WrestleMania III was in 1987. Andre was on crutches in 1991. He definitely had matches between those moments. There was a story I heard once that at one time on the family farm, one of Andre's brothers was trapped under a tractor. Being Andre, he was able to lift the tractor enough to get his brother out, possibly saving his life. Andre would occasionally recount that story and say that might be the reason he was given his massive body.
Fun fact. Andre was half Bulgarian, half Polish. One of the characters from the Street Fighter game series - Hugo Andore - is based on the image of Andre.
But when he was young he was insanly athletic despite his size. Capable of doing moonsaults of the top rope and land on his feet. Absolutely insane and I wish there was footage of it.
Andre became the first ever inductee into the WWE Hall of fame in 1993. His likeness is in the WWE headquarters as a 40 ft tall mural. Andre does have a daughter Robin Christensen who runs the André Roussimoff estate. The estate Handles all of Andre’s likeness’ licenses and the charity they established. Robin has been backstage at wrestlemania multiple times to help with the Andre the giant memorial battle royal as it bears her dad’s name. Robin is nothing like Andre as she is an average height woman although a bit rounder but she never really got into wrestling as she likes office work. She doesn’t know too much about her dad as they only met five times. Although stories are still told about him today. Jake the snake often regals Robin about the times they were on the road.
Bunnymon, Consider this: The Big Show had the same disorder as Andre the Giant. However, the Big Show had the surgery to remove the tumor. He has remained at the same height. His weight would increase & decrease over time. Andre's on-screen manager, Bobby "the Brain" Heenan, compared his condition to being similar to an airplane that had the engine of a Volkswagen. ----- One more thing about Andre is that he would often drink more than the other wrestlers combined, but HE was still the designated driver.
4:10 good question, and the answer is yes wrestler The Big Show was born with the same condition, and did have the tumor removed once he was passed was old enough.this meant he kept his height, was able to control his weight better, and also made his life expectance longer too. such a sad story for Andre. rest in peace. such a legend
When I was a kid I went to a wrestling show in Columbus, Ohio and I actually shook hands with Andre, Paul Orndorf and Ivan Putski. I also seen one of his cowboy boots in a glass case inside a shoe store and that thing was SO HUGE and remember it was a cowboy boot which came to a point at the tip which made it bigger!! Then the match between him and Terry “Hulk” Hogan where he has to basically force Terry to pick him up body slam him and pin him bc he was in so much pain before the match even began. I think Terry was the only wrestler who ever body slammed him. Also, Andre was like the locker room leader and his word was law! I don’t remember which wrestler it was but Andre got in an altercation with bc no one was ever supposed to step over the too rope like he did but one wrestler at that time insisted on doing it everytime he entered the ting and ut pussed him off bc he was the biggest and that was his thing so it was considered disrespectful to do!! Andre didnt take kindly to the disrespect and some kind of interaction ensued. He was also known as The Gentle Giant and The 8th Wonder of the World!!
Great video BunnyMoM loving your WWE content and Andre definitely had a sad story at least he'll be remembered as one of the best Pro Wrestlers in the world❤
Andre the Giant was so interesting. His role in The Princes Bride was perfect. I was a 10 pound baby, my brother was 11. Sounds like Acromegaly. Interesting video.
Andre was actually drunk in most of his matches. The thing is he really didn’t like fighting at all and he drank to really get himself into the fighting mood. It took a lot to get him drunk. He could down an entire 12 pack of beer cans and it wouldn’t do anything except make him barely tipsy. It took Six kegs just to get him buzzed and 12 kegs to get him to the point he could walk it off. 18 kegs he was finally hammered. His diet was nuts with so much protein that he could devour an entire cow at a single sitting yet barely feel anything. He was an eating machine. He was known to down 12 bottles of Champagne in three hours yet not feel a thing. He was a very gentle giant when not on the road as he preferred to just work his farm. He just really liked the simplicity of tending cattle and working the farm. He would entertain people quite a bit like Arnold Schwarzenegger who Andre lifted with ease onto a car.
I don't know if he was very religious, but what faith in God's purpose in making him that way! Living to his late 40s is not terrible too bad ... so many of use don't get to live that long. I love that Andre lives forever in Rob Reiners's beautiful movie, The Princess Bride, and that Andre has a beautiful part in it as well. Would love for you to react to it for us Bunny! Gonna fanboy a bit now … love your videos and love what I see in you as a person. You've helped renew my faith in women Bunny.
Why did people have to say mean things about him just from walking through an airport? That's the part that killed me. We can't have world peace if we're mean to people just by the look of them.
Andre was a great man but not only because of his size. There is a documentary about him made by WWE and it explain how his legendary match with Hulk Hogan during Wrestlemania 3 was just pure pain for Andre and that every effort during that time was almost too much for him to endure. He did this match only because he loved wrestling. You should watch this documentary 👍🏻
Acromegaly can be treated at age 18. Son Ming Ming aka the Chinese Giant got the surgery at age 18. The thing is these patients have to be on hormone replacement therapy for the rest of their life as they can’t naturally create hormones anymore. Unfortunately those with acromegaly can expect a lifespan of about 40 years without treatment but they can grow to old age with treatment. The tallest man ever was Robert Wadlow who grew to be over 8 ft tall. He died at age 30 as his monstrous growth was just too much for his heart and it gave out. His parents actually poured concrete over the grave so Robert’s body could never be taken for study. We still don’t know for sure if it was acromegaly or not as he did not have the same proportions like Andre as Robert was so skinny and didn’t have the telltale head. We do have a giant skeleton on display at the Mutter in Philadelphia. The giant skeleton is next to a dwarf and a regular sized person. It shows the extremes of human height as a display.
I met Andre the Giant he was the passenger with King Kong Bundy inside a Jeep he had the biggest head I had ever seen he I mean his frow would cover the back window and his face covered the front window
One of my favorite stories is about Andre the Giant from told by Arnold Schwarzenegger. When Arnold was heavy in bodybuilding and competitions, him and Andre went out to eat. There was a slight disagreement on who would pick up the check. They both said that they would. So Andre the Giant picked up Arnold Schwarzenegger like a doll and set him on a shelf. th-cam.com/users/shortsVS5axouM0rU?si=s9jU31gjBtkGNOqV
Okay, I do not have much knowledges in plane except things I saw in videos that might be or not be true, but there's barely any oxygen at such a high altitude as the plane are, which mean they can't easily change the air in the plane. So do this not mean that his dumb odor was there for quite a long times? That would explain why peoples were reacting as they did. Also, odor are often masked to some extent by being in water, while he took the dump in a bucket in open space. I certainly would not have wanted to in their when that happened.
just curious why andre ? not 1 podcast ever did anything on him . but loved it I grew up with wwf George animal steel, hacksaw Jim Dugan, hulk Hogan,Rick flair, gorilla monsoon , sorry had to mention them there's lots more I grew up in the sixty's watching them . 💘💘
What choice did he had? Becoming a successful wrestler... or work on a field, for the rest of his days? I think - besides all of his bad luck - I envy him... for making the right choice, in life 😉
Acromegelay is a disease NOT anazing genetics Andre just wantwd to be normal his whole life but he did play the cards he was dealt well he should've had surgery when he was young but did refuse the surgery later in life if he had gotten the surgery when he was young he could've lived alot longer so saying amazing genetics is simply ignorant there's nothing amazing about a disease that cuts your life expectancy in half nothing amazing about that👍👍GOD bless you brother Andre you are sadly missed🙏🙏

He was wonderful in Princess Bride. Andre is legendary!
The poor guy lived in misery his last few years of life!! Any wrestler will tell you how much he drank just to be comfortable!! RIP ANDRE
But when he was young he was insanly athletic despite his size. Capable of doing moonsaults of the top rope and land on his feet. Absolutely insane and I wish there was footage of it.
@@pie5556 you saw him
Sarah have you watched The Princess Bride? If not, I highly recommend it. Andre was terrific in it, just a good fun clean film.

Andre was bigger than life and the normal life he dreamt of I’m sure he got now. Rest easy Gentle Giant

They were not talking about urine. They mentioned he would take a dump beforehand so they were referring to shits lol.
Also though that surgery was pretty much barely out of the experimental stage and he didn't want to risk it.

I remember meeting Andre the giant in 1973 I was 8 years old I shook his finger and it was bigger than my hand
7:20 Fairly sure Bunny that they weren't talking about urine 😂
Andre the Giant was so interesting. His role in The Princes Bride was perfect. I was a 10 pound baby, my brother was 11. Sounds like Acromegaly. Interesting video.
I only got to watch him wrestle like once in portland oregon he was one of the nicest wrestlers i ever had the pleasure of meeting

8:41 the "Oh my God! Look at that guy!" is not the worst thing, it's all the comments that come after.

surprised (you know) but glad you like Andre.
He could've had a much better life if he did strength training (for his joints) and never started drinking!! I feel bad for him
The guy who knew him said taking a dump. That's not just urine that was in a bucket that everyone was smelling.

Andre was only 46 years old when he died.
Around 50 billion children died before reaching adulthood.
If andre could drive he could've go to a car company and said hey I'm a famous wrestler nan you make me a giant car?
My grandfather met him once
Sad that there wast a episode when Andre and Arnold Schwarzenegger eat in restaurant and got dispute about a bill... :D
You should react on great khali too

I wonder-uh who-uh narrated the video-uh. His-uh voice is-uh very distinctive-uh.
0:52. 12 years old and 6 foot 3 (190.5 cm).
I am 38 years old and I am 6 foot 5 (195.58 cm).
Acromegaly is nasty as once you hit a certain age you age twice as fast. The body can’t keep up anymore.
Andre was never 7 foot 4. His billed height was exaggerated because pro wrestling.
What choice did he had?
Becoming a successful wrestler... or work on a field, for the rest of his days?
