@yahcrack Ok you finally addressed it. Good job. Now can you actually prove how Ryan Williams isn’t better? Something that’s not just based on your opinion?
Yes, we wanted Ryan Day fired for losing to Michigan for a fourth time. And yes, some of us overreacted as said that Ohio State shouldn't even be in the playoffs for having lost to Michigan. However, with the way they played against Tennessee and then again against Oregon, and as we move past the questions of "why didn't they play like this all year?" "why did they play down to their opponents all year?" Ryan Day will buy himself more time if he can get the boys to win the natty. But, if Day's Buckeyes lose to Michigan a 5th straight year, the calls to fire him will get louder despite what his overall record is.
Thank you for a sensible and realistic analysis. As for next year, Day will have quite the challenge replacing all those senior starters, so who knows what they'll look like.

As a huge buckeye fan… would I rather have a national championship over a Michigan win, yes. However, all we have heard from Ryan day all year was their 3 goals for the season were to beat Michigan, win the big ten championship and a national title. When we lost to Michigan 2 of the 3 goals were taken from us. After that game the feeling around the fan base was if we can’t win that game how is the playoffs going to look? On top of that the talent gap this year is as wide as it ever will be. If not this year then when? So yes that loss hit hard. Coach day can absolutely still redeem himself with a national title because in my mind if he can beat all the best teams then he can certainly beat Michigan and just toss it up as a mental block for this senior class.
If you don't understand Ohio St VS Michigan then it cannot be explained to you. And none of us fans care if you figure it out... Or not. It's just THAT GOD DAMNED IMPORTANT.

OSU has a history of letting go coaches who can't beat Michigan and embracing coaches who do beat Michigan. If it weren't for the extenuating circumstances (those aged well) that pushed Jim Tressel out, he might still be the HC.
…..switch to Tressel and than Urban Meyer!
OSU's last title was only 10 years ago. This is still the 2024 season.
Molly has to be thinking about J. Rose when it comes to Michigan. That's wild 😂. Good games this year.
Jeremiah Smith is special
They said the same thing about Ryan Williams. There can only be 1 best WR in football. And yall change your opinions every other week 😂😂😂
@ man Jeremiah Smith is special. You’ll see when they steamroll y’all
@yahcrack try actually addressing what I said next time you reply to me
@@Jonmt155 address what? Ryan Williams isn’t better. Neither is Luther Burden, Travis Hunter or Tetairoa McMillan
@yahcrack Ok you finally addressed it. Good job. Now can you actually prove how Ryan Williams isn’t better? Something that’s not just based on your opinion?
It was a mistake by the NCAA Oregon does not belong in the Big Ten Conference they should have stayed at the PAC 12
the ncaa had no power over that
@ That’s BS they knew what they did that’s unacceptable
Why do you say that?
They won the big ten championship and beat 3 top 10 teams in fact one was in the top 3. To say they don’t belong is crazy.
Did they not win the conference?🤣🤣
I'm from Michigan and people do not truly understand this rivalry when Jim Harbough came here it wasn't hey let's win a national championship it was hey we need you to beat Ohio State
OSU fan here I think it’ll be a close game forsure I respect Texas
Texas ain’t Oregon first of all and there defense is better . Texas wins hookem
You gonna hate life after you guys get blow out, too. We played a significantly harder season than Texas and won the B1G in our first year. Texas had zero top 25 wins, and Oregon beat 3 playoffs teams. Go Ohio state from a Duck fan
That same defense that one dimensional ASU put 31 on? Ohio State isn’t ASU
@@Boostergold03I don’t really know many Texas fans but now that they’ve made it this far I’ve seen so many and they are delusional. Oregon would smack Texas idc. Like you said Texas had zero top 25 wins and the only decent team they played they lost to twice and calling Georgia decent is being nice
I think Ryan Day just said screw it, let's just go win it all.
Steven A. Smith is the best. It doesn't matter what point he's making -- his delivery is the best. He and SVP are the main reasons to tune in to ESPN these days. Pat McAfee is pretty entertaining -- and Nick Saban is The Man -- on College Gameday, as well. But ESPN isn't what it used to be -- and if you check out how many "Views" they have every day, FS1's "First Things First" with Nick Wright, Chris Broussard, and Kevin Wildes has been racking up the wins. If they lose Steven A. -- and Pat McAfee goes solo again -- the sun will set on ESPN.
Them Texas defense prbly got something to say😭😭
@@Thatheathennerd I hope Texas gets to beat Ohio State and Quinn Ewers should get his revenge against his former school before facing Penn State for the championship
As someone from Ohio and an Ohio State fan. I'm with Stephen that we don't want to hear about "would you rather". We expect both, we know how good our team can be and we've seen them play well below their potential too often. Even in the playoffs so far they've still fallen short. This team at its best can beat all other teams 70-0 if they play at their peak for 4 quarters.
These analysts, who've never played one down of football, stay trying to tell former NFL players about football. 🤷♂️
Alabama, Ohio State and Georgia are the only teams that are expected to always win or challenge for a championship, no other teams have that pressure year by year
Yes and if Ryan day don't win the natty he STILL. Should be fired...
@aaronclay4665 He won't be fired, and he shouldn't be fired. Who out there is better than Ryan Day?
Because other teams don't spend 20million dollars to try getting easy titles like Ohio st
I love when people who know less, argue with people who know more.
4:46 man Stephen A on one😂😂😂
this is proof that rivalry games have been devalued since there’s a expanded playoff. if there was a four team playoff, they would be eliminated. if there was a eight team playoff, they would be on the brink of elimination
ohio state fans being hilarious saying oh the game doesn’t matter. but guarantee you y’all boast about the game being the best rivalry in college sports. so quit lying to yourself.
Never said that. I hate losing to UofM. Im gonna complain about losing in the biggest rivalry in sport (a lot), but I’m gonna be happy when we beat the no. 1 team by 20. I’m not gonna stare at my tv and complain about Donkey Kong smashing Oregon because we lost to UofM.
watch Ohio state fans say the game doesn’t matter 🤔
How does nfl playoff work how many teams in? How about ncaa basketball march madness bracket with 60 some teams in or the nba playoffs?? That’s what makes it great who goin show up…guess who did …BUCKEYES!!!! And yes they have the best rivalry game with Michigan….keep hating bud cause your pretty much saying there are no rivalry in sports due to the playoff for championship
You’re right. Rivalry games are worth so much less now. The regular season wins and losses carry little weight now. If Michigan or OSU want to gloat about regular season wins its almost pointless now
@@landowitdabeard3651 to be fair, the game didn’t matter this year. OSU lost and still made the playoffs, Michigan won and missed the playoffs. If that’s not the definition of not mattering then I don’t know what is. It had 0 effect on this season, flip the results of the game and we’re in the same exact situation post season
For all the Ohio State fans out there, if a loss to Michigan is what it takes to rediscover yourselves and unlock your true potential, then I believe it's worth it.
As an Ohio State fan, the only thing better than a nation championship is beating Michigan and winning a national Championship.
Stephen A hasn't actually watched a game in at least 10 years
He knows exactly what he talking bout fact don’t lie
@MarkTravis-pu5mh that's literally not a fact. That is your OPINION. And if you don't know the difference between a fact and an opinion then your opinion is not worth considering
I would rather Ohio State have beaten Michigan that is why our rivalry is so much heads and above every other rivalry.
You can very easily tell what school does not have a real rivalry game when they say the OSU Michigan game does not matter. You have one game a year that you must win on the schedule no matter what and that is against the other team and if it doesn't happen your fans are going to lambadt you.
Auburn and Alabama is a "real" rivalry. Get out of here. Natty or bust, bub
I get it. A national championship is a huge badge of honor. If that happens for the Buckeyes as a fan I’m so proud. But if you can’t beat our rival next season I think it’s time to part ways Coach Day
“Zach Wilson was drafted number 2 for crying out loud “ 😂 stephen a is correct , can’t even argue with that point.
I think that guy would go no. Two behind a QB. But he's better than a QB
I love how michigan lives in peoples' minds rent free. 8-5 team with a walk on cancer suvivor at QB after going through every QB on the roster, 1st year head coach, depleted O line and secondary.......BUT one of the most talented D lines youll see. Id like to see OSU at least make it to the final, makes the michigan win even more legit.
Yes the Michigan game matters, it won’t ever NOT matter. But fans MOVED ON and the media needs to as well
Stephen is right concerning NFL Owners.
Even if osu wins the natty Michigan loss still on their minds. Losing a lot of starters and coming to the Big House 5 in a row. Go Blue SMASH!
If you don't understand Ohio St VS Michigan then it cannot be explained to you. And none of us fans care if you figure it out... Or not. It's just THAT GOD DAMNED IMPORTANT.
He was wrong about Smiths draft position with Maye needing a weapon, but right about the rivalry. If you aren’t apart of the rivalry, you don’t get it. It isn’t a loss the Michigan, it’s the 4th loss in a row against Michigans worst team they’ve fielded in years.
What is with this phrase, “boat raced” where tf did that come from?
I thought I was the only one who caught that lol
Stephen A should never talk College football.
No one is gonna boat race anyone, another classic is upcoming
How Ryan Russo has a job is beyond me. He’s so annoying, espn went from having genuine analysts and being a hub of sports media to being garbage.
SAS trying to double down bc Ryan Day has made him look like a jack as. Dam just 🤐and give the man his props. His team has looked by far more prepared to play than any other team and has completely dominated easily the toughest competition of anyone in the playoff has had to face.
Nope. Bucks fan my whole life if he does not win they natty day should still be fired....
Osu gives hom way to much for him to keep failing
I mean he is right. There is no way we should’ve lost to Michigan with that talent, let alone score 10 points
@ Yeah you’re right, he was right. But he didn’t have to put him on blast. And he looks like a jack as for doing so bc now Ryan Day looks like the best coach in college football at this present moment and is only one win away from playing in the championship.
I am an Ohioan and diehard Ohio State fan, beating the team up North MATTERS!!! It's not about which one would you we rather have Doggy, it's win both (Beat the team up North and win the Chip). Doggy, you aren't from Ohio, It's an Ohio thing, you wouldn't understand. I was ready to drive Ryan Day and Chip Kelly to the airport after that Michigan game. Bottom line, Ryan Day better win the Chip this year PERIOD!!!!
The game between the Wolverines and BUCKEYES in November is a great Rivaly that will ALWAYS matter...
The Natty ' is important.....The GAME is important......ITS that CRUCIAL & always will be...that Michigan loss still hurts....😢
Always an over reaction on the way Texas and OSU looked yesterday Every game is different
Is this the Real Housewives of ESPN?
I honestly don’t think there’s a legit starting NFL quarterback in the draft this year.
I’m taking Jeremiah Smith and Travis Hunter over any qb in this year’s draft. I’ll wait until their are better qb’s available in the future.
Just because you yell the loudest, does not make you correct. Yelling over people is a sign of no confidence.
3 goals at Ohio State,,, 1 beat Xichigan, 2 win the big10 title, 3 win national championship,,, anything other than that is a failure
And for the last 3 seasons, Ryan Day has failed all of these objectives. This season, he has failed 2/3. He needs to win the title ti save his job
@ The only thing I can give Day a pass for is the xichigan games from 21-23, hard to win when they know your plays ahead of time which is why they’re about to get hit with sanctions, their 30 day extension for the notice of allegations should be expiring soon
@@squidward06I’d argue give him a pass this year
All the seniors they have this year they shouldn’t have and only do have bc they broke covid protocols to get them
Until those seniors are out the team is tainted
@ Ohio State!?
@@squidward06 no Michigan cheated to get players 4 years ago breaking covid guidelines and now those players they cheated to get are seniors and they shouldn’t have them now
Next year the slate will be clean unless they have 5th year guys
Steve Smith knows how OSU fans really feel. Day was in major jeopardy until the Oregon win. And unless he wins a title this year, if he loses to Michigan again next year, he'll be done. Fans won't want him anymore.
Same was said about Ryan Williams but, since he is not in the final four.
Stephen A. Doesn't even know football
It def matters. Bc even if they win it all this year, michigan still beat the champs.
“I’m not saying you’re wrong, but here’s where you’re wrong.” - Stephen A. Smith
Espn, what an idiotic question. Yes they do!!
But in the biggest twist of irony, the coaches got the embarrassment of a lifetime w gameplan against scUM, then heard from the players, Day took his hands off the wheel, gave it to Chip to feed the best player in the country, and, VOILA!🤦♂️
Bold statement here...I think Day has FINALLY been changed for the better with the loss against scUM.
Stephen A is the uncle that annoys everybody at the BBQ
This reminds me when the media were convinced that Ohio State would blow out Florida in the national championship about 10 years ago. How’d that turn out? 😂 It could go either way.
I wish Dan woulda just said “every gm in the world is taking Smith over Cam Ward and Sheduer”… cause they would lmao. The Giants, raiders, browns.. whatever QB needy team would still take Smith. Cam and Shedeur aren’t worth top 10 picks, they should be mid to late 1st round picks
Mad Dog is the one who needs to let it go.
Remember when they said the same exact thing last year when Texas was going to play Alabama in Alabama? Literally no one gave Texas a shot and they won. Texas may lose, OSU may lose. We will see.
It's all they think about... Michigan lives rent free in their head.
A certain faction of buckeye fans would rather beat Michigan than win the national championship. Beating Michigan IS the championship.
As an OSU fan I would rather go 1-11 as long as that 1 is against ❌ichigan. Ryan Day is doing what he’s supposed to do, win games. If he can’t win The Game then he’ll go the way of John Cooper. It’s that simple.
That Smith young man from Ohio State, maybe the most talented WR I have seen in College since Calvin Johnson. He would be the 1st pick in this year draft.
if Day doesn't coach this OSU squad to a title, yes he has to go. The Game still matters. the loss to ttun still matters... and the only number one pick that isn't a QB this year is Hunter. Smith is amazing, but he's not holding the weight of what Hunter can do for every team... thanks and continue on.. the fact that Mad Dog doesn't understand a real rivalry, further let's us know that other conferences don't have real rivalries.. they're rivalry in name alone. The Game, there's always a fight. that day produces hate amongst schools. sincerely an OSU alum
Absolutely. I think he earned another year with these blowouts. A natty would feel good, but he still needs to beat Michigan.
Winning the Championship is not the same when you lose to your rival in the same season, especially when you are favored to win like Ohio State was. Real fans get and understand that!
Alabama doesn't care that they lost to Auburn before some of their championships. Championships are the ultimate goal, and every team agreed to that
If New England or Carolina was picking first, they would run Jeremiah Smith's name to the podium.
I would rather beat Michigan and lose every other game
How does Stephen A. Have a job?
I normally don't care for SAS's way of communicating, nor even the majority of his takes, but he is spot on with this one....front offices will trip over themselves to make stupid draft choices every day of the week.
Stephen A just likes to argue. He must be a real pleasure at parties.
Who cares, they didn't beat michigan
I think people are getting tired of the ESPN screaming talking head. Esp, when they don’t know what their talking about. Beating, or losing to, Michigan matters. It always will.
