    This is your best episode yet! As a retired military officer, who was gone during too many critical times for my family, leaving my spouse at home with the kids to deal with whatever came up, I can truly commiserate with Mark and Carol, and truly appreciate what you did to improve their lives. Thank you.

    Sheri might have been terrified on the top of the tower but she did it! I spent over 11 years on jump status in the U.S. Army. I’ve got over 100 jumps. I was scared on every one of them. The difference is that we are trained to use the fear, not be controlled by it. Use it to focus your concentration and apply your training and your chances of success go up exponentially. Good job, Sherri!!!

      No, if he really was over his head and feeling overwhelmed then restorative justice is the way and can bring back the balance over time to the family and help him come to balance too.
      The more we can go for win win ways, the better it is for ALL of us!
      Restorative justice works far better than judgement. When the balance is restored, there is so much more healing and the good tends to ripple out far and wide and for a long long time.

    Not sure about this in Canada areas... I live in the states and whenever I have a general contractor stating a price to build for me, I always ask them for a cost to build analysis. When we both look it over that analysis as the home owner and general contractor, then you know the true cost to build. Once that is agreed upon, the contract is written up stating that any over cost falls upon the general contractor. Also within the contract, you state that an invoice showing paid in full to each of the sub-contractors within 30 days after their job is completed, failure on the general contractors side by not showing these invoices is assumed that all invoice have been paid in full and any and all unpaid invoice not known, falls directly upon the general contractor to be paid in full and not by the home owner. Also add a start date and end date of completion to the project noting that failure of the general contractor not meeting the completion date will result in reducing the final payment by 1.5% per day (this is their profit added to the cost to build analysis).
    Overall, this is a basic contract that I use. If the general contractor refuses to sign it, I'll take my business to the next contractor until the one contractor is confident enough to sign and take full responsibility of the contract and build project.
    Remember: You are hiring these people to do a job for you.

    So many comments are so rude! Where is the appreciation for their service to country. They are still out the money given to the contractor, loans and family. You don't know their circumstances. You try to serve your country in Afghanistan while being taken advantage of.

    Leave aside judgement please, think and work toward win win solutions. Restorative justice can bring people together to make both or all sides relieved and learning and growing. I would guess this contractor who was a friend would love a way to make it right if he could.

    I love rewatching these episodes. Still looking for the second part of a couple of two parters but I'll take what I can get.
    While I know this happened a few years ago. the cost of $600k Canadian would be different to US $.
    Yesterday in my town, mostly blue collar with a fair amount of housing styles since the town was started in 1856. GM had a plant here Beth Steel had a factory here yada;
    Depending on where you live the houses can be anywhere from $200k on up. A nice detached single family with a nice little plot of land that was built around the 1920's has just gone onto market at a bit over $300k. If I had the coin I would. It's got a lot of really nice character.
    this morning I saw that a new lot is opening up where an old marina once was. Three story, two bed, two bath townhouse with garage on the first floor is starting at $600k+
    That's $858,522.00 Canadian. That doesn't even get you river access or simply the view.
    Make sure you keep your eyes on things. I don't care how much I love my cousin I wouldn't let him be the contractor for something like this
