God of War (2018) solidified the game series as being one of my favorites of all time. It’s such a beautifully crafted game that I can’t help but always give it praise
as someone who never played the games but followed the lore, i can say that Kratos does deeply love his son. casual fans seem to think he doesnt like his son or didnt care for him much, when it is the complete opposite. kratos wants atreus strong enough to live a long happy and healthy life but not a warriors path. the remorse he has for all his actions and the remorse he has for failing atreus (as he sees it he failed earlier on with atreus not interacting enough etc) speaks volumes of kratos character. but he was a spartan who knew little to nothing of close familial connections so this is all kind of new for him
Even at his worst, Kratos's one soft spot was always children. Even Pandora, who wasn't his. He nearly stopped his quest to kill Zeus in order to save her. He always loved Atreus, but in his mind he truly believed he was only a monster, that Atreus would be better off knowing as little as possible about him. Not to mention the pretty reasonable concern that, being his son and being a God, if Atreus had inherited his father's rage and skill for cosmic levels of destruction, combined with godly powers he could cause just as much damage as young Kratos did.
That's what I love about Kratos he holds himself equally to blame when bad things happen because of something that involves himself. He really walks the walk with the whole we must be better mantra of his

I think the berserkers didn't speak Norse because this comic is so close to God of War 4 that it wouldn't make sense for Kratos to be able to learn an entire language in that time frame.
@@davecullins1606 Kratos has been in the Norse realm for a long time by this point. Long enough to have Atreus who's almost the age he was in the game. What do you mean he didn't have time to learn? It doesn't take a decade to learn a language.
It's funny because when you see Atreus Miss his first shot hunting deer, you could see Kratos's rage meter increase as he spoke. This kind of confirms that even normal interactions would trigger his rage and that's why he would continuously trained to calm himself.

Easily one of the *biggest* detractors of the game. Abysmal enemy variety, they really got beef things up in the sequel.
