    I am a Bama fan and alum but I started watching the MAC games several years ago because there were a couple of games a week on TV during the week instead of Saturday. I had just gotten my new big screen flat panel TV and would watch anything sports because it was so awesome. Turns out, the MAC is very competitive and entertaining to watch. The casual fan will not be disappointed if they attend a game.

      yah, mid week MAC games are the best. even in the depths of winter, when it's 30 degrees and raining, and there are like 1,500 fans there, it's great to see. I remember I used to bet a lot on Miami when Big Ben was the qb, cause I spotted him as being something special. he most always seemed to win those years. they had a great coach at that time who sadly right after all of his success, he went onto coach Indiana, but got a brain tumor and died. I remember big ben went to one of his last games he coached on the sideline cause he remembered his coach. I thought that showed some class

    I’m a Ball State alum. The stadium now is much better than it was when I was there. But the thing that still bothers me to this day is the temporary-looking aluminum bleachers on the east side of the field. After all the improvements that’ve been made, this sticks out like a sore thumb to me. If they would build a permanent structure with the same dimensions as the press box side minus the press box, Scheumann Stadium overall would be a nice little mid-major venue.

    Miami University, the Great Miami River, and Little Miami River are named after the Miami Native American Tribe. The city of Miami, FL is named after the Great Miami River, because the architects of the road between Daytona Beach and Miami were from Dayton, OH and they got to name the cities at the ends of the road.

    Fun fact: That's the 2nd UB Stadium and the previous one was built only a few years before it. When I went to UB in 1984, they were still Division III and playing in the ancient stadium on the Main St campus - the stands on one side were condemned and not allowed to be used, the other half SHOULD have been. But in the next year or two they opened UB Stadium version 1 on the Amherst campus. It was a nice little stadium, earth berm built. But then they announced they were moving to Division 1 FCS and so they built ANOTHER UB Stadium that first opened in 1993. The 'old' stadium is now called Walter Kunz Stadium (yeah that name... lol) and it's still there because who wants to tear down a stadium thats less than 10 years old? It's a state university - your tax dollars at work, New Yorkers! :D

    • @catsandmusicandmorecats9146
      @catsandmusicandmorecats9146 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh by the way, the reason they didn't just expand the V1 UB Stadium - which reportedly was made to be expandable - was that whoever makes these decisions decided it was on the wrong end of the campus, so the new one was built next to Alumni Arena (UB's Amherst Campus was built in the late 60's during the student riot era, so it was built in a 1/2 mile-plus long line of buildings so as not to have a central point to demonstrate at. I have less than fond memories of literally running the length of the campus 'spine' to get to a class 10 minutes after the previous one...)

However, I've been to Akron's Infocision Stadium and besides the name that stadium is fantastic. I actually went to 3 games the first year it opened ,in 2010 I think, and it was nicer than many some of the Big Ten stadiums I've been to. The MAC should add Eastern Illinois and Youngstown State to the conference if they ever expand imo

    No. Miami Ohio got its name from the tribe that was local to the region.

    BG Alum. So the story of how we got our colors is basically that an old university official early on saw the colors orange and brown in the feathers on a woman’s hat during a trolly ride to Toledo.

    Just so you are aware.. with the American Football stadiums.. especially the smaller schools etc . They will have one large "main" grandstand and a smaller one on the other side of the field. The home and neutral fans sit in the big stands.. the away fans sit in the small one on the other side of the field. I noticed you mentioned a few times about the smaller stands.. this is why!

    UB Stadium was built for the 1993 Universiade, or World University Games. The end zone stands were not original to the stadium.

    Went to BGSU 80-81 on student exchange from Alabama. Everyone believed couldn’t believe when I said Alabama had only 10-11,00 @ that time, & that Bryant Denny Stadium was ‘only’ 60,000 capacity then. Everyone assumed because Alabama was so good in football then, we had 40-45,000 students. Also, it was hard to believe football was #3 behind ice hockey & men’s basketball.
    Now we have 38,600 students & the stadium is 102,000 & change. It’s not uncommon for 100,000 to show up just to tailgate.
