This video explains why it's so hard to draw characters faces the same every time and gives tips on how to get better at drawing characters consistently
I love how expressionate your characters are and i hate the fact no one talks about how to draw characters consistently?! This is something I struggle a lot with as a character designer and Im thankful you broke it down! Your videos are really awesome and I hope you release more character design stuff soon!
OMG, not only the information you give is extremely valuable, but also the way you edit videos is highly sophisticated. So many artistic decisions in presenting your experience...Bravo!
Pleaaaaase make a video about reference sheets as well! I personally struggle with character consistency and have thought of making references for myself, but I can’t seem to figure out what to focus on when making them!
i mean it depends on what you want out of them. personally i like a focus on getting a clean turnaround of the full character with as many angles as needed for their shapes and colors, name, pronouns, color palette, and maybe extra Illustrations and text to show some extra stuff. but this is just for a casual oc ref sheet
something that's helped me recently is making each aspect of the design deliberate. It's a lot easer to keep consistency when I know the chin is flat on the end, the cheekbones are prominent and level to the eyes, and the top of the head is slightly squared giving a planchet shaped appearance, than to just tell yourself "this character has an angular face"
Wow, this was SO helpful, I’ve been putting off making a reference/ model sheet for an oc of mine, so this helped me to be inspired! And those animations in it *so clean, so well done* amazing, great and VERY helpful video!!
I've always wondered this about tv shows/movies as well. They have lots of people working from different backgrounds but they make the characters look the same everytime.
THANK YOU I've been searching for a video like this for so long!! Everyone talks about same face syndrom, but I have the opposite problem and its furstrating. Thanks to your video I know what to work on! Also, for someone who struggles with this wanted to add a potential reason why it may be happening - not thinking in 3d enough. Try to picture your character as a 3d object while you draw them, and use references of models of 3d heads - there are plenty of free ones. Look up asaro head for example. Hope this helps! ❤
This is so helpful! I make comics and struggle with keeping my charscters consistent panel to panel so I'll defo be coming back to thus vid when i get stuck!
This is really great! It’s a little bit jarring, though, that the frame pops around a lot, During speed drawing. Is there a way to keep it focused on a certain area?
I’ll definitely make a video about model sheets but in the meantime, I just posted a video about character turnarounds and I’d love for you to check it out! Thanks!✨✨✨
I'm drawing myself/my persona in comic strips and portraits (A hijabi girl, glasses, a round, slightly chubby face) and I struggle with facial inconsistencies. I don't get people who have Same Face Syndrome 😅
I think struggling with inconsistency is a rite of passage for all artists!😭 Once you make it through that, you then have to deal with same face syndrome. I think I’ll also make a video on Same Face Syndrome. It’ll be fun and informative!✨
Bro, I've been trying to make a model sheet for my character for so long and I'm really REALLY struggling with getting the side profile right. I'd even gone as far as to make lines going from each piece of the front profile (like eyes and mouth and nose etc...) to make sure everything lined up right but it's just not working. 😅 Idek what to do. I'm really not that great to begin with. 😂 lol Do you have any videos going on depth on how to create a side profile? I know that must sound really dumb, but I'm desperate. 😅
Hopefully you see this... I just came across your videos & love them so far. I want to get into art but specifically the style you drew Kiki in & older disney cartoon styles similar to this. I have a lot of questions I'd like to ask you if you don't mind. The main one being, do I need to study human anatomy for 2D drawings like this cause I'm not trying to go as far as 3D.
Hey!✨ It’s always a pleasure to help! ✨✨✨ I was greatly influenced by a number of Disney artists, and I think to get a similar style, you’ll need to have a decent grasp of human anatomy. I highly recommend Proko’s anatomy course. Start with the first one and try to do all the lessons. While I was learning anatomy, I had some of my greatest leaps of improvement and I have no doubt that anatomy will help you too! If you have any more questions, don’t hesitate to ask! Hope this helped.✨✨✨

I’m genuinely blown away by this! Not only was this really helpful, but YOU DECIDED TO INCLUDE ANIMATIONS?!!
Thank you✨✨✨🙏🏾! I’m glad someone noticed the effort! This is such a morale boost!✨ I guess I’ll keep animating in my videos! ✨

This is why 3D modelling software is infinitely superior to human artists.
Human artists make 3D models.
