Yes! Some reviewers failed to mention the Fast Pair feature of the buds, it's so unbelievably seamless. Unlike my WH-1000XM3s, it takes quite a while to connect with the NFC. XM4s have now become my daily use! 👌
The 5th pocket info : originally intended for the watch but made a resurgence with the rail roads. Railroad workers would place thier wedding rings, watches, or whatever to maintain both security of item and safety. As a kid I would put my house key in that pocket.
The XM4’s are absolutely phenomenal! A whole step above the XM3’s. Wind noise reduced, sound quality improved and feels more sleek in your ear. The touch controls are waaaaay easier to use because of the bigger touch pad. Only downside to me is the foam eartips, not only Sony but any foam eartip just seems to hurt the inside of my ear. Also can you locate your earbuds if you loose them? In a nutshell am I going to missing out on any features oppose to having an android based phone?
This was one of my major concerns as well. My previous pair of XM3 had the left (master) earbud go bad before the right. It would only last one hour before crapping out. If you watch the whole video, you will see that the way the XM4 operates is different; both earbuds directly communicate now. This should theoretically even out the lifespan of each bud. Thus far in my personal use it holds true.
One of the best ANC buds in 2021/2022. If you think the bass too heavy, then you should try clear bass eq. Btw i really like this intelligent buds ❤️ sony the best and also 'The First Take'
How do you renamed the EQ options available? I would like to change the "Custome 1" and "Custom 2" to something else just like you did with "Rock/Indie", "Hip Hop," etc. Thanks in advance. Great review by the way. I recently bought these earbuds, and they truly are the best of the best! Way much better than the Bose QuietConfort ones and Huawei's FreeBuds Pro.

I just got these yesterday and love everything about them other than one thing. I don’t find the earbuds to be comfortable in my ear. So, I’m probably going to return them soon.
This video helped me make my mind up! I have the on ear XM4’s wanted some earbuds too had pros before so decided to go with these! Amazing sound case is a lot smaller than images show
Thanks for the great review. I am in the market for a new pair and was wondering when the next version will be available. I just don't want to get this pair and a month later a new gen comes out.
Can you use LDAC and EQ simultaneously? It might sound like a dumb question but my WH-1000XM3 can't do both at the same time and I feel like it is a huge miss by Sony.
Got similar taste. Pac hiphop. Abd rock I’d go to the fighters as well lol. Are the 5S scheduled for a release ? I’m subscribing first time viewer. Good stuff
The biggest issue I have is on phone calls, what headphone/bud is the best at cancelling the background noise for the person your speaking with on the phone. My Bose seem to maginfy the background noise. What do you suggest? I am between these and the Blowers and Wilkins Pi7

Just saying that no big company deserves any more respect than us giving then money when they happen to make the best products. I bought the sony wf-1000xm4's because they are the best buds for me personally, I did not buy them because they are made by sony or because of their name. I don't care about the brand, I care about the product.
Funnily enough, I have the medium ear tip in my right ear and the large in my left ear... and it's perfect. Basically what I'm trying to say is if you use an ear tip you think are great, but only one ear is saying it's good, don't be afraid to mix and match different sizes for both ears.. My wife has one small and one extra small (3rd party) and she loves the fit.
I like Sony earbuds, but the one problem I always have with them is the mic. How are the mic in these and are they comparable/better than the AirPod Pros?
Since these earbuds are arguably the best when it comes to ANC, Sony should name them something like "Sony: Tranquility" or "Sony: Zens." Sony:Zen 4s just kind of rolls off the tongue.
Um ok planning on buying it.... It's expensive... So I have to ask... How's the battery life now ?... Online it says they are uncomfortable to wear and battery life gets terrible .. Any users confirm ?
Not one of the ear tips worked for me. After a day of trying to get a seal and varying poor sounds, I tried my Jabra 65t tips. Perfect!!! Ended up buying AZLA SednaEarfit Crystal Standard 3 Pairs MS/M/ML (M SET) which made them sound brilliant.
Use this Sony earbub to talk to other people on the other line, can you hear it? But for other types, sometimes the talk signal they hear is almost impediment.
I got these pair of earbuds a day ago and i find that even with the ANC feature turned on, i am able to hear the noise from the outside world, such as let's say the sound from the television across the room, are my earbuds defective?
Thanks for eq! Electric guitar is now way better to listen to but for someone with heavy metal taste I would skip these cuz there is not enough bass. Other things on headphones are good.
Does Sony 1000XM4 has air equalization that AirPods Pro has? Do you feel pressure inside your ears when chewing and feeling of head fullness. That’s the one reason that kept me with AirPods Pro.
Have question: have you reviewed these, XM4, compared to Senheiser Momentum 2 volume level ? I find the Momentum 2's are not that loud. Considering switching to XM4 - if they are loud while still maintaining good quality.
sennheiser more suitable for vocals, orchestra, live music Or maybe oldies. It's Sound more brighter and details compare with sony xm4. But sony have great anc, LDAC, more customizable EQ and sony original setting is really good for pop song.
I’m almost sold on buying these but I’m hearing the overall volume is quieter than AirPods Pro which I already own. I like my music loud so are these actually quieter or are people that are having that problem just having eq issues?
Are you using the default Equalizer? For loud rock I use Excited setting it gives loud highs and a rounded bass (I've also found pushing the top of the ear bud into your ear gives a massive boost to bass). The other loud settings are Bright or Treble Boost
@@WhatGear They are excellent sound but if you do any running or cardio, they fall out of your ears extremely easily. Had to buy a Bose Sports for activities!

I got Jabra 75th Elite for a year and a half and I told myself let's move to something else, so I went on this Sony earsbuds. I figure out that I spend money for nothing cause' they're so quite, like you placing your hands on them to avoid the sound form coming out form the earsbuds.
Can I use all options thru taps and touches? like play/stop, next/prev, volume +/-, NC on/off, ambient sound so for example: play/stop - tap left next - 2 tap left prev - 3 tap left volume up/down - long press left / right NC on/off - 3 tap right ambient sound - 2 tap right
No, you can only choose out of sets of commands. Eg you can set volume controls on one side and playback on the other but you can't do custom mix and match
"passive ANC" passive active noise cancelling... no. The correct terminology is passive noise isolation. ISOLATION. The foam eartips are not cancelling any noise, they isolate the ear from the outside world.
Why the right and left earbud not similar battery percentages??Does the battery have any issues because right side get lower battery percentage compare to left side when using..
The foam tips are horrible and hurt in my ear canals, the earbuds however are amazing. Once I got external silicone tips they fit well and didn't hurt anymore.
I’m on the same journey. I’ve had them for maybe a couple of months pretty much lying in a drawer the whole time because I just couldn’t get on with the foam tips after spending the first week switching between small and medium tip sizes and either getting a rubbish seal on the S or finding them really difficult and time consuming to insert with the M size. It only occurred to me to get replacement silicone tips a few days ago after watching another review. I now have some Final Audio tips on the way so I really hope that will rescue the whole experience for me because once I finally do get them securely into my ears they do sound great.
@@julianfp1952 Definitely pressing my thumbs for you 🍀 the ones I use are called Azla Xelastec and they fit perfectly, so if the Final Audio ones don't you could just try those
Not that I require multi point pairing, but is why Sony could not use it? This is the only place I've seen with such description regarding its lack of multi pairing capabilities. I still see many complaints on the XM4's stability, especially on the LDAC, though it is generally known to be the more stable ones, just still not perfect. The Technics EAH-AZ60 I hear have better stability, and they offer multipoint pairing.
What are you talking about? Have you ever tested the Sony wh1000xm4 and compared it to the xm3? ANC worse, wearing comfort worse, background noise suddenly present, no more aptX etc ..etc. The main criteria have gotten worse. And that although there was already a software update. It is a shame
Honestly the nameing scheme is great. Wf means wireless and in ear. The number tells where in the range it stands. And xmnumber tells the generation. Every other scheme either carries less information and requires googling to tell you where in the range it stands or just straight up doesn’t work if you have more than 2 devices in a category.

Do they fit in your ears and stay in with no issues for working out and lots of movement?
They are pretty secure. For me they stay in just fine. I guess it depends on individual.
@@WhatGear Thank you
I did need to know exactly what that small pocket in my Levi jeans is for. Thanks for that 😂
yep I have one of those watches still, just wished it still worked.
That was to funny 😄
Just ordered up a set, looking forward to receiving them. Thanks for the informative review.
Let me know what you think of them when they arrive
This video helped me make my mind up! I have the on ear XM4’s wanted some earbuds too had pros before so decided to go with these! Amazing sound case is a lot smaller than images show
Thanks for the great review. I am in the market for a new pair and was wondering when the next version will be available. I just don't want to get this pair and a month later a new gen comes out.
The Lobot cuts are hilarious!
Lol 🤣 a bit of a star wars deep cut
Can you use LDAC and EQ simultaneously? It might sound like a dumb question but my WH-1000XM3 can't do both at the same time and I feel like it is a huge miss by Sony.
Yes you can
yep. use it everyday
Thanks, i learned at least 2 more things about them i did not know before.
That's awesome... What were they?
@@WhatGear yeah sure, why not.
1rst) the case is small enough to get into the condom pocket, i did not think it would, so that s a huge improvement.
2nd) the google find my device app...strangely i could not find my wf-1000xm3 on it yet...but i believe the XM3 have google fast pairing too.
@@JoeGillian0 Condon pocket 🤣
@@ARes13FOX really😁😃😃😃
Wow that's embarassing 😅😅
I found it was strange to be honest but that s what i thought i heard...thanks for correcting...now i have to look what "condon" means
Edit : ah well ok....it is indeed condom after all, yeah thought you were making fun of me...my bad...
Good review but, I love that "we are the robot" sound track!😂
man try comfobuds pro, i littery put my sony's back on my bag today when i tried the comfobuds pro. i bought them spot on today.. goodness.. even my brother who has airpads pro got demoralized... sound quality, anc and especially phone calls, dang...
No need to improve the naming. Keep going with the naming strategy SONY. I am aware of WH and WF. 😂
What about WTF lol
Honestly I like the name it makes it sound heavy duty
@@kenjiburnwave Are you seriously that much of a fanboy that you think we shouldn't critique confusing naming schemes of a large company?
I'm fine with the naming for the most part, but I would suggest they go with WH and WE (headphone/Earbud).
@@kenjiburnwave Not complaining, I actually don't even minds sonys naming scheme too much even though I see it could be better as well. Just saying that no big company deserves any more respect than us giving then money when they happen to make the best products. I bought the sony wf-1000xm4's because they are the best buds for me personally, I did not buy them because they are made by sony or because of their name. I don't care about the brand, I care about the product.
Getting Dallas, TX. Where do I find the link comparing the recordings comparing mics from XM3 vs XM4?
Great video and thanks for the EQ setup tips. What music player app did you use for listening to music? Did you also adjust the EQ on that app?
Tidal
tidal should be the only one with these earbuds. it just makes it more magical. especially when you start listening to masters
Because your two ears might differ anatomically...
It would be a nightmare name for Japanese.
Nah, mark 4 is decent enough
I currently have jabra elite 75t. Contemplating buiying the 1000xm4; do you know if the quality difference in terms of sound is worth the upgrade?
Have you switch from Jabra Elite 75t to XM4. Which one you prefer?
A successful SONY product ❤
I have to agree
I love Sony.
Yes! I rarely use my other buds
I got these pair of earbuds a day ago and i find that even with the ANC feature turned on, i am able to hear the noise from the outside world, such as let's say the sound from the television across the room, are my earbuds defective?
great review btw, very entertaining. you definitly deserve a lot more subscribers.
definitly gonna watch the movie " a quiet place"
cheers
1 & 2 are very good films
How is the Bass in XM4 in comparison to WF-SP800N?
Thanks for eq! Electric guitar is now way better to listen to but for someone with heavy metal taste I would skip these cuz there is not enough bass. Other things on headphones are good.
With the find my device feature, can you also locate the case or is it only for locating the buds?
Does Sony 1000XM4 has air equalization that AirPods Pro has? Do you feel pressure inside your ears when chewing and feeling of head fullness. That’s the one reason that kept me with AirPods Pro.
Nope. But they have better noise canceling/battery/sound than the premium you pay for Apples …..ugh ugh “Pro” product lol
Better hold the Airpods the Sony are ugly buds and heavy en 360 Audi is not free
Listing to my WF-XB700
They are also very awesome 😌
@@WhatGear They are excellent sound but if you do any running or cardio, they fall out of your ears extremely easily. Had to buy a Bose Sports for activities!
Which song do you play when the subscribe request pops up in the video ?
wavelet eq has more bands, so im using that one now.
I just bought these and my jaybirds vista have a way better sound quality. Is everyone going crazy? Definitely not worth the price. Thanks for the video
it's seems I can't make the ANC works properly or at all
I got Jabra 75th Elite for a year and a half and I told myself let's move to something else, so I went on this Sony earsbuds.
I figure out that I spend money for nothing cause' they're so quite, like you placing your hands on them to avoid the sound form coming out form the earsbuds.
I'm using Jabra 75t, I can wait to change it for these, but buy those Sony at that price is.for me a madness. So I can wait calmly
Patience, these will come down :D
Are the XM4 better sounding that the SENNHEISER Momentum True Wireless 2 ?
Can I use all options thru taps and touches? like play/stop, next/prev, volume +/-, NC on/off, ambient sound
so for example:
play/stop - tap left
next - 2 tap left
prev - 3 tap left
volume up/down - long press left / right
NC on/off - 3 tap right
ambient sound - 2 tap right
No, you can only choose out of sets of commands. Eg you can set volume controls on one side and playback on the other but you can't do custom mix and match
@@francoismurrell4604 ok, thanks
The Rock/Indie EQ is nearly the same I use on the XM4 headphones.
Best review iv seen very much appreciate..
@@julianfp1952 Definitely pressing my thumbs for you 🍀 the ones I use are called Azla Xelastec and they fit perfectly, so if the Final Audio ones don't you could just try those
@@Sincerity1993 thanks for the recommendation, have just ordered these Azla tips for my new wf-xm4 and hoping for a little better bass with them too.
@@hulkhogan9450 You're welcome, let me know how you like them :)
Can you connect to 2 mobiles... work and personal?
Not that I require multi point pairing, but is why Sony could not use it? This is the only place I've seen with such description regarding its lack of multi pairing capabilities. I still see many complaints on the XM4's stability, especially on the LDAC, though it is generally known to be the more stable ones, just still not perfect. The Technics EAH-AZ60 I hear have better stability, and they offer multipoint pairing.
Excellent review. I have the xm3 but im going to buy the xm4
Another fantastic video mate 👍👍👍
I love my 3's . They are bulletproof . I want the new ones though
After two years mine finally got a splash of.water on them.and broke. Ordered the x4s
@@Primer9 that sucks . Like a dummy mine went to the laundromat and I lost the case . In my own house . Shoot me please
@@jamestorres5582 i got th x4s, they are a more snug fit. cant tell much difference tho. oh yeah they connect to the phone/laptop much faster than the x3s
Question is... are these better than the bose QuietComfort Earbuds? I'm in the market for quality earbuds
we can't edit the name of the eq settings right? like the manual/ custom 1/ custom 2 be changed to a different name/ RENAME? thank uuuuu
Is LDAC only valid for android phones, can we use it on iphone too?
Negative. No LDAC for iphone last I have heard.
I'm considering between this and the Sennheiser MTW2 mainly for phone calls (and a bit of TH-cam) for my dad. For his birthday. Which one is better? I saw some other videos where the XM4 call quality seems to be not as clear as the Sennheiser. Appreciate your urgent input. Thanks!
bose qc earbuds if ur focus is phone call and anc. for video would be xm4s
People forget to mention the spacial experience of these buds. You really don't feel you're wearing buds, it's like you're in the place where the sound is coming. Yes, there's slight issues with comfort and fit, but you'll get used to it.
Grate review thank you
Can you give me setting for all in one for normal lisner like me
Can you use them on ps5 and can you hear the direction of the footsteps?
5:55 - Exactly I was thinking the same
