Sie klingen atmosphärisch, düster und lakonisch, aber gleichzeitig hoffnungsvoll und hochromantisch: die Songs der norwegischen Band Madrugada. Ihr Sänger Sivert Høyem ist auch als Solokünstler erfolgreich unterwegs und ein Star in Skandinavien.
1993 im nordnorwegischen Stokmarknes gegründet, gehören Madrugada spätestens in den frühen Nullerjahren zu den erfolgreichsten Bands ihrer Heimat und gewinnt mehrmals den renommierten norwegischen Grammy, den "Spellemannprisen". Mit ihren düster-atmosphärischen Songs, vorgetragen vom betörenden Bassbariton ihres charismatischen Frontmanns Sivert Høyem, erinnern sie an Leonard Cohen, The Velvet Underground, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds oder Shoegaze-Bands wie Jesus And Mary Chain. Madrugada, deren Bandname so viel wie "früher Morgen" auf Spanisch und Portugiesisch bedeutet, haben nach kurzer Zeit auch große Fangemeinden in Deutschland und Griechenland und touren durch ganz Europa.
2007 wird Gründungsmitglied und Gitarrist Robert Burås mit 31 Jahren tot in seiner Wohnung in Oslo aufgefunden. Die Band entscheidet, sich aufzulösen und geht 2008 auf Abschiedstournee. Sivert Høyem gelingt es, später eine erfolgreiche Solokarriere aufzubauen. 2018 melden sich Madrugada überraschend mit der Nachricht zurück, dass sie 2019 gemeinsam mit ihrem ursprünglichen Schlagzeuger Jon Lauvland Pettersen wieder auf Tour gehen. In ganz Europa spielt die Band im Anschluss ausverkaufte Konzerte und feiert das 20-jährige Jubiläum ihres Debütalbums "Industrial Silence". Madrugada sind wieder da.

Maybe even in my dreams I would have not been able to imagine such a sound, and a voice that is almost the perfect mix between morrison and vedder.... seriously, what an amazing and fortunate finding, runing into this band today, tonight... thank you MADRUGADA for such a refreshing and yet nostalgic sound... every song has been a total delight. 😍🤩❤🔥
Exactly the same day I run into them by listening to a Portuguese radio... I was amazed! I've been obssessed since then... As some person wrote here, "Sivert's voice is out of this world!". Absolute delight, for sure.

I've been thinking the same thing for 20 years, if Madrugada was born in the UK or the US, the band would be one of the most popular rock bands in the world. But who cares where we are from, the talent is in Norway and the real music lovers know and love Madrugada. I hope to see you live before I die 🙏😉😛❤️🤟🎸🎶

Gestern war ich in Dresden zum Konzert bei Sivert. Zwei von den Gitarristen erkenne ich wieder. Yeah, tolle Musik. Kraftvoll, nuanciert, seine Stimme ist ein Traum.
wow!! i had no idea the band had gotten back together again - years after the break up. Sivert Hoyem, as always, with a voice like velvet.
I used to listen to Madrugada every day back when I was a teenager and had to go to school by bus. Was always the perfect sound for sitting in the back, seeing the rainy landscape passing by the window and dreaming or thinking about something. :)
Still one of my all time favourite bands.

Found this absolute fantastic band a few weeks ago by accident and I fell in love at once. I`m 47 and never heard of Madrugada so far. Shame on me and shame on the international radio stations. This band should be overwhelmed wit international music awards.

This is so amazing and beautiful! I stumbled onto them 7 yrs ago and been listening ever since. Industrial Silence is my favorite. That damn lead guitar is so dope. I absolutely love Siverts vocals...too damn sexy. This is feel good make me happy music!!!❣❣❣

Been listening to this guys for 25 years, since the start. I've seen them live a couple of times, including this tour, but the first time (2001, I think) was magical. Great band, it's great they're still around to give us these amazing shows! Hope to see them again soon!

Vocal could be my favorite song of my life. It's touching me to the core. And seeing them perform it as their first song of this concert is just the greatest gift. I love this band and their sound.

I've instantly fallen in love with Madrugada. It's just been days and already have their melodies stuck in my head (As though I've been heard them since forever!)...and I keep questioning myself that how could I have not heard such a legendary band like this earlier!? .. The immense vocals, each instrument has so much soul & artistry, the compositions, the lyrics, their stage presence live and the feel they give - all fuse together so wonderfully, so perfectly.. Eargasming, and i'm mind-blown... Hats off & wanna to listen to ALL your albums now!!

Ich hatte das unglaubliche Glück diese Band 3 mal in Deutschland/ NRW zu sehen 😍 zu hören und zu genießen. Einzigartige 👌🏻 Atmosphäre, die diese Band musikalisch mit ihrem grandiosen Sänger transportiert. Ich bin hin und her gerissen zwischen Traum, Melancholie und Tränen.

The sound is just… beyond words, here.
Technicians did such a GREAT job, drums mixed exactly as it should be, and the VOICE is NOT covered by anything (even if in fact, Sivert's voice would make its way through anything, anyway, it is kinda just like a Russian missile).
Thanks a LOT, that's why YT, even with all its flaws, is a GOOD side of modern times :)

What a voice, my god! Just run into them for the first time 3 days ago (in a playlist from a Portuguese broadcast) and was amazed by their sound and such a beautiful voice. "Ecstasy" was the song in that playlist and it took my breath away. This band was one of the BEST "discoveries" I made in the last four years. 💜💜💜 Isn't it good when this happens? 😉

If you have never heard of Sivert Høyem then you have not been digging deep enough my friend. Unknown? ... maybe in America but then again America has terrible taste in music.
In 90' walked into our local pub and somebody brought >>cassette tape>> with Industrial Silence album. 27+ years later (today) found Deluxe edition on YT. It has "B-sides and rarities from Industrial Silence" which I never heard.

Im norwegian and i remember the early days of madrugada when they played music festivals under the midnight sun in northern norway. We were kids then and it was the most beautiful innocent time, this is the soundtrack to those glorious days.

I discovered Madrugada after listening to Mark Lanegans song Bloodline. Madrugada’s song Honeybee was next and blew me away. Wow! Just wow!

Die spielen ihr Debütalbum komplett runter... wie geil ist das denn ??
Habe damals (um 1999/ 2000) eine positive Kritik in unserer Tageszeitung zum Debütalbum gelesen und mir das Album gekauft... war ein Volltreffer... es gab immer wieder Phasen, wo ich jahrelang keine Songs davon hörte, doch irgendwann komme ich wieder einmal darauf zurück...
Da liegt so eine bestimmte Dimension von melancholischer Schwere drüber, die man womöglich nur als Skandinavier so überzeugend in Musik übersetzen kann.
Alle anderen Alben von ihnen kenne ich ehrlich gar nicht, aber der Song "Majesty" aus ihrem Spätwerk ist für mich nochmal ein Meisterstück dieser Disziplin

"Vocal" is for me, the song that pink floyd never wrote...it could be in the dark side moon album.
Its very dificult what kind of music is Madrugada.
The lastest music is more dark and melhancolic.
"Its hard come back" is hard rock.
What a Blast, I am so glad they all feel good about Madrugada, It shows in the performance.
