I think this finger wave tutorial is the Bee's knees! Joy Long is one cute little tomato, too! LOL! Loved the 20s style silent film! Thanks for sharing. I don't need to curl my hair, though. It has a natural marcel wave in it. Really! I usually try to straighten my hair out, to try to achieve the other popular 20s style (like the one Miss Fisher has)! Ta-ta darlings! ~Janet in Canada

They had blow-dryers in the mid-1920s. I collect old beauty trade magazines, and I've seen ads for FOEN hand-held dryers.
The earliest floor-model dryers looked like huge blow-dryers. Then someone had the brilliant idea of adding a helmet to better circulate the air around the head, and the idea caught on.
What they DIDN'T have were curlers. At least not until the early 1930s. Until then, beauty shops used curling tongs and pincurls. And women set their hair in rags at home.

Great video:) I love the vintage S wave. I have been trying to learn how to do this... Can you do this look on long hair? Can you get the S wave to go the length of the hair, a video demonstration perhaps, I've only ever seen it on short hair.

Did you roll the hair like a normal set on both sides can't tell roller direction of the left side.

Cute video. My mother had finger waves that were set with old fashioned rubber grips. By the way, I don't think women in the 1920's wore all that eye makeup!
Well I'm not sure about the eyeliner but I think some of them wore eyeliner.
