Why are these companies taking down content that's literally available nowhere else? They should recognize the demand and release them physically or streaming, for profit.
Sometimes there is a licensing conflict like for old Muppets/Sesame Street is impossible to purchase complete sets of the show because there are musical segments that Jim Henson Productions doesn't actually have the rights to from guest artists. It's a real bummer I'd easily drop 200 on a complete set of either of them! Now why they don't let them exist hush-hush online and ignore them I have no idea.

While "lost media" itself will never stop being a topic, I wonder how much "less" of it will be around the streaming age. A lot of people aren't watching "typical" TV anymore and going to streaming services, which eliminates a lot of interesting commercials or channel-style-specific inserts. It seems modern "lost media" is more about a streaming service pulling an entire show, or at least one or more of its seasons. Also a much larger prevalence of video-capture-enabled people that might mitigate the "finality" that used to surround this much more commonly.
There's a bunch of shows being pulled off from streaming platforms. If no one preserves them, there's no physical media for them, since they're made with streaming in mind

It's definitely the Nick Drake Peel Session for me, as it emerged after over 40 years. The BBC long wiped it, and the only known person who had taped it off the radio had only recorded two songs. A decade or so ago an engineer from the time said he'd made his own copy of it, and there were 5 tracks rather than the 4 commonly reported. The family released it as a digital EP to tie in with the Remembered For A While book, as well as a limited 10" record.
For Batman vs Dracula it’s not a 100% but I’ll ask my family when they go up to the Philippines this December to look in my family’s movie collection for it and ask around for it. My family lives in the mountains so they have lots of tapes and dvds because cable and wifi is basically impossible unless you go to the city.

I don’t know if you have already covered this yet, but in the Vocaloid community there’s a lost media song called freesia. It was made by a producer named Dr.Willy and was his final song before deleting every song he made online. Apparently if I’m not wrong people have contacted him and he says he no longer has any of his songs as he deleted every one of them. 31 seconds of it have been found, but the real length of it is unknown. Really hope it gets found.

Wait the astrology segments with Squidward is lost media now? That's wild, I vividly remember watching that as a kid. I almost word for word remember how he explained what gemini represented.
I myself have been in the process of trying to fully collect the Seabert cartoon animated TV show. Only a couple tapes were ever released and the show does not exist anywhere in full or in one language. Most of what I could find was low-quality and recorded live TV.. Why? When I was a kid I brought the first 3 episodes to school for a year-end movie pizza party in class, the entire tape set would vanish from the school without explanation that day along with a collection of my best artwork. Since then I scoured the internet trying to recover that which time forgot.
LOST MEDIA FANS!: I’m trying to find a 29 minute short film directed by Richard Fleisher (Soylent Green, Fantastic Voyage). It’s titled Call From Space (1989) PLOT: World's first drama shot with the revolutionary Showscan (TM) process. the movie tells a journey through time which allows to approach styles as varied as romance, peplum, gangster film, historic war and science fiction. It stars Charlton Heston and I can’t find it anywhere! Please if someone could help figure out this mystery that would be amazing!
I really hope one day we can get the full song called "I Wish You Well" by Imagine Dragons. The only known recordings of it is a horrible-quality video of them singing it at a concert when Imaging Dragons was still considered indie and underground, and a snippet from the actual band. From what I've heard, it sounds like an amazing song and I really hope to hear it in full one day.
I wanna give an interesting fun fact regarding Astrology with Squidward. In The Patrick Show episode “Dr. Smart Science” they legit reference Astrology with Squidward by having Patrick pull out a full zodiac sign chart showing every symbol and characters or things to represent them. And they actually retain some of the original symbols from the AOS series as well as new ones for symbols that never got a short. Just like the original series, Patrick represents Taurus, Mr. Krabs represents Cancer, Plankton represents Leo, and SpongeBob represents Sagittarius. The doctor fish for Gemini are replaced by two anchovies and those two incidental fish for Pisces are replaced by double Realistic Fish Heads. As for the new symbols, Aries is represented by Squidward, Virgo is represented by Bubble Bass, Libra is represented by Bunny, Scorpio is represented by the Golden Throated Stinger, Capricorn is represented by a literal corn cob, and Aquarius is represented by the flowers SpongeBob gave Sandy. I just thought this was interesting cuz it gives an interesting idea on what the missing signs would be represented by.

As much as I'd like to keep the name lost media I think this would be a good change if it got people to stop calling privately shared media found
How to out yourself as a nerd:
Saying the name of a Pokémon instead of an astrological sign.
still so pumped about sesame street with the wicked witch being found :,)
I think the most unexpected find to ever happen would be the remaining 1,513 lost episodes of Captain Video being found.
We knew about the KH pilot WAY earlier than 2014. It was mentioned on old forums and sites when the V Cast game was new.
I think the shrek demo reels stuff was one of my favorite finds with all the behind the scenes stuff that we got about the first shrek with Chris Farley.
I remember being so confused when my mom was watching that episode full in high def. I was shocked it was found
What make the wicked witch Sesame Street episode so great knowing that that was available is that when they were promoting wicked Cynthia was on an episode prior to the current situation of Warner Brothers not renewing their contract
Strangely, I have vivid memories of seeing JBVO promos on Teletoon in Canada as a kid but never saw the full show actually air.
I know this is super vague but I feel like clips of JBVO were shown in commercials but the show never actually aired on Teletoon.
I don’t know what it is but I love the way you say “era”
I don’t know if you have already covered this yet, but in the Vocaloid community there’s a lost media song called freesia. It was made by a producer named Dr.Willy and was his final song before deleting every song he made online. Apparently if I’m not wrong people have contacted him and he says he no longer has any of his songs as he deleted every one of them. 31 seconds of it have been found, but the real length of it is unknown. Really hope it gets found.
16:49 I don’t know why you can still think like this. In 2024 so many lost media that were searched for decades and had a tremendous cultural relevance and impact has been found, including what might be the post internet holy grail: Subways on your mind.
The squidward series better be called the squidscopes
😂😂
Seeing these rare animal crossing ds’ are so cool!!
The astrology with squidward is insane, bc I remember watching these segments on tv with local dub (polish) around 2010-2012 when I was in elementary school. These segment were aired I feel like every commercial brake yet they were considered lost?? Insane.
How is he not talking about subways of your mind!?!?
Or Ulterior Motives, either one
@temp-sec or both
Always nice to end the day with a lssq vid
Very missed opportunity to include Like the Wind.
Tim Burton’s Hansel and Gretel
Jonathan Demme’s rough cut of Swing Shift
Bill Gunn’s Stop (1970), which WB refused to give a proper release to
i never knew there was kingdom hearts lost media
and i'm glad it's found :D
I'd really like to see a prototype of Chain of Memories appear one day. The earliest versions of the game seem very different and also included Deep Jungle which was totally scrubbed from the final game.
@@Tirgo69 yeah...
Yes,finally a new video! I'm so happy
Definitely not lost media, but I think the most mysterious song on the Internet/subways of your mind deserves some recognition for just being identified
I remember seeing astrology with squidward on tv as a kid
I was told that Bod Squad from TVO Kids may be in a TVO archive somewhere. The content cannot be released but they do have it. I wonder if it could get leaked the way that Sesame Street episode got leaked.
It's sad that the Internet Archive got hacked
Again!
If I watched JBVO, I would've called the myth to request an episode to be aired on the juvenile network.
Perfect watch for the seafood boil I just got
Shocked that no one's talking about the beatles' canceled yellow submarine successor Strawberry Fields...
Wait what? I’ve never heard of this what is it?
I seriously wonder why the AABP wanted to hide the wicked witch so bad and then got upset when it leaked online lmao
There are some topics I’m surprised you didn’t mention in this video but great video nonetheless.
My Top 5 picks for lost media I want to be found and available to watch: #5) More footage of FOX Family Channel from 1998-1999, #4) Nickelodeon’s “Nick-Bot Takes Over” Promo, #3) Noggin’s Sesame Street Unpaved on Nick at Nite’s TV Land, #2) More footage of Nickelodeon’s Noggin on Nick block, and #1) Nickelodeon’s Noggin “What Sparks You?” Special hosted by Bill Nye The Science Guy!❤️📺🎶👍🏻#Nickelodeon #FOXFamilyChannel #BringBack1999Noggin
Have you ever talked about the Oswald the octopus commercial where he is talking like Ozzy Ozborne and then it cuts to him playing iron man on the piano?
Wait the astrology segments with Squidward is lost media now? That's wild, I vividly remember watching that as a kid. I almost word for word remember how he explained what gemini represented.
you should make a video on lostwave now that the mysterious song is found
I myself have been in the process of trying to fully collect the Seabert cartoon animated TV show.
LOST MEDIA FANS!:
I’m trying to find a 29 minute short film directed by Richard Fleisher (Soylent Green, Fantastic Voyage). It’s titled Call From Space (1989)
PLOT:
World's first drama shot with the revolutionary Showscan (TM) process. the movie tells a journey through time which allows to approach styles as varied as romance, peplum, gangster film, historic war and science fiction.
It stars Charlton Heston and I can’t find it anywhere! Please if someone could help figure out this mystery that would be amazing!
The wicked witch of sesame street was the last thing I would expect to be found/archived
NOT THE SMOSH PIT LINK LMAO!!!!!!
crazy to think astrology with squidward was lost media, i actualy remember seeing them on TV as a kid.
i think its hilarious that the one website with a verifiable source link for the acww ds is fucking SMOSH 😭😭😭
I can't wait for me and my friends to be added to this list.
Love lost media ! It’s so interesting love your content !
Man, I had entirely forgotten about Rebel Taxi!
I just thought this was interesting cuz it gives an interesting idea on what the missing signs would be represented by.
well there is more lost 1980s Walt Disney cartoons that I know witch Is some but not a lot of them not yet but I am getting there soon also I am a bag fan of your youtube channel LSuperSonicQ
