Wonderful tutorial AND French seam technique! Thanks for sharing your talent every week! I just love how cute you look in your beautiful robe!!! I really do love your channel!
You're welcome! 😊 I'm thrilled to hear you're enjoying my channel. Your kind words mean a lot. I'll keep sharing and spreading positivity. Happy sewing and thank you for your support! 💜
Your channel is bringing me things I need in my life: creativity and the knowledge to use it well. Thank you Christine!!❤. I feel a binge watch session coming on!😊
Lovely and so love using the vintage material. I was thinking that the pattern you used could also double as a shirt/top. Put a snap closure and shorten it. Nice cool breezy top for summer. Big Hugs
My mom called those squares “card table” clothes. They usually had matching napkins. Bridge clubs maybe? Probably not very good for actually playing cards. 🙂 Beautiful idea. Thanks
I really like this and am going to try it, using some of my inherited tablecloths! Perhaps someday you will have an idea for pyjamas -- pants, shorts, or top? Glad to have found your channel.
Christine, the robe is lovely and the de-bulking is clever. I think we've all had an unsightly "joint" when making French seams and not only are they ugly, they can be uncomfortable. I love that Van Dam top on you! I thought it might not look right on me due to my super size chest/breast combo but after seeing how beautifully it hangs I may change my mind. Is your fabric a challis?
Hi Charlotte!! I'm so sorry for my late reply! Yes, that fabric is a challis, it's a viscose that I found locally, I bought the last bit they had, I just loved the bright colors. It really is very comfortable to wear and swishes around nicely :-)
Very nice and this is a good solution to a common problem. But I'm not clear on one thing. Why is there a 1/4" difference between the side/underarm edge and the French seam where the sleeve was attached? Was the whole garment cut out with the assumption of a 1/2" seam? If so, then I understand.
Hi Susan! Yes, you could assume all the seam allowances were 1/2 for clarity. I only used a 1/2 inch on the sleeve part because you have to cut away that small amount and so I compensated for that by using a 1/2" seam allowance. Hope that makes sense...💜

I'm so glad it inspired you Lynda! I think it's great to use the things we have rather than have them sitting in a linen closet :-)
