I also got myself a copy of the plugin. The price was too good to pass up for the Black Friday special. The plugin sounds fantastic. Thanks for creating and sharing your videos!
Excellent! Its such a great plugin! I love the Soldano tone! A pleasure to share the videos 😊 Enjoy the plugin and by the way - another Soldano videos coming tomorrow so stay tuned! Have an awesome day!
Love the story about making your own & seeing an ADA MP-1 on your desktop. All that's missing now is a Metaltronix head! 🤟 I heard one briefly in a store as it was being checked out for delivery. It was huge, really loud, and about the price of a used car at the time. Needless to say I've never owned one. But WOW, just wow. Thanks for letting us know about this plugin.
Thanks man! And it’s always a pleasure to share this stuff. I have good memories about Soldano gear. I remember how happy I was when I picked up my GTO! I recorded my first album with a Boss DS1 as a boost going into the GTO and that going into a POD 2.0 (remember those?!). Ah the Metaltronix! that’s a name I haven’t heard in a while - Lee Jackson right? the ADA is awesome. I love the sound of that too! Some amazing innovations came out of that era. Have an awesome day!
@@jayguitar Metaltronix is a Lee Jackson head. Big, heavy, loud, and has high background hiss (at least the one I heard). But WOW. The MP-1 was absolutely everywhere because it was so much better than anything else and at the time, and for affordable money, That and the Rockman shaped a whole generation, but so many people had no idea! Soldano was a mythic thing and unobtanium. Have a great one and Rock ON!
Every guitarist knows which are his favorite amps...as well as his guitars and all his equipment...I personally love some Hughes and Kettner, Mesa Boogie...and Soldano!!!! And why I like them...I don't really know...but when I play with one of them and it makes me smile and gives me goosebumps I know that's the one I was looking for.
I bought the plugin with the BF discount, and now it's available in my QC ! This amp sim into a Celestion G12M closed 4x12 IR is THE tone I've been chasing ever since listening to Wicked Sensation for the first time then saw the Lynch REH videotape , over 30 years ago...
I have had the Neural DSP Soldano for awhile now and it is my fave amp sim. After todays Quad Cortex update I should be able to use my Soldano in my Quad Cortex which will be awesome.
Very very cool! I haven’t tried the Quad. I tried a Nano not too long ago and that sounded pretty amazing with a Plexi profile. I am considering getting a Fractal FM9 at some point I might think about the Quad though. Enjoy the SLO on the quad and have an awesome day!
@@jayguitar I bought my Quad Cortex 3 years ago.I have not touched my Fractal AXE FX XL+ since the day I plugged in my QC.I need to sell it.I just did the QC update and my Soldano plugin is now in my QC with my presets. Now that is cool.
@@pranavphx Big difference to my ears. From what I heard the stock SLO in the QC is based ON a newer SLO and the plugin is based on the original 80's SLO.
@ very cool to know. I appreciate you sharing that. Is it the sound quality that is better on the QC? I have read some posts on forums which talk about the feel and how the Fractal feels more ‘real’ to play. I don’t have experience with either so would be interested to hear your thoughts.
Oh fantastic! I wish I had bought it last year too! 😊 but there ya go - a year late to the party… or should I say it’s time for another party! ha! Have an awesome day Jeff!
Would be great to see you do a comparison with the real thing.. or your DIY version of the real thing. I know that's not what this video is.. but it's something your channel has done in other videos, and does it really well. This is a great plugin, I agree with you about the controls and how it feels like the real amp.
That would certainly make for an interesting video 🤔 I am loving playing the plugin. It's so so cool that it acts like the actual amp right? Have an awesome day!
So good. I have a bunch of the Neural DSP plugins now. Getting better and better with the 'X' releases as well. I also love the cabs on most of the plugins. Which of your IRs do you use for this one?
Awesome bro! Such a great sounding plugin! I’ve even been using just the cab section with my amps. Are you finding that the X version sounds different from the original? Have an awesome day Eamon!
@@jayguitar - Yeah, to my ears it sounds better. I have your IRs and the Tone Mission Petrucci IRs and haven't used them for the 'X' versions (I've got a few - Soldano X, Petrucci X, Rabea, Mesa Boogie MkIIC+, Plini X and Nolly X :) )
I gotta agree with you bro! I totally love it! The way it responds is so much like the real deal! pretty amazing they managed to pack that into the software! yes, the Sterling is another love affair I am having! it is so awesome! I picked up another one also. I will send you pictures 😉 Have an awesome day!
Thanks man! I appreciate it and glad you enjoy the videos! i have experience with the Captor but not the OX. The Captor is ok - there are better sounding load boxes available, like the RedSeven Amp Central EVO. I actually built my own last year and it sounds incredibly good - but it’s kinda secret tech as my friend Stefan over at Redstuff Amps helped with the design and concept, etc. Long story! OX is supposed to be really amazing, especially with the cab/mic selection and the ability to add room sound, etc. The Captor. can do that too, it does that in a slightly different way. The other one to consider is the Boss Waza Tube Amp Expander or the Expander Core. I have a Tube Amp Expander and it does sound better to my ears then the Captor. Hope that helps a little! Have an awesome day!
I have one. Nothing can beat Soldano sound, by my taste. Rabea did nice comparison to the real amp. It really sounds the same. But there is totaly free option, NAM Soldano SLO prophiles. Sound is identical. I tryed both, and with a bit of tweaking, both plugins sound the same as real amp. And you can put it in Dimehead NAM player pedal. So, 100% Soldano, Marshall, Mesa, Bogner, Dumble, etc. sound all together for about $500. You should demo this thing.
Totally agree with you! The Soldano sound is so addictive! I love it! It’s like a drug! lol! That’s a really good you bring up though and I do love the NAM profiles. I have even profiled my own SLO30JP and I gotta say, it is the best profile of the amp that I have. However…. and this has become a huge however for profiling for me… whilst I totally adore the sound I get from a profile, I have come to realise that it is just a snapshot of the amp captured as it was dialled in. It is essentially a photograph- a very very good and realistic, high res photo. But, like a photo, it doesn’t have any movement. And what I mean by that is when you start turning the controls on a profiler, it doesn’t act or react in the same way as the real thing. Remember on the video where I said that the preamp and master on the SLO interact with each other and have that special thing going on? That doesn’t translate to a profile. As much as I would love it to, it doesn’t exist in that realm because the interaction hasn’t been modelled. So, for me personally, if I want the most real experience of the SLO then it’s either this software, the Soldano SLO Plus pedal, or my amp. If I want to quickly record my amp at my favourite settings then I have the option to reach for the NAM model 😊 Also, profiling for me is just about capturing the tones of my personal amp collection as it is a unique collection. I appreciate that profiling has helped a lot of people access amps they don’t have or are out of their price range, I have never really thought about profiling for this. Also, regardless of the amp we play through we always end up dialling in pretty much the same sound right?! lol! Add to that that when I have played profiles in a live environment or through a power amp, they have sounded so so flat! I always prefer either an amp, a preamp pedal, or a good modeller or for playing live as there is so much more life to them! Anyways, apologies for the long reply. I am passionate about this subject as you know! 😊🙏🏽 Have an awesome day!
@jayguitar awesome! I just picked up the Mercuriall triaxis plugin last week (also half off right now) the C+ mode on that is also phenomenal but I would definitely like to try Neural's version too
Yes definitely an awesome plugin! I haven't tried the module. I am planning to pick up the SYN-1 at some stage as I have some old Randall RM modules which i can play through it too. My Randall RM100 has an issue with the power amp section which needs fixing so I haven't been able to play that. I take it the SLO 2 module is very very good? Have an awesome day!
@jayguitar it's so close to an slo if played through a good power amp. I play it through a fryette power station and it sounds amazing. Def worth checking out
Ah! Is that what it means - I appreciate the heads up! I am loving the plugin. I wonder why it didn't grab me when I first tried it 🤔 Oh well, I have it now 😊 Have an awesome day!
@ X added the transpose and doubler also. I’ve had the plug-in so long I forgot they added those. This has always been my go to guitar sound for plugins. I’ve had the thing where I don’t like something right away then can’t figure out why. I think it’s because my ears get locked into a sound then you try something that is just different and you think it stinks but in reality it’s actually just different. 🤘
I just started getting back into recording and I don’t know what I’m doing . Just using Apple laptop with scarlet interface and bias fx by positive grid. Feels like my tone changes every time I turn the thing on. I don’t know if I have the inputs set up right. This is what happens and I stop messing around. Im trying to push past the learning curve.
