I didn't notice any sparks. I enjoy lump but cautious because of embers sparking up. I've used Quebracho lump from another vendor and it did not spark. Seems this is the same.
I have 3 videos shot. One on Prime 6, and another like it. And an unboxing video on a new Thermoworks product. I’m using my vacation to get them out. So busy with competition this summer, but good stuff is coming!
Normally the hot spot is a larger coal. As they sit closer to the grill grates that’s what I’ve noticed. Thanks for watching and taking the time to add your comments!
I bought a bag today at my local Academy in Port Arthur,Southeast,Texas. I've never used lump before. Before I forget I'm a amateur smoker. I have a Masterbuilt gravity fed 1050. The bag says its a blend but I can't find what other wood is in the bag to make it a blend. So on that note is blend a leading word meaning is it just the one Argentina wood? Is it good to smoke alone? Thank you for your videos they really do help. Im an oak smoker fyi.
@@FLYINGSMOKE 2 chutes with 6 added oak wood chunks in the chute 275 degrees for 9 hours. IMHO the lump definitely made the chunks smoke more with the extra heat they put out. I was satisfied.
Love this channel! I’ve mostly cooked on a Weber gas grill for the past 20 years. I went to fire it up this season and it wouldn’t start. I have an old Weber 22” and decided I would use it until I picked which grill to buy next. Based on watching Flying Smoke I’ve purchased grill grates, welding gloves, thermometer, jaccard and about to purchase a new PKTX grill lol! Keep the videos coming! You hooked me on a new way to cook and it is so much fun! The flatiron steak recipe is awesome!
So which one would you prefer between B&B Texas XL and Jealous Devil? Or even FOGO? JD and FOGO are pretty clean and long lasting as well or do you think it's just personal preference?
@@FLYINGSMOKE Yeah FOGO is really good, the only main difference I can see btw it and normal B&B is that it lights a little easier in my PBC, but both are extremely clean. Let me ask, did you notice Jealous Devil has an odd flavor on some foods? Took me a second to get use to it.
FLYING SMOKE Well, at least we have a lot of time for barbecuing. :) By the way, it seems to me that those giant hunks of charcoal would be undesirable. Wouldn’t smaller pieces be better to even out the pit/grill temp and better control the burn?
@@FLYINGSMOKE Cool, I've read it's the same recipe they make for Weber's briquettes. Royal Oak has so many different briquette products, it can be confusing lol.
Just used B&B oak, pecan and cherry competition blend pellets this last weekend. Extremely happy with the flavor imparted and temperature consistency. Great product.
I live in Centerville Tn, the B &B website says Academy Sports, but I didn't see it there. Oh yeah, I am looking forward to seeing a video of 1 of your competition.
It’s in Memphis. I can’t wait either. I have been working weekends some nice October for a coworker who is out for health issues. But I’ll get back out there soon
I'm new to your channel and loving it. Please put more videos, saying hi from NYC. Oh on another note.. we dont have b&b.. over on this side ..😥 we have kingford royal etc. I cant wait to get more tips and reviews from your channel
Hey Flying Smoke you gotta try Original Natural Charcoal they have Lump Charcoal and briquettes can get them on amazon try them out it’s what I use lights the fastest and gets wicked hot wicked fast little pricey but try it out once you’ll be glad you did trust using it for years
I really like this video. I was an novice about grilling before watching and subscribing to the Flying Smoke. After the review of B&B Charcoal Competition Char-Logs, I decided to buy a 30 pound bag myself of that same product. You really make grilling sound interesting.
I'm getting a new grill her in the next few weeks. It will be one of the new gravity grill from Masterbuilt. I could use some advice on what products to use for fuel. I can get most types as I live in north TX. I seem to see a lot of folks that like B&B I wonder whether briquettes or lump is better. Especially for flavor. Your input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Charcoal briquettes are good for maintaining a consistent temperature for long periods of time but not so much for flavor. Use a combo of lump and briquettes. B&B is always good. Academy has a good selection of many fuel sources.
@@jowgasoulja from where I live the nearest place that had it was a 100 miles from me so I'll keep looking for a place closer to me and let you know how it goes thanks for asking.
Excellent video, pricing it out, B&B has the best price so far compared to J.D. and FOGO. Get them to do a Memorial Day promo and I will order some. I'm sure they are monitoring the responses. LOL It would be nice if they had larger bags available at a slight discount.
give Frontier lump a try afterwards, I think B&B gives off a awful smell when burning and it's not a clean burning lump like Frontier. I compared them and you will find out that there are some good cheap lumps out there. Believe it or not but Wallmart makes a decent lump charcoal, it burns pretty good ands it's cheap. it's a also good for cleaning your Kamado Joe grill. if you have a Kamado look up smoking Dad BBQ , he's pretty amazing also. good luck..
Why cut the bag open instead of pulling the string to open? That what it’s there for.
To be honest, I keep my finger nail very short. It’s a thing, just to keep my hand clean. Cutting is faster
My favorite clean buring lump charcoal is Frontier, It burns hot !
give that a try everyone

I think we should compare this agt something likevb and b normal lump. What do you think

Thank you for educating us. It shows not all charcoal are the same.
That’s the crazy thing and the reason I started this channel
I always enjoy your content. I placed an order of B&B Charcoal because of you. I'm excited to try it out. Like the fact smoke is managed.

I would like to see a head to head between B&B briquettes and Royal Oak briquettes
On it
One year later and we’re still not back to normal. I like bbqing with lump charcoal too.

Try to review Weber briquettes 👍
I have a bag. Just need more hours in the day to get to it. But they are on my todo list

Right now. B&B. It seemed cleaner and is WAY cheaper!
I have not tried FOGO
I liked it bought a bag last week at academy for 27 bucks which isnt bad for what it is

I don’t remember that. I do remember they were dirty and my hands covered in soot
