  • Shielding is a condition in a molecule in which nucleus is surrounded with a cloud of electron whereas Deshielding is that state of a nucleus which has a less or negligible covering of electron. In the presence of an applied magnetic field, a shielded nucleus is not completely aligned in the direction of an applied magnetic field because the cloud of electrons opposes the applied magnetic field. So when energy is in the form of Rf incident on the nucleus than a shielded molecule absorbs very less amount of energy to shift its position from Alpha state to Beta state (The distance to shift between Alpha and Beta is very less so less energy is required)
In the presence of an applied magnetic field, a Deshielded nucleus is completely aligned in the direction of an applied magnetic field because the less cloud of electrons reinforces the applied magnetic field. So when energy is in the form of Rf incident on the nucleus than a Deshielded molecule absorbs a very high amount of energy to shift its position from Alpha state to Beta state with long distance.

    Sir little confuse
You say shielded atom or molecule require less energy ..from alpha to beta position but i think we use term shield atom absorb less energy and deshielded atom absorb more enegy..
If we give very less energy to shielded atom i think no effect is on shielded part..
I like the way you teaching
I regularly study on your channel .
    Thank You..
