Mazinkaiser SKL was literally the most satisfying thing to watch for me. The fights and everything were just absolutely amazing, it really sold home how much of a demon SKL was.
Probably worth mentioning that in some Super Robot Wars games (such as the Alpha trilogy), the original Mazinkaiser is the result of giving Mazinger Z a power-up with Shin Getter's Getter Beam.
The melee style also resembles Mihawk from One Piece - the guy only needs to swing his huge-ass sword once and he cuts a warship in half. ...Come to think of it, that's Sänger Zonvolt's style too. Heck, the SKL is Dygenguard with two pilots...
Yeap, Fire Wars sound like "You Give Love a Bad Name" and "Livin' on a Prayer". And "The Big O" OP sound like "Flash" by Queen. They don't have so strict copyright laws in Japan. It's seen as an homage.
The whole gun kata fighting style is really popular in Japan. Tres from Trinity Blood does it (only in the anime), some characters from Gundam SEED Destiny do it, Lockon from Gundam 00 does it in the 2nd season and the movie, Spike from Cowboy Bebop does it, Vash and Knives do it in Trigun, and then there's Magami in gun mode SKL.

the pistol fighting reminds me of the movie equilibrium. especially the part at 1:15. that doesnt take anything away from this though as equilibrium was fucking epic and seeing a mazinger do that made my jaw drop.
One of the scenes from Equilibrium was actually exactly adapted into the Trinity Blood anime. XD That stuff is really popular in Japan for some reason.
@@DeltaSilver88 I wouldn't be surprised. Chow Yun Fat's Bullet Movies and Equilibrium all used alot of Gun Kata or Gun-Fu styled action beats, and Late 90s to Early 2000s sold those movies really well, especially when the Matrix kicked off.
if you guys think this is bad, dont check out new getter robo, they make these 2 look like saints. no joke. one of the main characters introduction is basically him pillaging a village and raping 2 women. while one of the other 2 is a literal terrorist, who is also a sadistic psychopath. that get introduced by gauging the eyes of a follower before slicing his throat, because he dared question the morality of their terrorist cell, who was massacring a government building... the last one is "just" a complete sociopath with no care for anyone else. and who almost got the other 2 killed multiple times because he was "too into it".
Let's be real, the OVA should have had this song thrown in somewhere. Maybe after Wing Cross during the final fight with Kiba and Iron Kaiser, or even the end credits of the last episode.

well, kinda, since mazinger devilman was mazin saga, a rare manga from go nagai, where the mazinger z is actually an armor(not a giant robot), and its identical to the mazinkaiser. and way more powerfull.
I admit, I find it impressive a full AMV can be made of only the first episode of this. I also am slightly annoyed, because this remains the only series in the franchise that the fembot was actually almost as powerful as the main character.
Its kinda funny, Mazinger Z canonically had a machine intended for that(Minerva X was to be Mazinger's equal) that was just never made before Gramps Kabuto fuckin bit it, and then Dr. Hell steals the plans and makes it And it kinda sucks because its made with his Super Steel and Nuclear Power instead of Super Alloy Z and Photon Power like intended
They sort of did that with G Gundam - Rising Gundam was more of a range weapon and God/Burning Gundam was a definite melee focus. However, there is no reason a female mecha couldn't throw out, say, Thunder Break, which is both ranged and Great's best attack. No reason except the fact that Great was titalular. Also, well, yes, the whole point of WINGle is its WINGS. SKL was all about 80s style not making sense, so this is small peanuts.
