Hi Pete - that's stellar playing and beautiful. I had a techie question on "why the capo" for this piece? I usually think of them as a way to keep a known chord pattern when a vocalist requests a key change to fit their range better; or, sometimes (for me!) as a crutch to be able to play along with a recording. I'd be interested to know why you chose it on this rendition... I'm guess maybe it just sounds "right" in that key, or maybe something more technical related to drop D tuning. I'm really a flute guy so capos don't work well for us... but I've been picking up the mandolin over the last few years too and have been meaning to experiment more, but only have used them when my guitarist puts one on and I'm following her chords so it's easier to think together. Thanks for your music here!
Love this! Fiddle on the way
Wow. What superb phrasing, Pete; really lovely. And the Collings sounds like bells.
Beautiful as always Pete Petty
nice playing and song
Your playing just might convince me to learn open right hand technique
