strains - for a relatively new hobbiest, what would you suggest?

    do your shrimps breed in the tank with the panda guppy? I was hoping to put my cherry shrimp together with my guppies. Just wondering if it is possible to get a stable shrimp population alongside guppies. Currently still in the midst of dry starting my 10 gallon with Monte Carlo carpet and I have 2 cherry shrimp adults + about 20ish 3 weeks old cherry shrimplets in a 1 gallon that I hope to migrate over once the tank is ready

    • @fishboy1415
      @fishboy1415  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The cull shrimp in that tank are doing well, I'm sure a lot of the shrimplets get eaten. The population is slowly growing. I would just make sure there are plenty of hiding places for the shrimp and the guppies are well fed.

    A lot of time when I put a female in the breeder box she's so stressed about trying to get back into her tank that I actually put some paper or news paper or a piece of cardboard between the box and the tank and they usually calm right down. Just something I've trial and error tested over the last several years. Completely breaking the line of sight seems to do the trick.
