  • Tge Mercedes Benz E Class is back again, this time there is pothole damage to car as it is taking on even bigger potholes and faster than ever before, potholes so big in fact that they popped my tires, will it survive?.
I Film it in 4K slow motion and mount additional high-speed cameras so we can see how the suspension works closer and more in detail than ever before, I am amazed at how well the car handles these extreme potholes and extreme situation.
How far I can push this car until it breaks ?, let's find out.
This is episode 2, there are more episodes coming up right after this one so stay tuned and subscribe.
Also, tell us what you think in the comments and if you have any suggestions don't hold back.
This is the first full Format TV Version posting to TH-cam, please also check us out on Discovery Channel as well.
This car as good as it looks was scheduled to go to the crusher and a week before it was getting picked up I decided to use it for this series, due to legal reasons it could not be retitled, and could not be salvaged, , all the parts that I stripped off of this car I gave away two other E-class owners for free. Contrary to what many people believe my intention is not to destroy or trash this car.
so I'm going to answer all of the other comments and questions that were sent to me in a separate video on our behind the scenes Channel,

Warped Perception that's why the 47,5% of taxis in my country are E class (diesel engined). The other 47,5% are Skoda Octavia (diesel engined too). Finally the last 5% are other cars like Toyota Corolla, BMW 5 series, Opel, Peugeot, and even Toyota Prius (all diesel engined, except the last).

Great video! Living in Chicago, just a bit north of where this video was made, I am very aware of how insanely bad our roads are and the beatings our cars take as a result. My MKz with low profile tires polished rims has definitely slowed me down as all it takes it one good hit and you're parting with a few G's.

If you can imagine that killer pothole, but about 3x bigger, and with 70% area of the road is potholes, that's what my road used to look like (70% was not an exaggeration, I did the approximation looking at Google maps a couple years ago, that's how bad the potholes were). I knocked the fenders off my dirt bike and got launched into a ditch by one of the 5 ft diameter holes (landed it well enough, but was not a pleasant experience...). Solution was just to turn the road into gravel, so it was only paved for about 2 years... Pretty crappy job making it if the road only lasts 2 years before they give up on it, turning it back into gravel.

*NOW i'm impressed, i was kinda upset that you trashed this fine car at first but now i'm seeing valuable science play out in front of me here and it's just as interesting as the car it's self. seeing how the energy transfers through the whole frame like that when it's jostled around by the impact is pretty impressive. It shows what is going on with the external components and the underlying frame parts that we never get to see normally. still kind of upset because this was a totally repairable vehicle. yeah looked like the lower control arm bushings are worn slam out on that car too. it would be nice if after all of this you could put it back together and drive it still but even if not you should be able to get a pretty good penny for all of those parts you ripped off of it from people rebuilding wrecked cars like this one. ebay is yo friend*

You might not catch it at normal speed... but I love how the high speed shows just how wobble everything really is. I think you really should go to a gun range and point those cameras at some guns being shot. That would be a pretty cool project.

I see the body remains undistorted while running over the pothole. I am curious to see how Lexus performs under the same stress conditions. Nice job! Very well done.

I am very impressed i thunk in the next episode this guy should demonstrate "what happens when you hit a wall straight on at 35 mph" and to make things interesting he should do it without a seatbelt

+Andre Stojanovic they already have those types of videos out there, that's a boring idea. I don't really like Crash Test videos. Any other suggestions?

Has anyone else taken note that having removed certain parts affect its characteristics drastically? Like reduced structural integrity from removing the front fenders, the doors, and hood, not to mention the reduced weight changes things a lot too. Hmmm

Holy crap those control arms and tie-rods took a beating, but held up. Best one yet, keep these videos coming.

+Russell Poyner it's crazy all of the things that happen that we can't see. For one because they're covered up for two because they happened too fast, but it's impressive how much abuse those arms take even under normal circumstances

i developed pot hole tests and analyzed road hazard results for the number 1 tire company. there were suspension systems that were not very good for the pot hole test. this variable was removed from the test. as you demonstrated, pinch shock damage was the main concern. broken cords result in rapid tire pressure loss. damaged cords can result in broken cords and rapid air loss surprise sometime later. factors were pot hole geometry, vehicle speed, tire pressure, tire design. one of the major factors is tire aspect ratio. pinch shock damage severity goes up dramatically as sidewall height is decreased.

ahmad ghannam almost, been really busy prepping all the new episodes and editing the Blowing up See Through Engine running Nitromethane, bad video ended up being like 40 minutes long, we have to get that cut down to at least 25 minutes if not shorter. Thanks for watching !

Interesting to see the extreme compliance in the front end bushings. Judging by the movement in the Lower control arm bushing, I would guess that those bushings are shot.

Did you cause any other suspension damage after bending your wheel? Curious if the force that bent your wheel did anything noticable to your suspension?
      Thanks
