      To be honest I think we should stop the boats.
      We've got to treat them with compassion and empathy, and respect their humanity, sure. Make sure they end up somewhere safe.
      But it costs so much to house them. And if they're here illegally then they can't pay tax.
      We've been in a housing crisis for a VERY long time, and it's only gotten worse with the Tories in power because they won't build new affordable housing.
      BUT, think about it in terms of supply and demand. More people coming in, more demand for housing.
      We don't really have enough housing for the people who are already here, which is why it's so expensive. And it's not fair that they're such a priority when it comes to getting a council house in comparison to all the people already here who've already been waiting for so long.
      And listen right, a lot of these people are the kindest most friendly people you will ever meet, but among illegal migrants there is also a higher proportion of crime relative to the general population.
      I don't like the Tories or Suella, but if I was a Labour politician I would definitely push that we do something about illegal migration rather than nothing.
      Just letting them all in is an INCREDIBLY stupid idea. "nono, see look at us, we're not racist, all of you come in. Land is land isn't it?" as if it just doesn't cause any problems. There is also that culture shock right? If there's less of them coming in, it will reduce that culture shock for the people already here, and it'll be a much easier load to deal with when it comes to helping the ones that do come in to settle in, and when they're settled in then you get much less crime and gang activity. And they'll be in legal employment, much less likely to get sucked into modern slavery, prostitution, and other forms of work where they'll be exploited.
      I'm not advocating for the approach the Tories are using, but it's really not an issue we should ignore. A lot of people care about it, there are a lot of genuine problems both for locals and those coming in, and that doesn't mean those British people that care about it are racist.
      Is it really so bad to say that we should stop letting so many illegals in, the ones we do let in we make sure they're on the system and paying tax, given some help to settle in but regardless are on equal footing to everyone else, and build up our infrastructure so the country can actually be equipped to handle this unprecedented rising population?
      Like at the same time as we need more nurses, we also have a VERY important duty to make sure that our already direly struggling NHS and our other public infrastructure can handle the volume of people it's dealing with

      @@L8Pl There's a very simple fact that you're missing: the UK is in this mess because they completely defunded the asylum application system. Properly vetting and assessing each applicant would result in far fewer people being stuck in limbo, costing the government lots of money. That would also result in helping real asylum seekers, and deporting economic migrants trying to abuse the system, because that's what an asylum application system is for.
      Also, I really really don't like to fall victim to godwin's law here, but I hope the fact that "land is land" and "living space" arguments are dangerously close to "lebensraum" is an accident.

What is going to happen in the next few decades when we have massive amounts of climate refugees that need help. Is West going to shrug and say sorry not our problem? @Dog boy Tell me, which law has been broken? United Kingdom is a party to the 1951 Convention. Article 31 of the convention states that Countries shall not impose penalties on refugees who entered illegally in search of asylum if they present themselves without delay. Therefore they are not illegal. They would become an "illegal immigrant" only if they do not present themselves to authorities. Look at the Australian government website "...Although those who come to Australia by boat seeking Australia’s protection are classified by Australian law to be ‘unlawful non-citizens’, they have a right to seek asylum under international law and not be penalised for their mode of entry..." Notice the specific avoidance of "illegal immigrant" as it is false under international law.
      If you went abroad without a passport etc, you could hand yourself over to authorities and claim "asylum". You would be processed, found wanting and deported. You are also covered by the same protections.

    • @freakygoblin3068
      @freakygoblin3068 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Dog boy Kill someone in self defense and it now no longer "murder" is more of an accurate comparison. I actually provide you what the actual law states and you ignore it. No law says nothing about "first safe country". If you think it does, please come up with the specific law rather than state simply what you believe through indoctrination. And there lies the problem, indoctrination rather than looking at the facts, just like the "you want" comment". Show me where I have stated I want anything of what you stated. Respect of laws, yes, workable and effective immigration legislation yes.

    • @freakygoblin3068
      @freakygoblin3068 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Dog boy Of course if your concern is costs, what does this piece of legislation do? Not process people who enter the country which means more money spent on hotels or detention, not less. Push for effective legislation, not one that simply tells you what you believe you want to hear because you are not actually listening properly.

    • @freakygoblin3068
      @freakygoblin3068 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Dog boy Ah social pressures.. we are talking 10's of thousands yet immigration is over a million. Let's only target the minority as a scapegoat shall we. Kind of destroys the argument it's about social pressure. Have you come up with that 1st safe country law yet?

    • @freakygoblin3068
      @freakygoblin3068 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Dog boy Funny how when you cannot provide fact based points you start personal attacks instead. Instead you attempt to make it them vs us. Here's a reality check. I know of nobody who wants uncontrolled immigration. I want effective immigration policies which work rather than the UK taxpayer paying for policies which are simply lip service. Now tell us.. how many people have been deported to Rwanda since the last piece of legislation which promised the same result using similar methods? Are you going to fall for the one next year as well or are you going to step back, look at the details and what the result will be? Are you actually going to simply believe what known, proven liars are telling you simply because you want it to be true?

    I've never seen such a duplicitous character. Somehow I think she's worse than Johnson. She knows she's lying, she's even using the arguments against her own position on her opposition in some perverse reverse psychology attempt. It's utter incredulous. She defunds the asylum process while simultaneously bleating on about stopping the boats. Does nothing to stop the boat a while blaming the opposition for not having a plan while hers has seen an increase to the amount of boats. It's totally nuts.
