My hw 1080 let go last weekend,I've upgraded to an axe brushless system ! 3300kv and it's a beast ! Bit of talking and rambling,and some running footage ! What an improvement !
Hey, I´m getting that set of 3300kv/ax550 for my trx-4 too. Is the 45t/12t gearing combo enough in relation to speed/torque or would it be reasonable to upgrade the pinion to a 15t one straight away? Asking, because I run 7600mah 2s lipos only. With the 15t pinion and 3s it could get a bit crazy though. Hopefully the 2-speed gearbox´s low gear makes up for the loss of torque with it, or what do you think?
You won't regret the choice it's a fantastic system,mine is the sport and only one speed,it was 39/17 with the brushed system in and plenty quick with the 45/12 it's a hair slower than it was but still loads quicker than walking pace,I'd say with the gearbox you should be fine taking into consideration running 2s lipos.ive a spare 2s lipo for emergency and it's a fair bit slower but it still does the job.hope this helps
Hi I'm interested in purchasing this motor esc combination for my sport, I can't decide on the KV though. So with the 45T spur it's similar speed as stock on 3s? If that's the case I'll probably go with the 3300KV because as I understand it it's best to have a higher KV and gear down.
It's alot quicker with the 45t spur and included 12t pinion, it's a great system but I actually changed it up for a fusion 1800kv and for me I found it much better more low down control longer battery life and still quicker than walking speed on 3s with a 45/15 spur pinion. I have a video on my channel of the fusion.

I like the fusion I've got 2 now I found the 3300 axe to be too powerful for a cralwer I'm only bothered about control and low speed. The v2 may have more control I'm not sure but I found that with the axe there was less of a range for low end and you had to be really steady with the throttle... Both great systems personal choice it's the fusion for me.
I just got mine and the gears do not really seem to connect no matter which position I put the motor in. Which position did you end up using, did you have a similar issue?
You need the 45t spur to be able to run the included 12t pinion. Spur gear isn't expensive £5 in my country. You will have so much more low end and torque 👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks, In this video I was just running some cheap 3 stage foams think from then on I moved to a set of hair Bun donuts, but since this video there has been alot of changes and tyres.
No I didn't the 3300 axe comes with the 12 t pinion as it's a 5mm shaft I'd already fitted the 45 for lower control. But then swapped out the axe for a fusion in the end
I never had the r2, I'd adjusted all sorts rate/curve/punch etc, I had a go of a friends fusion and I found it better for me there was alot more low end control over the axe, you had to have a super steady finger if you were wanting to keep the wheel speed super slow. I also changed up the interior layout of the truck and the fusion suited me better. Axe is great system but I'd probably advise the lesser 2700 or more. Again all my opinion.

My Xerun Axe 3300KV goes twice faster reverse than frowards.

Make sure it's not reversed on the hand set and re-set the end points I'd say.
Motor rotation.. in HW link.. if the original is CCW.. change to CW.
Just swap the a and c wires your welcome. Fixed my drag slash with the max10 sct

Long gone now trx4 was tired by time I parted ways also went to a fusion 1800 before selling it.
You like the 3300kv? Want to get one for my gen 8 that weighs 13 lb but I can't decide what KV
It was super powerful, I did find it lacked a little low end control but for a heavier truck I'd say its ideal 👍🏻

Can't remember the letter position but if you run a sport you need the 45 spur gear 👍🏻

Not sure don't own the defender, sure it will be plenty in it.
Got me a 1400kv cause I want torque and not top speed at all, slower the better when using these toys!
Dropped the axe ages ago and went to a fuison much better!

Sure it will do everything that's needed. The axe 3300 was too much it did both but had very little low end throttle control.
