Breaks my little nostalgic heart to see what's become of Hardy.

Hardy Sintrix Rods are by far the best on the market right now!
What the problem? Their Reels are still up with the best!

I love Hardy rods and reels! It's sad that Pure Fishing corp. owns Hardy, but the quality of their products is still very good!

I've heard that Hardy moved it's reel manufacturing operations to Korea several years ago (circa 2007). This 2013 video implies that all Hardy reels are made in Alnwick by English craftspeople. What is the real story??

Certain (high end) reels are made in England, but the mid/lower/Grey's reels are offshore.
Long story short, if you are willing to pay upwards of $400 per reel, you can get one made in England.

To add to this, the ones made in England are works of art. The product is well worth the price if that is what you are looking for. If you want a serviceable reel with a decent drag, you buy cheaper. The ones made in Alnwick are heirloom quality, something your kids and grandkids will use.
