This is your best episode yet! As a retired military officer, who was gone during too many critical times for my family, leaving my spouse at home with the kids to deal with whatever came up, I can truly commiserate with Mark and Carol, and truly appreciate what you did to improve their lives. Thank you.
There is no way you can single any one person who is a hero in this crew. Absolutely amazing how everyone pulled together to help those military family. Holmes, you are a God given gift. 💝😊
Mark and Carol have been through a lot, with Mark in the military, serving our country and making it safe. Thank you to all the men and women in the military for their service. I always loved this show and this has to be hands down my favorite show
Sheri might have been terrified on the top of the tower but she did it! I spent over 11 years on jump status in the U.S. Army. I’ve got over 100 jumps. I was scared on every one of them. The difference is that we are trained to use the fear, not be controlled by it. Use it to focus your concentration and apply your training and your chances of success go up exponentially. Good job, Sherri!!!
No, if he really was over his head and feeling overwhelmed then restorative justice is the way and can bring back the balance over time to the family and help him come to balance too. The more we can go for win win ways, the better it is for ALL of us! Restorative justice works far better than judgement. When the balance is restored, there is so much more healing and the good tends to ripple out far and wide and for a long long time.
Just wanted to say thank you for your service protecting our country and to all other service men and women protecting the country i can't thank you enough
Not sure about this in Canada areas... I live in the states and whenever I have a general contractor stating a price to build for me, I always ask them for a cost to build analysis. When we both look it over that analysis as the home owner and general contractor, then you know the true cost to build. Once that is agreed upon, the contract is written up stating that any over cost falls upon the general contractor. Also within the contract, you state that an invoice showing paid in full to each of the sub-contractors within 30 days after their job is completed, failure on the general contractors side by not showing these invoices is assumed that all invoice have been paid in full and any and all unpaid invoice not known, falls directly upon the general contractor to be paid in full and not by the home owner. Also add a start date and end date of completion to the project noting that failure of the general contractor not meeting the completion date will result in reducing the final payment by 1.5% per day (this is their profit added to the cost to build analysis). Overall, this is a basic contract that I use. If the general contractor refuses to sign it, I'll take my business to the next contractor until the one contractor is confident enough to sign and take full responsibility of the contract and build project. Remember: You are hiring these people to do a job for you.
For a contractor to do something like this to a mamber of the military , is beyond words ! A low life like that should be tracked down and sue his pants off , humiliated in the media and sent to jail !
A Veteran, no matter where they served, put their lives in harm's way for strangers. And not just military veterans, like me. Fire, Police, EMT's and a lot of others. We earned the right to play the Veterans Card.
My grand son just this past Friday Jan 24 2025 graduated from Marine training so I’m one proud grandma ( nanny ) ! His name is Colby and he goes to Camp Lejune for a month then Mississippi or Georgia for aircraft mechanic training ! So proud ! God bless the men and women of all our Armed services 🇺🇸🙏🏻❤️
These are the things worth watching. I mostly don't watch TV as there is nothing worth watching. Love this, as well as Mike's ethics and doing stuff right.
Spectacular!!! There's not enough we (you, Mike) can do for our military families. They were screwed by a contractor who was not up to the task, and Mike and his stellar crew have made it Right. I cried with her, for relief and joy!! Hopefully her husband can come home and actually retire ❣️
Thank you both for your service , and everyone else who is or has served , they make all countries safer and free to live in , And thank you to Mike and everyone involved in helping to “ make it right “ 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 And shame on the vile person who did this to a family ,
So many comments are so rude! Where is the appreciation for their service to country. They are still out the money given to the contractor, loans and family. You don't know their circumstances. You try to serve your country in Afghanistan while being taken advantage of.
I've found the majority of rude comments towards the Military are coming from jealous civilians who for whatever reason couldn't make the cut to serve. Unlike the Days of WWII, they just don't take anyone these days.
The homeowner will have opportunities with the airlines after military retirement. It will take years to pay off the construction loans. Mikes crew did a great job on the exterior and fireplace
Thanks Mike we hired an unprofessional contractor and left a mess We had an amazing man Ken and team and did one home at no charge He will come in. Spring to do more God sent Love your work and appreciate our service men ❤❤❤
Blessings on your family and home! Please remember, people, to “walk a mile in the other person’s moccasins before you judge them”. Leave aside judgement please, think and work toward win win solutions. Restorative justice can bring people together to make both or all sides relieved and learning and growing. I would guess this contractor who was a friend would love a way to make it right if he could. Thank you for going green with some renewables!
Ive framed houses, and helped my mom and dad build a log house, and helped finish a log house , and to say 600k to build this. I would have been at atleast 1 mill quote. Wow beutiful home. Thanks mike,
mr. Mike you are yes give the smile for a lot of family the one that is over it most man you are the guinea in the bottle make the wish come through happy new year and I love your job you do for all those family is my first thing ever to washand entertaining the people you have along with you at the same thing like you have a good heart to do the job questioning your authority for it but that is amazing love is all and God bless you and I love you
I love rewatching these episodes. Still looking for the second part of a couple of two parters but I'll take what I can get. While I know this happened a few years ago. the cost of $600k Canadian would be different to US $. Yesterday in my town, mostly blue collar with a fair amount of housing styles since the town was started in 1856. GM had a plant here Beth Steel had a factory here yada; Depending on where you live the houses can be anywhere from $200k on up. A nice detached single family with a nice little plot of land that was built around the 1920's has just gone onto market at a bit over $300k. If I had the coin I would. It's got a lot of really nice character. this morning I saw that a new lot is opening up where an old marina once was. Three story, two bed, two bath townhouse with garage on the first floor is starting at $600k+ That's $858,522.00 Canadian. That doesn't even get you river access or simply the view. Make sure you keep your eyes on things. I don't care how much I love my cousin I wouldn't let him be the contractor for something like this
Restorative justice works far better than judgement. When the balance is restored, there is so much more healing and the good tends to ripple out far and wide and for a long long time.
Some contracters are scum but there are good ones too. Before you hire one talk to a lot of people including people he has done work for.Awhile back one of the scum ripped off some grandmas and widowers. Their sons and other relatives had a talk with him. After he recovers, he won't do that again. One of the sons of the women he ripped off was the chief of police.Bad move.
One thing I learned years ago. Do not go into contract with a friend or family…… NEVER! Any money you give them as a loan or for any other purpose you will never see the money or the end of the contract. Sorry but when he said a friend I just laughed out loud.
Those pillars with the screw jacks at the top are just hideous. Why did they just leave the screw jacks visible? Just box it in with just a few pieces of scrap siding.
they got scammed by their "friend" hope he stays in jail for life and they eill never get out frum u der this...they will be in debt till their kids gow up and move out
I think we can have a much better world for our children when we teach them about restorative justice and help them to speak up when they start to get overwhelmed so they feel courage to get help early rather than fear judgement and make a worse more for themselves. Restorative justice works far better than judgement. When the balance is restored between all the parties involved, there is so much more healing and the good tends to ripple out far and wide and for a long long time.
Im looking at this amazing house... how many people are they planning on living here? Our home in Wyoming is about 6,000 square feet. Its really too big for us, now that all the kids are gone. But holy cow, you could fit 5 or 6 of our home in this monster
Sounds to me like they made some irresponsible decisions. Are living way beyond their means. Didnt protect themselves. Zero sympathy. Millions have gone thru the same thing. Join me he party.
That is a beautiful cabin I mean not really the wife and the husband they really fix up that place Mike and the crew they always do an awesome job and that man that messed up money up I need to sue him he need to get locked up I mean that was really messed up did they did see to this family now you can have piece of mind we love you and God bless 🙏🙏❤️❤😊😊😊
This was a nice, kind thing to do for this family. However, a dream home that requires her to be totally alone with 2 kids while he’s all over the world means a very lonely life with no close resources or friends. Or hospitals, or doctors, or pharmacies, etc
Back in the day,he was helping people who really needed the help. Now it’s just a bunch of whiny people. There are a lot more deserving people out there.
You know that this show has not been in production for quite some time. He and his children have moved onto other series involving the three of them. Those are still in production.
@jamesscully529 did you read my post? I said they made HUNDREDS of videos/ shows and keep reuploading the same videos and NOT others that they clearly have. This episode, by my count was uploaded 3x in the last month.
If your having a sub contractor/ contractor, and you don't think they're doing a responsible job/ permits pulled. Building to the blueprints. You need to be on- sit or within a short drive to make sure the work is done properly. If not - you fire them. they just kept dumping $ thinking that would solve the problem.

I love it when people get together to support our current and former military members. Thank you
How cool for Mike to hire his temps on full time! Recognition for all their hard work!
Mark and Carol have been through a lot, with Mark in the military, serving our country and making it safe. Thank you to all the men and women in the military for their service. I always loved this show and this has to be hands down my favorite show

Outstanding. From one vet to another, Bless you. Mike, bless You and the Crew as well. Well done.
Grateful Mike was able to finish this home for these awesome folks! I hope the contractor loses everything, their license, and goes to jail!

Hopefully he watches this episode and sees the emotion on the home owners faces
doesnt matter if its a military guy or not. You don´t do like the contractor to anyone. Plane and simple
Restorative justice please!
Awesome episode, beautiful house. I was kind of expecting Mike to get a ride in a military jet lol.
Not enough room in the cockpit.

Well calling Ghost busters might not work, but Mike sure helps a ton.
Fantastic video 😊
No way Jose, $600,000 for that? I would say DOUBLE EASILY. I'm not sure the year of this show but DOUBLE.😂😂😂
This show is from 2012. Not sure about Canadian home prices. But in the US it would have roughly doubled in price since 2012
Wow great job guys and gals ❤🙏🏻

Amen thank you for your service may God bless you aboundenly in Jesus name

Beautiful house Beautiful family can't trust family friend and family member
The contractor should reimburse the money that was wasted
The contractor likely doesn’t have any money left

It looks to me like it started out as a Pioneer Log Home of William's Lake, BC.
Nice one crew... thumbs dowm to the nay sayers
I would hope you get some lawyers to go after these horrible contractors and show the results
Don't know who's old enough. Remember Wall Street Times published an article in 1979 "GREED IS GOOD"? It didn't work out so well, at all
I love the overall look. Just don't particularly care for all the exposed hardware between the posts. The crew did a great job with it as always
Wow, real plywood.woohoo!
Been there and still wearing the tee shirt.

Who wouldn't be happy flying fighter jet? Good for you Sherry fort the repel.
Champagne dreams on a beer budget.
I thought fighter pilots were like 5 foot 5 inches! $600k seems way low. That heating system would be very expensive for most of us.
Depends on the specific fighter jet they pilot.
Former Marine here & our pilots were 5’8” up to 6’2”
Meaford Ontario ... Holmes did not make it right !
When your job is flying a sky hot rod,who would not be happy,,,,,,

If the house was finished for $600k like they originally budgeted for, he wouldn’t have to. But they went something like $500k over budget
now they will owe 2 million dollar...
This contractor is disrespectful toward the family he has no class.
GREAT SHOW
no way he can afford that house.
they scammed him

Now u have to live in the gt area.
I find it difficult to hear that this is a $600,000 build? More like a million .5 or so?? good grief. The lot alone must be $75,000 or so?
Episode is from 2013. Prices have gone up considerably in the past dozen years.
